  • To study emission properties of white phosphorescent organic light emitting devices (PHOLEDs), we fabricated white PHOLEDs of ITO(150 nm) / NPB(30 nm) / TcTa(10 nm) / mCP(7.5 nm) / light-emitting layer(25 nm) / UGH3(5 nm) / Bphen(50 nm) / LiF(0.5 nm) / Al(200 nm) structure. The total thickness of light-emitting layer with co-doping and blue-doping/co-doping using a host-dopant system was 25 nm and the dopant of blue and red was FIrpic and $Bt_2Ir$(acac) in UGH3 as host, respectively. The OLED characteristics were changed with position and thickness of blue doping layer and co-doping layer as light-emitting layer and the best performance seemed in structure of blue-doping(5 nm)/co-doping(20 nm) layer. The white PHOLEDs showed the maximum current density of $34.5mA/cm^2$, maximum brightness of $5,731cd/m^2$, maximum current efficiency of 34.8 cd/A, maximum power efficiency of 21.6 lm/W, maximum quantum efficiency of 15.6%, and a Commission International de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinate of (0.367, 0.436) at $1,000cd/m^2$.

  • PURPOSE. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of digitizing dental impressions of abutment teeth using a white light scanner and to compare the findings among teeth types. MATERIALS AND METHODS. To assess precision, impressions of the canine, premolar, and molar prepared to receive all-ceramic crowns were repeatedly scanned to obtain five sets of 3-D data (STL files). Point clouds were compared and error sizes were measured (n=10 per type). Next, to evaluate trueness, impressions of teeth were rotated by $10^{\circ}-20^{\circ}$ and scanned. The obtained data were compared with the first set of data for precision assessment, and the error sizes were measured (n=5 per type). The Kruskal-Wallis test was performed to evaluate precision and trueness among three teeth types, and post-hoc comparisons were performed using the Mann-Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. Precision discrepancies for the canine, premolar, and molar were $3.7{\mu}m$, $3.2{\mu}m$, and $7.3{\mu}m$, respectively, indicating the poorest precision for the molar (P<.001). Trueness discrepancies for teeth types were $6.2{\mu}m$, $11.2{\mu}m$, and $21.8{\mu}m$, respectively, indicating the poorest trueness for the molar (P=.007). CONCLUSION. In respect to accuracy the molar showed the largest discrepancies compared with the canine and premolar. Digitizing of dental impressions of abutment teeth using a white light scanner was assessed to be a highly accurate method and provided discrepancy values in a clinically acceptable range. Further study is needed to improve digitizing performance of white light scanning in axial wall.

  • We suggest the fluorescence endoscope system that has light source apparatus providing selectable white or excitation light. White light source generates normal color images and is easily switched over to excitation light with the wide spectrum range from 380 nm to 580 nm. 5-ALA is deposited selectively in the abnormal tissue like cancer and causes fluorescence in the red spectrum range when excited by blue spectrum range. In addition, the others of excitation light make the color background image by reflected light to allow accurate orientation and visualization of the abnormal tissue and around. According to clinical studies, the fluorescence intensity contrast that defines the fluorescence intensity of lesion over the fluorescence intensity of around has more than 2 in tumour. Proposed system is useful and objective way in early diagnosis. Furthermore, it can be used in the biopsy for tumour classification at the highest fluorescence intensity point.

  • Photoinhibition and its recovery of spectrally adapted Anacystis nidulans were studied. Phycocyanin and Chl content and phycocyanin/Chl ratio were increased in cells grown under blue-green light compared with those grown in white light. Photosynthetic activities of white light and blue-green light grown cells were reduced by 50% after 15 min and 10 min of photoinhibitory light treatment (1.2 mmol·m-2s-1), respectively, largely due to the decline of PSII activities. However, their activities were recovered fully after 30 min incubation under weak light. Treatment of rifampicin and chloramphenicol magnified the photoinhibitory effects and suppressed the recovery with disappearance of susceptibility to photoinhibition and delayed the recovery process, indicating no significant differences in phosphorylation, dephosphorylation and protease activity between two cells. Therefore, it is suggested that the increased sensitivity of blue-green adapted cells might be attributed to the decline of protein synthesis, and phosphorylation-dephosphorylation of protein and protease activity might be involved in the recovery process.

  • This paper devised a plant growing system As LED light source, three monochromatic lights (red, blue, white) and three mixed lights (red1+blue1, red2+blue1, red1+blue2) were made. According to the optical properties of those LED light sources and change in the amount of light, this author analyzed the characteristics of luminance and PPFD and also plant growth. According to the light efficiency of those LED light sources, it was high in white light as 125 lm/W and was low in red1+blue2 light as 9.9 lm/W. This result shows that monochromatic light has higher light efficiency than mixed light. The PPFD ($25{\mu}mol$, $50{\mu}mol$, $100{\mu}mol$) luminance in different wavelengths of LEDs was high in white LEDs and was low in blue LEDs. therefore, it is possible to devise an efficient LED lighting system appropriate for growing plants by variety monochromatic lights and mixed light wave length combination of LED light source.

