  • Data used for this analysis were 281 outbreaks of food poisoning, excluding single cases, reported during 1981-1989. Patient size of 10 persons or less occupied 38.0% of the out breaks. The most frequently isolated bacterial pathogen was Vibrio, 35.4% ; followed by Salmonella, 27.2% ; Staphylococcus , 17.7% ; Escherichia coli , 17.7%. Plant toxin occupied 64% of poisonous substances. Sixty-six percent of food poisoning reported in urban area resulted from meals consumed in food consumed at home. Raw and under-cooked seafoods were the major cousative foods in food service establishments. Pork which frequently serviced at home ceremonies wes the major causative food in rural area. Mushroom poisoning generally occurred during regular meals at home.

  • It is well known that an automotive muffle strongly influences engine efficiency and noise reduction. The performance of a muffler system is determined by the geometrical parameters such as the relative location of an inlet and outlet pipe size and cross sectional geometry of a chamber. In this study numerical analysis was performed to examine the flow characteristics in the simple automotive muffler for the variation of volumetric rate and offset. The computational grid generation was carried out. The RNG k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model was applied. To provide the boundary condition for numerical analysis the experimental measurement wes carried out. As a result of this study we could understand that there was a recirculation flow inside muffler and pressure loss depends on the variation of volumetric rate and offset.

  • In this paper, a new replication technique for a real 3D microstructure was introduced, in which a master Pattern WES made of photo-curable epoxy using a microstereolithography technology, and then it was transferred onto an epoxy-copper particle composite. A helical gear was selected as one of the real 3D microstructure for this study, and it was replicated from a pure epoxy to an epoxy composite. In addition, the transferability of the microreplication process was evaluated, and the properties of :he epoxy composite were compared to that of the pure epoxy, including hardness, wear-resistance and thermal conductivity.

  • The dissolved oxygen removal by H$_2$-O$_2$ reaction in column packed with various catalysts wes examined. The catalysts employed were the prepared polymeric catalyst platinum on activated carbon, and Lewatit OC-1045 which is available commercially. The column experiments with the prepared polymeric catalyst showed the dissolved oxygen reduced to 35 ppb which is below the limit in feed water of power plants. This implies the likely application of the prepared catalyst for practical use. The activated carbon required the pre-treatment for the removal of dissolved oxygen, since the surface of activated carbon contains much oxygen adsorbed initially. The Lewatit catalyst exposed the best performance, however, the aged one showed the gradual loss of catalytic activity due to degradation of resin catalyst.

  • The main experiments was investigated the skin tissue damage changing for the skin bum having influence on the skin and the liver and also observed the radical liver weight, ALT in the serum, the fluctuating of AST for the skin bum causing to the liver damage. Anatomically the edema formation of skin after thermal injury was showed, and skin bum increased liver weight (% of body weight, p<0.05) and the activity of serum aniline aminotrasferase (p<0.05), and also histologically induced wes of epidermal layer, protein degeneration of connective tissue, local hemorrhage and degeneration of glandular epithelium in the skin tissue. Liver tissue showed the evidences of postbum damage, they were sinusoidal dilatation, cell swelling, infiltration of inflammatory cells.

  • Proper door effort, required force to open or close a vehicle door, is an essential door design factor for the safety of passengers and pedestrians. Section shape of the door checker arm is the most influential design parameter for achieving a door effort design target. In this research. an analysis procedure to predict door effort using a simplified plane strain finite element model wes investigated for two passenger cars, for which mechanism of checker systems were: different. The variation of checker arm force to be required during moving on arm in opening and closing direction was estimated through analysis, and the result was transformed to the door effort with respect to door opening angle by considering door characteristics. Also, the self·closing force due to door weight was theoretically calculated and added to the door effort from checker arm force. Finally the estimated results of door effort were compared with test results.

  • An implementation of animation module using the 3D body data scanned by laser scanner is reported in this paper. Characteristic points of the skeleton in human body were picked up as pivot point for 3D rotation. The body data set wes reconstructed as objects built in hierarchical tree structure, which is based on skeleton model. In order to implement the 3D animation of the laser scanned body data, the vertexes of the objects were connected as skeleton structure and animated to follow dynamic patterns inputted by user.

  • Coffin-Lowry syndrome (CLS) is a genetic disorder characterized by intellectual disability, typical facial features, and skeletal abnormalities. But this syndrome shows highly variable clinical manifestations, and can't be diagnosed with conventional chromosome analysis or comparative genomic hybridization, leading to delayed diagnosis. Here we report an 18-year-old boy with CLS diagnosed by whole exome sequencing. Our patient initially presented with developmental delay, facial dysmorphism at the age of 1. At the age of 18, he developed orthopnea due to mitral regurgitation. At the 22 years of age, he was diagnosed as CLS diagnosed by whole exome sequencing. Our case implies that clinical suspicion is important for early diagnosis, and advanced diagnostic tools such as WES should be considered in suspected cases.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide dietitians with the guidance in forecasting meal counts for a university/college foodservice facility. The forecasting methods to be analyzed were the following: naive model 1, 2, and 3; moving average, double moving average, simple exponential smoothing, double exponential smoothing, Holt's, and Winters' methods, and simple linear regression. The accuracy of the forecasting methods was measured using mean squared error and Theil's U-statistic. This study showed how to project meal counts using 10 forecasting methods for dietitians. The results of this study showed that WES was the most accurate forecasting method, followed by $na\ddot{i}ve$ 2 and naive 3 models. However, naive model 2 and 3 were recommended for using by dietitians in university/college dining facilities because of the accuracy and ease of use. In addition, the 2000 spring semester data were better than the 2000 fall semester data to forecast 2001spring semester data.

  • The parametric model method determines the accident source term which is Presented by a set of source term parameters. In this method, the cumulative distribution of each source term parameter should be derived for its uncertainty analysis. This paper introduces a method of generating the parameters in the form of cumulative distribution using MAAP version 4.0. In MAAP, there are model parameters which could incorporate uncertain physical and/or chemical phenomena. In general, the model parameters do not have a point value but a range. In this paper, considering that, the input values of model parameters influencing each parameter are sampled using LHS. Then, the computation results are shown in cumulative distribution form. For a case study, the CDFs of FCOR and WES of Kori Unit 1 are derived. The target scenarios for the computation are the ones whose initial events are large LOCA, small LOCA and transient, respectively. It is found that the computed CDF's in this study are consistent to those of NUREG-1150 and the use of MAAP is proven to be adequate in assessing the parameters of the severe accident source term.
