한의학 통계자료를 이용한 지식정보 데이터베이스 구축 연구 (Building Information Database Using Traditional Korean Medical Statistics)

  • Objectives: Because TKM-related statistics are scattered in year books, white papers, or web services, it is not easy to use. This study aimed to build a TKM statistical database offering one-stop service. Methods: We collected TKM statistics from year books, white papers, and web services using TKM related keywords which came from the advanced study. Then we removed, merged, or split the statistics looking through data and meta-data of statistics to build a database. Results: First, we classified the statistics into 6 categories and found that the service category was 303, product category 37 and so on. Second, we analyzed the source of statistics and found that the Ministry of Health & Welfare and the Korea statistics were the strongest sources. Third, we analyzed the years of statistics and found that the oldest was 1962, 35% were within the past 3 years, and only 14% were over 10 years old. Finally, we found that the 415 statistics were composed of 1,120 items and the average was 2.70. Conclusions: Through this study we found that more sophisticated TKM statistics must be produced and developed specially in the education, research, and administration categories. We hope that the effort of TKM societies is available to eliminate the lack of statistical producer's understanding about TKM.

중학교 통계를 중심으로 한 웹사이트 개발 및 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development and Application of Web Site for Learning Statistics in the Middle School)

  • The purpose of this study is to develope a web site of statistics closely related to real life in the information society and to analyze the achievement and the response of the students about WBI between the web based instructiongroup and the traditional instruction group after applied the developed web site. The conclusions drawn from the results of this study are as follows: First, as compared the web based instructionclass with the traditional instruction class there was a significant difference in the high class but not in the low class. And there was a higher level of the achievement in the web based instruction classes than the traditional classes. Therefore, it is certain that the achievement will not fall through the web based instruction is applied. Second, the results of the investigated response using the paper sheets in order to see the response of the students about the web based instruction is that there was a more effect related to the interest and understand of studying in the web based instruction than in the traditional instruction. As synthesizing these study results, there will be a positive effect on the mathematical achievement as well as the interest of students about mathematics if the web based instruction is properly used.

Sparse Data Cleaning using Multiple Imputations

  • Real data as web log file tend to be incomplete. But we have to find useful knowledge from these for optimal decision. In web log data, many useful things which are hyperlink information and web usages of connected users may be found. The size of web data is too huge to use for effective knowledge discovery. To make matters worse, they are very sparse. We overcome this sparse problem using Markov Chain Monte Carlo method as multiple imputations. This missing value imputation changes spare web data to complete. Our study may be a useful tool for discovering knowledge from data set with sparseness. The more sparseness of data in increased, the better performance of MCMC imputation is good. We verified our work by experiments using UCI machine learning repository data.

  • 통계학 전공 뿐 아니라 기초 도구과목으로서 점차 수요가 늘어나고 있는 통계학 및 실습 교과목의 e-Learning운영에 필요한 제반요소에 대하여 연구하였다. 교실 수업에 등장하는 요소들을 웹 환경으로 구현하는 다양한 방법을 예시하였으며 ASP와 웹 폴더를 활용하여 전산실습을 e-Learning으로 구현하는 방법에 대하여 설명하였다.

  • 통계학을 좀 더 쉽게 이해하며 흥미를 가지고 접근할 수 있도록 하기 위해 다양한 통계교육 방법의 연구가 계속되어지고 있다. 그러나 동계교육에 있어서 항상 겪는 어려운 점 중의 하나는 학생들이 쉽게 받아들일 수 있는 실제 자료가 많지 않다는 것이다. 이는 학생들에게 통계학을 현실과 전혀 관계없는 학문으로 인식시키며 학습 의욕을 저하시키고 통계학을 재미없는 학문으로 인식하게 되는 부정적 결과를 낳게 하였다. 본 연구에서는 웹과 데이터베이스를 활용한 자료 수집 및 공유 프로그램을 활용하여 수업에서 현실감 있고 학생들과 관련이 높은 자료를 활용할 수 있도록 하고 엑셀을 활용하여 학생들이 통계학의 개념과 응용에 더 집중할 수 있는 통계교육 수업방안을 제안한다.

