Toughness of soft-hard composites and Wetting on Textured Substrates

  • In the first part, after discussing works on nacre, a soft-hard composite found in nature, including a simulation on network mimicking nacre [1-4], we talk on a simple model of spider webs, another example of natural soft-hard structure [5]. We demonstrate that the web network is free of stress concentrations because the radial threads are stronger than the spiral threads. In the second part, after reviewing our works on wetting on textured surfaces [6-8], we discuss penetration into textured surface and instability of a liquid film on textured substrates during spin coating [9,10].

  • For sound absorption and sound insulation in automobile industry, the sound absorption materials based on meltblown nonwovens were prepared by SMS (spunbond-meltblown-spunbond) technique. And the sound absorption coefficient (${\alpha}$) of the meltblown nonwoven, produced with isotatic-polypropylene(PP), was examined for the various processing conditions such as die-to-collector distance(DCD), nonwoven weight(GSM), and air suction conditions. The meltblown nonwoven for sound absorption materials was composed of bulky microfiber web, increasing with increases in weight and DCD. The sound absorption coefficient(${\alpha}$) was excellent as a sound absorption materials of PAD type composed of SMS(spunbond-meltblownspunbond) nonwovens.

  • Electrospinning has known to be very effective tool for production of versatile one-dimensional (1D) nanostructured materials such as nanofibers, nanorod, and nanotubes and for easily assembly to two-, three-dimensional(2D, 3D) nanostructures such as thin film, membrane, and nonwoven web, etc. We have studied on the electrospinning technology for novel energy storage and conversion materials such as advanced separator, dye sensitized solar cell, supercapacitor, etc. High heat-resistive nanofibrous membrane as a new separator for future lithium ion polymer battery was prepared by electrospinning of PVdF based composite solution. The novel nanofibrous composite nonwovens have tensile strength of above 50 MPa and modulus of above 1.3 GPa. The internal structure of the electrospun composite nanofiber with a diameter of few hundreds nanometer were composed of core-shell nanostructure. And also electrospun $TiO_2$ nanorod/nanosphere based dye-sensitized solar cells with high efficiency are successfully prepared. Some battery performance will be introduced.

  • Various raw materials from which iron and steel are made are unloaded from ship and then piled up at the designated yard. The equipment that piles up the raw materials is called Stacker and these materials are then dipped out and sent to unit factories such as blast furnace and cokes using the equipment called Reclaimer. The Reclaimer has an actual size of 16 meter high and 50 meter long and runs back and forth over the rail of about 1.2 km, carrying the materials to each unit factory. Until now, in most cases, Stacker and Reclaimer are manually operated. Analysis of Educational Web-Sites and Digital Contents for Elementary Music Class according to 2015 Revised Curriculum (2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등 음악 교육용 웹 사이트와 디지털 콘텐츠 분석)

  • The objective of this study is to analyze educational web-sites and digital contents for elementary music class according to the 2015 revised music curriculum. First, the current status of educational web-sites that are most actively used in music class were reviewed. And the characteristics of the digital contents included in the web-sites for music education were analyzed. the primary analysis was about the service of the web-sites, and the secondary analysis was about the type of digital contents and the contents of music education. The most actively used web-sites in music classes were Edunet T-Clear, T-Sherpa, i-scream, Indischool, which differed slightly from the web-site's services and the type of digital content and contents. Specifically, the main functions for supporting music classes, the reflection of the curriculum contents, the systematicity of the materials, the objectivity and the on-site nature, and the connection with other subjects appeared differently. In order to effectively utilize digital contents in elementary music class, first, expertise of teachers for timely use of web-sitesand digital contents is required. Second, the development and utilization of various digital contents for the nature of music education is required.

