CPW-fed Quasi-Yagi Antenna for UHF RFID and GPS Bands (코플래너 도파관으로 급전되는 UHF RFID 및 GPS 대역용 준-야기 안테나)

  • In this paper, we studied a design method for a coplanar waveguide-fed compact quasi-Yagi antenna for a dual band of the UHF RFID (915 MHz) and GPS (1.575 GHz). The proposed antenna is composed of three elements of a dipole, a reflector, and a director. To reduce its size, the ends of both the dipole and reflector are bent, the director is placed near to the dipole, and a balun is incorporated in the antenna. From some simulations, the proposed antenna using an FR4 substrate with 0.8 mm thickness was designed for the operations in the UHF RFID and GPS systems, and the antenna characteristics such as reflection coefficient, gain, and radiation patterns were examined.

  • We design and fabricate slot array antenna for BMWS(Broadband Multimedia Wireless System) applications. This paper presents a simple feed structure, which consists of two horns and a parallel-plate waveguide, because antennas operating at 40.5 GHz~43.5 GHz have considerable feeding losses. The simple feed structure has the advantages of high-efficiency and mass-production. The fabricated antenna has a gain of 25.8 dBi with a sidelobe level below -18 ㏈ and a 3 ㏈ beamwidth of approximately 3$^{\circ}$ in the E-plane. In case of H-plane, a 3 ㏈ beamwidth is 17$^{\circ}$ and a sidelobe level is suppressed to below -27 ㏈. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results. The authors expect that narrow 3 ㏈ beamwidth is obtained by combining a few proposed slot array antennas in parallel.

  • In this study, the antenna was proposed for the omni-directional characteristic in horizontal plane. Therefore we proposed $1{\times}4$ microstrip patch array on cylindrical surface for studying microstrip patch antennas. This antenna is designed for 2.45GHz ISM band and applications. This antenna can be applied to the base station of wireless microphone and access point of wireless LAN. The length and width of the patch antenna and the width of the feed line were calculated by using the theory of microstrip patch antenna, by using the both the 2.5D and 3D EM simulators the optimized antenna characteristics are obtained. From result of measured, antenna's impedance of coaxial waveguide port was 51.915-j3.688 ${\Omega}$, the return loss was -31dB and VSWR was 1.081.

  • Right hand circularly polarized Ka band microstrip patch array antenna was designed, manufacture and measurement were carried out. In order to lower axial ratio performance sequential rotation array technique was used. With mono-pulse feed There are sum and delta channel. Waveguide to microstrip transition was used. The 512 array antenna was performed which axial ratio is about 1.ldB in the half power beam width and also 1.ldB at the normal direction. Directivity gain of designed antenna is 32dB.

  • In this work, a compact patch antenna based on a low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) has been presented for V-band system-on-package (SoP) applications. In order to integrate it with transceiver block, a waveguide (W/G) to embedded microstrip line (eMSL) vertical transition was designed using slot-fed double stacked patch antennas for easy assembly and wide bandwidth. The $2{\times}2$ patch antenna integrating the transition was designed and fabricated in the 5-layer LTCC dielectrics. The whole size of the fabricated antenna including the $2{\times}2$ patches, transition and W/G was $20{\times}24{\times}5.39mm^3$. The fabricated antenna has achieved a 10 dB impedance bandwidth of 2.45 GHz from 61 to 63.45 GHz.

  • In this paper, a new design for a Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) fed wide-band slot antenna is presented. To enhance the impedance bandwidth of the slot antenna, we proposed the tapering slot structure. A various resonance modes are generated in the tapering slot. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is about 12:1 ($2.0GHz{\sim}24.3GHz$) with $VSWR{\le}2$. Simulation results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented.

  • We obtained the predicted and measured results for the reflection coefficient and radiation pattern of Ka-band (20- GHz) corrugated horn, which is usually used for feeder of reflector antenna for satellite communication, using suface impedance condition. In order to predict the reture losses of corrugated horn, we analyzed propagation constant of hybrid mode in the corrugated waveguide and then obtained the total reflection coefficient using the circuti theory of multi-step transformer. We also got the radiation pattern of corrugated horn with small flare angle, considering the phase deviation and integrate transverse field on aperture. A test model of corrugated horn antenna for Ka-band designed using theory and program displayed performance and the results agree with the theoretical prediction.

  • In this paper, a new design for a Coplanar Waveguide(CPW) fed wide-band slot antenna is presented. To enhance the impedance bandwidth of the slot antenna, we proposed the tapering slot structure.   • In this paper, we propose a UWB(Ultra Wide Band) antenna with CPW(Coplanar Waveguide) structure notched the 802.11a(5.15 ~ 5.825 GHz) band by using the U shaped slot. The proposed antenna not only shows Ultra-Wideband characteristic(3.1 ~ 10.6 GHz) suitable for UWB communications but has partially notched-band characteristic to reject 5 GHz WLAN band(5.15 ~ 5.825 GHz). The antenna is designed on an FR-4 substrate of which the dielectric constant is 4.4, and its overall size is $30mm(W){\times}20mm(L){\times}1mm(t)$. Fabricated antenna satisfied $VSWR{\leq}2$ in 3.1 ~ 10.6 GHz except for the band rejection of 5.15 ~ 5.825 GHz. And measured results of gain and radiation patterns characteristics displayed determined for operating bands.

Ridge-Loaded Small Round-Ended Slot for Waveguide Slot-Array Antenna (도파관 슬롯 배열 안테나용 리지가 장하된 끝이 둥근 소형 슬롯)

  • In this paper, a small round-ended slot loaded by double ridges on the broad wall of a rectangular waveguide is presented as an element for a waveguide slot-array antenna(WSAA). By properly adjusting the ridge dimension, a resonance of the slot at a desired frequency can be achieved. The resonant length of the proposed slot is about $0.26{\lambda}_0$(free space wave length) at the resonance frequency. The proposed resonant slot has some advantageous properties, such as small size, small resonant conductance, and short and stable resonant slot length. In addition, the characteristics of the slots are slightly affected by the adjacent elements when the slots are arrayed for a waveguide slot antenna. A $4{\times}1$ WSAA with -20 dB side-lobe level(SLL) is designed, fabricated, and tested experimentally. The measured results are well agreed with the simulated ones and have an SLL of -15.9 dB and a half-power beam width of $110.2^{\circ}$ in the E-plane and $21.2^{\circ}$ in the H-plane, respectively, at 9.41 GHz.
