건조 감귤의 제조조건 최적화 (Optimization on Preparation Conditions of Dried Citrus)

  • 감귤의 건조에 따른 품질 특성을 모니터링하고 기호도가 우수한 건조 감귤을 제조하고자 건조온도 및 건조시간에 대한 중심합성실험 계획으로 반응표면분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 수분활성도, 경도(hardness) 및 부드러움 정도(softness)는 건조온도에 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 건조 감귤의 건조온도가 증가할수록 수분 활성도는 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 경도는 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 부드러움 정도는 건조 온도가 낮고 건조시간이 짧을수록 높게 나타났다. 건조감귤의 전반적인 기호도는 건조온도가 낮을수록 높은 기호도를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 높은 기호도를 가지는 범위에서의 경도는 2.01 ∼ 3.20 ${\times}$ $10^{6}$ dyn/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 부드러움 정도는 62.54 ∼ 146.37 cm/kg의 범위로 나타났다. 이러한 범위를 만족시켜주는 건조 조건범위는 건조온도 66 ∼ 75$^{\circ}C$ 및 건조시간 8 ∼ 14 hr범위였다.

표면반발경도를 활용한 물-시멘트비별 콘크리트의 동결융해 손상 평가 (Evaluating the Freeze-Thaw Damage of Concrete with Respect to Water to Cement Ratio Using Surface Rebound Value)

  • 동결융해에 의한 콘크리트 손상 발생 시기를 평가하기 위하여 상대동탄성계수와 표면반발경도를 이용하여 비교하였다. 비교 결과 W/C 70 실험체군에서는 표면반발경도에 의한 콘크리트 손상 발생 평가가 200 싸이클 이상 빠르게 나타나는 것으로 관찰되었다. 뿐만 아니라 이후 점점 심해지는 동해를 표현할 수 있는 데이터를 지속적으로 제공해주어 동해 발생하는 초기 시점부터 동해를 확인할 수 있다는 것을 나타냈다. W/C 60과 50 실험체군에서도 표면반발경도가 콘크리트 동해 손상을 상대동탄성계수 보다 빠르게 평가했으며, 물-시멘트비에 변화에 상관없이 전반적으로 동결융해 손상시기 상대적으로 빠르고 정확하게 평가한 것으로 판단된다.

국내산(國內産) 대리석(大理石)의 지질공학적(地質工學的) 특성(特性) (Engineering Geological Properties of Some Domestic Marbles)

  • Mechanical, physical and petrographic properties of seventeen marble specimens collected from ten marble mines in Korea were investigated. Studied marbles were mainly composed of calcite, dolomite, and various amounts of serpentine, tremolite, olivine, quartz and opaque minerals. Complete and sutured textures were dominant. Compressive strength measured normal to the bedding plane is larger almost two times than that measured parallel to the bedding plane. From the results of Shore hardness test on marbles, water content was an important factor to decrease Shore hardness values. Engineering geological properties, especially, compressive strength, Young's modulus, wear resistance and water absorption could be controlled by the presence of quartz, and the type of marble texture. Water absorption-porosity, compressive strength-Young's modulus, and impact strength index-Los Angeles abrasion couples show good correlation. According to the comparative utility as commercial stone, it could be concluded that marbles from the Banglim mine, Songbo mine, Kwangdeok mine and Bongjeong mine were superior to that of other studied marbles.

Technologies for the Removal of Water Hardness and Scaling Prevention

  • In nucleation assisted crystallization process formed $CO_2$ leaves as colloid gas and is used as the template by the rapidly growing crystals in the nucleation site. This emulsion of $CaCO_3$ micro-crystals & $CO_2$ micro-bubbles forms hollow particles. Formed hollow particles are double walled, both internal and external faces belonging to the cleavage aragonites which separate the surrounding water from the enclosed gas cavity. Hence, the reverse reaction of $CO_2$ with water forming Carbonic Acid is not possible and the pH stability is maintained. In fact every excess $CaCO_3$ crystals are buffering any carbonic acid left over. This $CO_2$ based nucleation technology prevents scale formation in water channels, but it also helps to reduce the previously formed scales. This process takes out water dissolved $CO_2$ in almost-visible micro-bubbles forms that helps reducing previously formed scale over a period of time (depends on the usage period). The aragonite crystals can't form scale because of its stable molecular structure and neutral surface electro potentiality.