  • White reflective patterns are very difficult to fabricate, due to the scattering and reflection of light, especially when the pattern size goes down to micron size. A reflective white barrier structure of height $50{\mu}m$ and width $80{\mu}m$ was fabricated using dry-film resist as an intermediate reverse pattern. The reverse dry-film resist pattern was coated with an $SiO_2$ layer by sputtering, to protect the resist from chemical attack by the radical molecules in UV white resin. The UV white resin was applied on the dry-film resist pattern and then cured with ultraviolet light. The fine three-dimensional reflective patterns were finished by removing the dry-film resist.

  • In this study, I was focusing on LED (Light Emitting Diode) light effect in growth of chrysanthemum. For this reason, I formed six monochromatic lights (red 650 nm, 647 nm, 622 nm, blue 463 nm, 450 nm, white), six mixed lights sources red : blue (9 : 1, 8 : 2, 7 : 3, 6 : 4, 5 : 5) and 3 control beds in light sources ratio between rad : blue (8 : 2) including sun light. It was totally 15 control beds. Depending on light investigation time in growth, 6/6 (on/off) was highest in the length of plant, the number of leaves, the fresh dry and leaf area. But statistical significance wasn't accepted in general. In case of monochromatic lights, length of plant and leaf area is biggest in the Blue 450 mm and the length of root is highest in RED 650 mm. Except for this 3 measuring points (length of plant, the number of leaves and fresh weight), sun light and white was highest. Besides there are monochromatic light effect but various wavelength range in light sources are needed to crop growth. In terms of mixed light resources, except for sun light, It turned out the length of plant is highest in the highest red light rate red : blue (9 : 1), and Red : white (7 : 3) is highest in fresh weight and dry weight. The sun light is the highest one in the leaf area. The results from LED light effect in growth of chrysanthemum are obviously effect on growth and building up the shape. We need to choose suitable light sources in the monochromatic lights and mixed lights for growing high quality of chrysanthemum or Supplemental Lighting.

  • The author carried out an experiment to find out the response of Striped puffer. Fugu xanthoperus (Temminck et Schlegel) to the color lights. The experimental tank (300L$\times$50W$\times$50Hcm) was set up in a dark room. Six longitudinal sections with 60cm intervals are marked in the tank to observe the location of the fish. Water depth in the tank was kept 50cm level. Light bulbs of 20W at the both ends of the tank projected the light horizontally into the tank. Two different colored filters were selected from four colors of red, blue, yellow, and white, and the were placed in front of the light bulbs to make different colors of light. Light intensity was controlled by use of auxiliary filiters intercepted between the bulb and the filter. The fishes were acclimatized in the dark for 60 minutes before they were employed in the experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted 40 times in 30 second intervals, and the mean of the number of fish in each section was counted 40 times in 30 second intervals, and the mean of the number of fish in each section was given as the gathering rate of the fish. The colors favourited by the fish was found in order of blue, yellow, white and red in the daytime, and blue, white, yellow and red at night. The difference of the average distribution on two different colors of light was 13.12%(4.10-26.55%), and the difference in the daytime(14.79%) was larger than at night (11.45%). Constantly the gathering rate of fish on illumination period was fluctuated with instability. As the gathering rate of fish on illumination period was fluctuated with instability. As the gathering rate on one color of light increased, the gathering rate on the other color of light decreased. The difference of the gathering rate on two different colors of light was comparatively distinct and the difference in the daytime was larger than at night.

  • It failed occasionally to take a reasonable emergence rate since tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) seeds were planted on late Jan. showing lowest temperature. This experiment was done to measure the effect of GA3 (concentration ; period) , light quality (red ; white ; dark) during or after its treatment, daily irradiation hours( 0 ; 8 ; 12 ;16) and germination termperature (20 or 10 $^{\circ}C$ ocnstant ; 20/1$0^{\circ}C$ alternating) on the germination rate. Red and white light given during grmination showed no differences between the other daily irradiation hours except that 8 hours red light delayed germination although their 12 hours irradiation had the gratest rate. The rate was increased with increased concentration to GA3 0.01 mM or increased imbibition period to 3 days although the rate of cv. NC 82 was less than that of cv. Burley 21 in the case of dark imbibition of GA3 but daily 12 hours irradiation during germination. Light quality forced during GA3 imbibition eliminated such effect of GA3 shown in the darkness so that only light quality pretreatment and termperature during germinition were affected on the rate. The germination rate of thecultivars was decreased in the order of red, white light, darkness meaning that it was highly influenced by the light quality during GA3 treatment. Regardless of GA3 or light quality treatment,on the other hand, the rate was greater in 20 $^{\circ}C$ constat than 1$0^{\circ}C$ constant and 20/1$0^{\circ}C$ alternating germination temperature having similar germinative patterns.