학생 건강에 대한 OECD와 한국의 통계지표 (The Statistical Indicators of OECD and Korea for Student Health)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the statistical indicators of OECD and Korea for student health among Korea's approval statistics. Methods: Searching for health indicators by using Health at a Glance 2009, Society at a Glance 2009, and Education at a Glance 2009 through the formal OECD web site in 2010, and investigating the approval statistics through the Korean formal organizational web sites and published data in 2012. Results: Among OECD indicators, indicators for adolescent health were smoking and alcohol consumption, nutrition, physical activity, overweight and obesity, bullying, risk behaviors, and poverty children. However, most of Korea student health indicators were missing except poverty children and life satisfaction, because OECD has taken chiefly data from Health Behavior in School-aged Children survey (HBSC), international study, which has not been carried out in Korea. The Ministry Of Education, Science And Technology (MEST) and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and National Youth Policy Institute in Korea have produced the major statistics for student health which was only 11 (1.3%) among 858 approval statistics. Conclusion: Identifying a current Korea school health is essential through participating actively to OECD whose statistic indicators are internationally comparable with Students Physical Development Survey, MEST's approval statistics, using Korea Student Health Examination. It was also suggested that quantitative and qualitative expansions for Korea student health statistics by the activation of approval statistics including processed statistics, and by researchers' easy expanded access to a raw data.

Operation of StarDB web services and its Virtual Observatory supports

  • We present the current operation status of StarDB web services by showing its user access statistics. The StarDB web services started its operation in late November, allowing world-wide users to access results of new variability analysis for Northern Sky Variability Survey light curves. New analysis results of various time-series data have been added to the StarDB services. Importantly, our services have supported a simple cone search, which is an internationally well-defined catalog search interface in the international Virtual Observatory systems. We have collected user access statistics such as how users find our analysis data since its operation in later November. We expect our analysis of the StarDB operation to help Korean community members who plan and operate their own web services preparing for a future era of big survey data.

웹 기반의 통계 프로그램의 유형 분석과 설계 방안 연구 (Design Scheme and Analysis of Web-Based Statistics Program Types)

  • 본 논문에서는 통계 어플리케이션을 웹 서버에서 내려받기 하여 클라이언트에 저장, 설치하고 stand alone 형태로 운영되도록 개발된 DAVIS에 대하여 개발 기법과 구현된 형태를 연구하고, 서버 기반의 통계 프로그램과 클라이언트 기반의 통계 프로그램에 대하여 고찰한다. 그리고 이들 유형에 대한 장단점을 파악하여 좀 더 발전된 통계학습시스템의 설계 방안을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 클라이언트 요청에 의하여 클라이언트에서 어플리케이션이 실행되고, 통계 데이터는 데이터베이스 서버에서 로드하거나 사용자에 의해 클라이언트에서 입력하는 형태로 설계되어 통계 분석을 수행토록 한다.

  • 최근 과학적 정책결정의 합리성을 뒷받침하기 위해서 통계에 대한 수요가 급증하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 통계 수요자들은 사용자가 필요한 통계표를 직접 실시간적으로 산출하고자 하는 요구를 지속적으로 제기하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 의사결정 및 통계시스템에서 주로 사용하고 있는 데이터웨어하우스, OLAP 시스템 및 스타스키마에 관하여 알아보고 수요자들의 다양한 요구에 부응하기 위한 교육인적자원 통계정보 시스템의 구축에 대해 기술한다. 또한 교육인적자원 통계정보시스템의 핵심기능인 Web OLAP 시스템을 통해서 수요자가 원하는 교육통계정보를 실시간적으로 산출하기 위한 시스템의 구축방안에 대하여 기술하고자 한다.

Statistical Image Processing using Java on the Web

  • The web is one of the most plentiful sources of images. The web has an immediate need for image processing technology in Java. This paper provides a practical introduction to statistical image processing using Java on the web. The paper describes how images are represented in Java and deals with four image processing operations based on basic statistical methods: point processing, spatial filtering, edge detection and image segmentation.