해수에서 폴리올 종류가 폴리우레탄 폼의 물성에 미치는 영향 (Study on Type of Different Polyols for Physical Properties of Polyurethane Foam Under Sea Water)

  • 해수 하에서 경시 변화에 따른 경질 폴리우레탄 폼(PUF)의 물성 변화를 알아보기 위해 방향족 폴리에스테르 폴리올, 지방족 폴리에스테르 폴리올과 지방족 폴리에테르 폴리올 함량에 따라 경질 폴리우레탄 폼을 합성하였다. 해수 하에서 PUF의 물성변화를 고찰하기 위해 만능시험기, 시차 주사 열량계, 경도 측정기, 적외선 분광계를 이용하였다. 방향족 폴리에스테르 폴리올의 함량이 증가함에 따라 해수 하에서 경시 변화에 따라 PUF의 압축강도와 경도의 감소폭은 증가하였다. 해수 하에서 PUF의 유리전이온도는 증가하였는데 적외선 스펙트럼 분석 결과 우레탄과 우레아의 피크는 감소하고, 알로파네이트와 바이우렛의 피크는 증가한 것을 알 수 있었다. 해수 하에서 PUF는 가교도가 증가하여 폼이 brittle하게 형성됨에 따라 유리전이온도가 증가하였지만 가수 분해로 인하여 기계적 물성이 저하된 것으로 사료 된다.

발전 보일러용 크롬 저합금강의 용접후열처리 특성 (Characteristics of the Post-Weld Heat Treatment of Chrome Low Alloy Material for a Power Plant Boiler)

  • This study investigated characteristics of the post-weld heat treatment of SA213-T23, which was developed for water wall of the ultra super critical power boiler. The temperature of post weld heat treatment should be $730^{\circ}C$ or higher to reduce hardness of the deposit metal and heat affected zone. Coincidently, the temperature should remain $760^{\circ}C$ or lower to prevent hardness of the base metal from dropping. Hardness decline of deposit metal was trivial according to time when the holding time of heat treatment at $740^{\circ}C$ of post-weld heat treatment gradually increased from initial 15 minutes.

과일류의 염소 소독 방법에 따른 이화학적 및 관능적 품질 특성 변화 (Changes in Physicochemical and Sensory Properties of Fruits as Affected by Chlorine Sterilization)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in physicochemical and sensory properties of raw fruits during washing and chlorine treatments. Strawberry and banana were pre-prepared at different concentration of chlorinated water(0 ppm, 50 ppm and 100 ppm), immersion time(3 min and 5 min), and number of post-rinsing(1 time, 2 times and 3 times). The physicochemical properties such as pH, sugar contents, residual chlorine contents, color values and hardness of the fruits were analyzed, and the sensory quality were evaluated throughout the sterilization treatment process. After washing strawberry with 100 ppm chlorinated water and 3 times of post-rinsing, pH and residual chlorine contents were showed a little difference, while sugar contents, hardness, and color values(L, a and b) were reduced. In case of banana, pH, sugar contents and residual chlorine contents were not affected, and hardness and L color value were reduced. However, a and b color values of banana were gradually increased as the development of brown discoloration. Sensory properties of the samples were affected by the chlorine sterilization treatment. In overall acceptance, strawberry and banana treated with 100 ppm chlorinated water showed the lowest scores among treatments. Therefore it could be suggested that the application of 50 ppm chlorinated water for $3{\sim}5$ minutes with over 3 times of post-rinsing was the effective pre-preparation method without affecting the quality of the fruits.

경도제거용 나노여과막의 표면 특성 분석 및 막오염기작 연구 (Surface Characterization of NF membranes for Hardness Removal and Its Implications to Fouling Mechanisms)

