  • The signal model and weighted-average based estimation techniques are proposed to estimate the angle-of-arrival (AOA) parameters of multiple clusters for a low data rate ultrawide band (LR-UWB) based wireless positioning system. It is observed that the weighted-average based AOA estimation technique gives an optimal AOA estimate under few clusters condition, and the average based AOA estimation technique gives a correct AOA estimate under many clusters condition through computer simulation. Also, we can observe that the variance estimation error decreases as SNR increases, and the proposed techniques are superior to the conventional technique from the viewpoint of performance.

  • This research investigates the adaptive input estimation method applied to the multilayer shearing stress structure. This method is to estimate the values of wind load inputs by analyzing the active reaction of the system. The Kalman filter without the input term and the adaptive weighted recursive least square estimator are two main portions of this method. The innovation vector can be produced by the Kalman filter, and be applied to the adaptive weighted recursive least square estimator to estimate the wind load input over time. This combined method can effectively estimate the wind loads to the structure system to enhance the reliability of the system active performance analysis. The forms of the simulated inputs (loads) in this paper include the periodic sinusoidal wave, the decaying exponent, the random combination of the sinusoidal wave and the decaying exponent, etc. The active reaction computed plus the simulation error is regard as the simulated measurement and is applied to the input estimation algorithm to implement the numerical simulation of the inverse input estimation process. The availability and the precision of the input estimation method proposed in this research can be verified by comparing the actual value and the one obtained by numerical simulation.

  • This paper is devoted to the investigation of mixed Fourier-Bessel transformation (※Equations, See Full-text) We apply the method of [6] which provides the estimate for weighted L(sub)$\infty$-norm of the spherical mean of │f│$^2$ via its weighted L$_1$-norm (generally it is wrong without the requirement of the non-negativity of f). We prove that in the case of Fourier-Bessel transformatin the mentioned method provides (in dependence on the relation between the dimension of the space of non-special variables n and the length of multiindex ν) similar estimates for weighted spherical means of │f│$^2$, the allowed powers of weights are also defined by multiindex ν. Further those estimates are applied to partial differential equations with singular Bessel operators with respect to y$_1$, …, y(sub)m and we obtain the corresponding estimates for solutions of the mentioned equations.

  • This study was conducted to estimate the design rainfall by the determination of best fitting order for Higher Probability Weighted Moments of the annual maximum series according to consecutive duration at sixty-five rainfall stations in Korea. Design rainfalls were obtained by generalized extreme value distribution which was selected to be suitable distribution in 4 applied distributions and by L, L1, L2, L3 and L4-moment. The best fitting order for Higher Probability Weighted Moments was determined with the confidence analysis of estimated design rainfall.

  • In last decades, several linearization methods for the AOA measurements have been proposed, for example, Gauss-Newton method and Closed-Form solution. Gauss-Newton method can achieve high accuracy, but the convergence of the iterative process is not always ensured if the initial guess is not accurate enough. Closed-Form solution provides a non-iterative solution and it is less computational. It does not suffer from convergence problem, but estimation error is somewhat larger. This paper proposes a Self-Tuning Weighted Least Square AOA algorithm that is a modified version of the conventional Closed-Form solution. In order to estimate the error covariance matrix as a weight, a two-step estimation technique is used. Simulation results show that the proposed method has smaller positioning error compared to the existing methods.

  • We will prove size estimates of the Bergman kernel for the generalized Fock space ${\mathcal{F}}^2_{\varphi}$, where ${\varphi}$ belongs to the class $\mathcal{W} $. The main tool for the proof is to use the estimate on the canonical solution to the ${\bar{\partial}}$-equation. We use Delin's weighted $L^2$-estimate ([3], [6]) for it.

  • The linear absolute shrinkage and selection operator(Lasso) method improves the low prediction accuracy and poor interpretation of the ordinary least squares(OLS) estimate through the use of $L_1$ regularization on the regression coefficients. However, the Lasso is not robust to outliers, because the Lasso method minimizes the sum of squared residual errors. Even though the least absolute deviation(LAD) estimator is an alternative to the OLS estimate, it is sensitive to leverage points. We propose a robust Lasso estimator that is not sensitive to outliers, heavy-tailed errors or leverage points.

  • The aim of this study were to assess the personal exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and to estimate the personal exposure using time-weighted average model. Three target VOCs (benzene, toluene, xylene) were analyzed in personal exposure samples and residential indoor, residential outdoor and workplace indoor microenvironments samples in the iron mill 30 workers during working 5 days. Personal exposure to VOCs significantly correlated with workplace concentration p<0.05), suggesting workplace had strong source and major contribution to personal exposure. Personal exposure could be estimated with time activity pattern and time weighted average (TWA) model of residential indoor and workplace concentrations measured. Time weighted mean microenvironments concentrations were close approximately of personal exposure concentrations. Total exposure for participants can be estimated by TWA with microenvironments measurements and time activity pattern.

  • In this paper, we consider how to estimate New Better Than Used (NBU) survival curves from randomly right censored data. We propose several possible NBU estimators and study their properties. Numerical studies indicate that the proposed estimators are appropriate in practical use. Some useful examples are presented.