Usefulness of Web-based Education System as a Method Supporting Constructive Pre-service Teacher Education (구성주의 교사양성교육을 지원하는 방안으로서 웹 기반 교육 체제의 유용성)

  • In this study, we applied a web-based education system to the teaching-demonstrations of the pre-service teachers and identified the usefulness of the system as a method supporting constructive education for pre-service teachers. The pre-service teachers performed the web-based activities for the teaching-demonstrations, and we interviewed them after the teaching-demonstrations. On the basis of the results, we found three situations showing the usefulness of the web-based education system. First, the pre-service teachers examined the materials on the constructive teaching-learning theories and constructed the related theoretical knowledge. At this point the web-based discussion board supported the environment where they thought deeply and investigated the theories carefully. Second, they experienced interaction with others and the academic adviser in the processes of preparing the teaching-demonstrations. This interaction was supported by web-based discussion board, and they were able to form the practical knowledge related to the planning and building constructive teaching. Third, they reflected on their own teaching after the teaching-demonstrations. At this point, the web-based discussion board was able to facilitate the interaction for the reflective thinking processes. In this study, we identified that the web-based education system could provide an effective environment where the pre-service teachers could learn constructive teaching-learning methods.

Suitability and Readability Assessment of Printed Educational Materials on Hypertension (고혈압 교육 인쇄물의 적합성 및 이독성 평가)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the suitability and readability of printed educational materials for patients with hypertension in Korea. Methods: A total of 33 written educational materials related to hypertension were collected from public health centers, hospitals, and internet web site. Among them, we analyzed 19 materials which fit the inclusion criteria: leaflets (n=9), booklets (n=3), and guide book (n=7). Two trained nurses evaluate the materials using suitability assessment tool (SAM; Doak, Doak, & Root, 1996) and graded lexical items for teaching Korean (Kim, 2003). Results: Overall, 14 (73.7%) of 19 materials scored adequate, and 5 (26.3%) scored inadequate. On the average, the education materials contained 36.1% to 50.5% of 1st grade reading level words and 12.9% to 21.6% of 4th grade level and over. Conclusion: The reading level of the materials was higher than a 6th grade reading level. It is proposed that the written educational materials should be developed by health professionals according to suitability and quality by taking the target group's literacy capacity into consideration.

An Experimental Study on Web Link Analysis of the Korean National Archives (국가기록원 웹사이트 링크정보 분석에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, web link analysis of the Korean National Archives has been Performed using LexiURL to show the dynamic web flow of the National Archives and to identify which closely related institutions the archives should seek to cooperate with for developing an institutional strategic plan. Inlink and co-inlink analysis were performed and, to identify related institutions of the Korean National Archives. a comparison was made with other countries such as Australia, England and the United Stats. Through web link analysis, several features can be detected and future directions are suggested. Most inlinks and co-inlink of the Korean National Archives were from public institutions, indicating that relationships with educational or research institutions are weak. Moreover, Korean National Archives involve fewer web links related to international activities than other countries. Proceeding from these results, educational function, research function and international activities should be fortified. Korean National Archives need to provide more materials for supporting educational and research activities and more cultural interchange among related institutions. Further research with different heritage institutions such as libraries or museums is needed.

  • The Web is evolving quantitatively into an explosive development. However, users usually have heavy burden of searching information because of the absence of contextual meaning on the Web. Due to an enormous amount of information, users have to endure for finding strong cohesive keywords by themselves and read each of the documents with enduring effort. This paper proposes an efficient method of searching more relative documents than current KEM-based searching systems on the Web by using contextual meaning. We designed a domain ontology on computer hardware, and a searching system which was searching those e-Learning objects. Owing to the Ontology-applied search system, information such as educational materials and related multimedia can be easily provided to the users. Further, learners could be informed of relationship of knowledge, e.g., class hierarchy, properties and values, and so on. The request results are semantically related to users' needs, and thus the system provides a learner-centered searching.

  • The web is expected to cause the lot of its utilizing as a means of computer instructed learning and recently the applying instance on the web is more increasing in the education. From educational perspectives. the web-based instruction is much superior to any other medium in the view of interaction and greater to the amount of transmitted information. The various learning contents of WBI program can make students feel more excited and interested in learning activities. Also the creative talent and application abilities of the learner are able to be developed by mixing various sorts of multimedia materials up such as moving pictures. graphics and sounds. In this study, a WBI courseware learning program for the problem solving was designed and Proposed on the base of the theory of constructivism for the subject of social science in the 6th grade of elementary school. The experimental results showed that the learning accomplishment of an experimental class was much better than that of an existent class.