  • In recent years, NF (nanofiltration) membrane has been receiving great attention for hardness removal and has begun to replace traditional lime soda ash softening process, particularly in Florida, USA, mainly due to less sludge production and easy operation. This study aimed to provide detailed surface characteristics of various commercial NF membranes by performing sophisticated surface analysis, which would help more fundamentally understand the performance of NF membranes. More specifically, a total of 7 NF membranes from top NF/RO manufacturers in the world were examined for basic performance tests, surface analysis, and fouling potential assessment. The results demonstrated that NF membranes are classified into two groups in terms of surface zeta potential; they are highly negatively charged ones, and neutral and/or less negatively charged ones. Their hydrophobicities, measured by contact angle, varied from hydrophilic to slightly hydrophobic ones. The AFM measurements showed various surface roughness, ranging from 23 nm (smooth) to 162 nm (rough) of average peak height. Lab-scale fouling experiments were performed using feedwater obtained from conventional water treatment plants in the province of Korea, and their results attempted to correlate to surface characteristics of NF membranes. However, unlike typical RO membranes, no clear correlation was found in this study, indicating that fouling mechanisms of NF membrane may be different from those of typical RO membranes, and both cake deposition and pore blocking mechanisms should be considered simultaneously.

목장지역 음용수의 위생학적 조사연구 (Studies on the Sanitation of Potable Water in Farm Areas)

  • In order to investigate the hygienic conditions of potable water in farm area, we examined the hygienic bacteriological and chemical tests of the 159 waters in the farm areas of Kwangjugun, Namyangju-gun, Yangpyung-gun Paju-gun and Hwasung-gun.The results were as follows: 1. Of the 159 waters, the average numbers of standard plate count and coliform were 920 $\pm$ 250ml and 450 $\pm$ 380/100 ml, respectively. The average pH was 6.74 $\pm$ 0.08, KMnO$_4$ consumption 4.18 $\pm$ 0.23 mg/l, turbidity 0.74 $\pm$ 0.08 degree, NH$_3$-N 0.07 $\pm$ 0.02 mg/l, NO$_3$-N 7.76 $\pm$ 0.48 mg/l, total hardness 101.3 $\pm$ 4.7mg/l, chlorine 18.6 $\pm$ 1.3mg/l, sulfate 12.9 $\pm$ 1.0 mg/l, lead 0.036 $\pm$ 0.003 mg/l, manganese 0.017 $\pm$ 0.003 mg/l, zinc 0.064 $\pm$ 0.005 mg/l, and copper 0.010 $\pm$ 0.001 mg/l, respectively. 2. Of the 159 waters, 84 samples (52.8%) were over 100 per ml of SPC or detected coliform per 100 ml water and 63 samples (39.6%) exceed over physicochemical limited criteria for potable water. NO$_3$-N was the primary item among excess contents of potable water in farm areas. 3. The contents of total hardness, chlorine and NO$_3$-N in Hwasung-gun were higher than those in the other regions, but the numbers of SPC and coliform in Yangpyung-gun and Namyangjugun were higher than those in the other regions. 4. The correlationships among many items were highly significant (SPC, Coliform, KMnO$_4$ consumption NH$_4$-N, NO$_3$-N, KMnO$_4$, Total hardness, Chlorine, Sulfate).

Phase I, phase II 효소 및 ornithine decarboxylase에 미치는 해양심층수의 영향 (Effect of Deep Sea Water on Phase I, Phase II and Ornithine Decarboxylase.)

  • 동해에서 취수한 해양심층수의 암예방 효능을 얄아보고자 암발생 억제물질의 생화학적 표식자(biochemical markers)인 CYP 1A2 활성, phase II 효소인 QR과 GST의 활성, GSH 함량 및 ODC 활성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 해양심층수는 암의 개시단계(initiation)를 유발시키는 것으로 알려진 CYP 1A2 활성을 경도의존적으로 저해시켰다. 해양심층수를 Hepa 1clc7 세포에 경도별$(100{\sim}1,000)$로 처리하였을 때 phase II 생체 해독효소인 QR과 GST의 활성은 최대 20%의 증가를 나타내었고, 외부의 독성물질이나 대사산물로부터 세포를 보호하는 역할을 하는 GSH의 함량은 $26{\sim}40%$의 증가를 나타내었다. 그리고 발암과정의 촉진/진행단계에 관여하는 ODC의 활성은 해양심층수의 경도 800과 1,000에서 20%와 35%의 저해율을 나타내었으며, 경도 1,000을 처리한 군에서는 양성대조군인 DFMO와 같은 저해율을 나타내었다. 그러므로 본 연구 결과에 의하면 동해 해양심층수는 발암과정과 관련된 개시 및 촉진/진행단계를 저해시켜 암예방 효능을 나타낼 것으로 사료된다.
