  • A weighted version of the geometric mean of k ($\geq\;3$) positive invertible operators is given. For operators $A_1,{\ldots},A_k$ and for nonnegative numbers ${\alpha}_1,\ldots,{\alpha}_k$ such that $\sum_\limits_{i=1}^k\;\alpha_i=1$, we define weighted geometric means of two types, the first type by a direct construction through symmetrization procedure, and the second type by an indirect construction through the non-weighted (or uniformly weighted) geometric mean. Both of them reduce to $A_1^{\alpha_1}{\cdots}A_k^{{\alpha}_k}$ if $A_1,{\ldots},A_k$ commute with each other. The first type does not have the property of permutation invariance, but satisfies a weaker one with respect to permutation invariance. The second type has the property of permutation invariance. We also show a reverse inequality for the arithmetic-geometric mean inequality of the weighted version.

  • Let T be the singular integral operator with nonsmooth kernel which was introduced by Duong and McIntosh, and $T_q(q{\in}(1,{\infty}))$ be the vector-valued operator defined by $T_qf(x)=({\sum}_{k=1}^{\infty}{\mid}T\;f_k(x){\mid}^q)^{1/q}$. In this paper, by proving certain weak type endpoint estimate of L log L type for the grand maximal operator of T, the author establishes some quantitative weighted bounds for $T_q$ and the corresponding vector-valued maximal singular integral operator.

  • Let ${X, X_n, n \geq 1}$ be a sequence of independent and identically distributed(i.i.d) random variables with EX = 0 and $E$\mid$X$\mid$^p < \infty$ for some $p \geq 1$. Let ${a_{ni}, 1 \leq i \leq n, n \geq 1}$ be a triangular arrary of constants. The almost sure(a.s) convergence of weighted sums $\sum_{i=1}^{n} a_{ni}X_i$ can be founded in Choi and Sung[1], Chow[2], Chow and Lai[3], Li et al. [4], Stout[6], Sung[8], Teicher[9], and Thrum[10].

  • By using the weighted averaging techniques, we establish oscillation criteria for the second order damped quasilinear elliptic differential equation $$\sum_{i,j=1}^{N}D_i(a_{ij}(x){\parallel}Dy{\parallel}^{p-2}D_jy)+{\langle}b(x),\;{\parallel}Dy{\parallel}^{p-2}Dy{\rangle}+c(x)f(y)=0,\;p>1$$. The obtained theorems include and improve some existing ones for the undamped halflinear partial differential equation and the semilinear elliptic equation.

  • Let {X, $X_{n}, n\;{\geq}\;1$} be a sequence of identically distributed, negatively associated (NA) random variables and assume that $│X│^{r}$, r > 0, has a finite moment generating function. A strong law of large numbers is established for weighted sums of these variables.

  • We see fundamental properties of the log-determinant α-divergence including the convexity of weighted geometric mean and the reversed sub-additivity under tensor product. We introduce a symmetrized divergence and show its properties including the boundedness and monotonicity on parameters. Finally, we discuss the barycenter minimizing the weighted sum of symmetrized divergences.

  • In this paper, we present some results on weak laws of large numbers for weighted sums of fuzzy random variables taking values in the space of normal and upper-semicontinuous fuzzy sets with compact support in a separable real Banach space. First, we give weak laws of large numbers for weighted sums of strong-compactly uniformly integrable fuzzy random variables. Then, we consider the case that the weighted averages of expectations of fuzzy random variables converge. Finally, weak laws of large numbers for weighted sums of strongly tight or identically distributed fuzzy random variables are obtained as corollaries.

  • In this paper we derive the central limit theorem for ${\sum}_{i=1}^n\;a_{ni}\xi_i$, where ${a_{ni},\;1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;n}$ is a triangular array of nonnegative numbers such that $sup_n{\sum}_{i=1}^n\;a_{ni}^2\;<\;{\infty},\;max_{1{\leq}i{\leq}n}a_{ni}{\rightarrow}0\;as\;n\;{\rightarrow}\;{\infty}\;and\;\xi'_i\;s$ are a linearly negative quadrant dependent sequence. We also apply this result to consider a central limit theorem for a partial sum of a generalized linear process $X_n\;=\;\sum_{j=-\infty}^\infty\;a_k+_j{\xi}_j$.
