  • This study was accompanied to develop the management and application plans as resources for rural tourism through the analysis of distribution characteristics, inhabitants' practical use, need item for management and application, and aesthetic/recreation function of Palustrine wetland in rural area. The 2.3 Palustrine wetland per farm village were located, and 77.5% of total wetland was used by agricultural water, landscape, rural tourism The management and water quality were steadily getting better in used wetland than in unused wetland. Also, 91.8% of respondents answered that there is a practical use plan afterward, and much preferred the mode of ecotourism through restoration of ecological wetland. As the results from the appropriateness evaluation of management and application in used wetland for ecotourism, improvement item was required in observation deck, entrance lane, guidance facilities etc. And, insufficient result was deduced in appropriateness of operation program and special learning course, and in participation of inhabitants and experts. The result of evaluation of the aesthetic and recreation functions generally appeared high, but the need improvement item was required in artificial water wall and plantation base that deteriorate biological diversity. These results will be used to data for conservation, management and practical use of wetland, an important natural resource in farm village, which are confronted in crisis of land reclamation by use reduction of use and false management.

  • In this study a method to predict CHF(Critical heat flux) in vertical round tubes with axially non-uniform cosine heat flux distribution for water was examined. For this purpose a local condition hypothesis based CHF prediction correlation for uniform heat flux in vertical round tubes for water was developed from 9,366 CHF data points. The local correlation consisted of 4 local condition variables: the system pressure(P), tube diameter(D), mass flux of water(G), and 'true mass quality' of vapor($X_t$). The CHF data points used were collected from 13 different published sources having the following operation ranges: 1.01 ${\leq}$ P (pressure) ${\leq}$ 206.79 bar, 9.92${\leq}$ G (mass flux) ${\leq}$ 18,619.39 $kg/m^2s$, 0.00102 ${\leq}$ D(diameter) ${\leq}$ 0.04468 m, 0.0254${\leq}$ L (length) ${\leq}$ 4.966 m, 0.11 ${\leq}$ qc (CHF) ${\leq}$ 21.41 $MVW/m^2$, and -0.87 ${\leq}X_c$ (exit qualities) ${\leq}$ 1.58. The result of this work showed that a uniform CHF correlation can be easily extended to predict CHF in axially non-uniform heat flux heater. In addition, the location of the CHF in axially non-uniform tube can also be determined. The local uniform correlation predicted CHF in tubes with axially cosine heat flux profile within the root mean square error of 12.42% and average error of 1.06% for 297 CHF data points collected from 5 different published sources.

  • Amidst the global climate crisis, dam operation policies formulated under the stationary climate assumption could lead to unsatisfactory water management. In this work, we assessed status-quo performance of the Yongdam Dam in Korea under various climatic stresses in flood risk reduction and water supply reliability for 2021-2040. To this end, we employed a decision-centric framework equipped with a stochastic weather generator, a conceptual streamflow model, and a machine-learning reservoir operation rule. By imposing 294 climate perturbations to dam release simulations, we found that the current operation rule of the Yongdam dam could redundantly secure water storage, while inefficiently enhancing the supply reliability. On the other hand, flood risks were likely to increase substantially due to rising mean and variability of daily precipitation. Here, we argue that the current operation rules of the Yongdam Dam seem to be overly focused on securing water storage, and thus need to be adjusted to efficiently improve supply reliability and reduce flood risks in downstream areas.

  • Evaluating the qualitative the qualitative process of water resources by using various indicators, as one of the most prevalent methods for optimal managing of water bodies, is necessary for having one regular plan for protection of water quality. In this study, zoning maps were developed on a yearly basis by collecting and reviewing the process, validating, and performing statistical tests on qualitative parameters҆ data of the Iranian aquifers from 1995 to 2020 using Geographic Information System (GIS), and based on Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW), Radial Basic Function (RBF), and Global Polynomial Interpolation (GPI) methods and Kriging and Co-Kriging techniques in three types including simple, ordinary, and universal. Then, minimum uncertainty and zoning error in addition to proximity for ASE and RMSE amount, was selected as the optimum model. Afterwards, the selected model was zoned by using Scholar and Wilcox. General evaluation of groundwater situation of Iran, revealed that 59.70 and 39.86% of the resources are classified into the class of unsuitable for agricultural and drinking purposes, respectively indicating the crisis of groundwater quality in Iran. Finally, for validating the extracted results, spatial changes in water quality were evaluated using the Groundwater Quality Index (GWQI), indicating high sensitivity of aquifers to small quantitative changes in water level in addition to severe shortage of groundwater reserves in Iran.

  • With the IMF crisis in the late 1990's, coupled with the excessive supply of housing stock from the past, construction companies are adopting various differentiating strategies to address the decreasing apartment sales rates. Most of those strategies tend to follow the recent trend of 'eco-friendliness,' creating images of the apartments as 'well-being housing types.' In doing so, green spaces and water features are actively being used in outdoor landscapes design. One specific trend that can be witnessed is the efforts to make reference to the traditional Korean design languages, known as the 'Korean Style.' However, the applications of the 'Korea Style' on landscape design are being explored only by the construction companies, while most researches on the 'Korean Style' focus on its application on the indoor housing units. In this context, this series of case studies of the application of 'Korea Style' on landscape design attempts to extract design elements that can be set as basic guidelines.

  • Fossil fuel such as oil and natural gas has been used and will be no longer supplied enough to demand in the beginning of thisg century. The use of the fuel makes a lot of environmental pollution to threaten human being's health especially in big cities and produces a lot of $CO_{2}$ to make green house effect of the earth. It is the time to use clean fuel such as hydrogen to prevent the expected energy crisis and the pollution. A new engine such as fuel cell can be used instead of the conventional internal combustion engine with 2 to 3 times higher efficiency of the conventional engine. The fuel cell uses hydrogen and oxygen and produces electric energy and pure water, which is a calm engine without air pollution. In big cities the city buses and the taxies powered by hydrogen fuel cells are suggested to be operated for clean environment. The energy and cost analysis performed for hydrogen and electricity production from wind power and solar cell.

  • Running low of fossil fuel energy forces the industry to find a new way to overcome this energy crisis. One of the solutions is using the unlimited and everlasting energy sources like wind, sun, water, and so on. Especially, sun energy becomes the hottest issue in recent years because of its merit in installation, operation and abundant material source of silicon. In 2008, about 5.5GW photovoltaic (PV) system has been installed all around world. Many professional renewable energy organizations expect that the total PV system installation will be 30GW. To sustain the long-term stability of the PV system, several institutes perform the test based on IEC standards like IEC 61215 for silicon crystalline PV module and IEC 61646 for thin film PV module. Also in South Korea, Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) performs the certificate test according to IEC 61215 standards. In this paper, we want to summarize and inform the 3 years‘ test results of domestic and foreign PV modules. The specific and technical explanation will be shown in the following paper in detail.

  • Fossil oil, as the main energy of transportation, is destined to be exhausted. The electrification of transportation is a sustainable solution to the energy crisis, since electric power could be acquired from the inexhaustible sun, wind and water. Among all the problems that hinder the development of Electric Vehicle (EV) industry, charging issue might be the most prominent one. In this paper, the service process of a charging station with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is analyzed by means of $Cram{\acute{e}}r$ - Lundberg model which has been intensively utilized in ruin theory. The service quality is proposed in two dimensions: the service efficiency and the service reliability. The arrival rate and State of Charge (SOC) upon arrival are derived from 2009 National Household Travel Survey (NHTS). The simulations are performed to show how the service quality is determined by the system parameters such as the number of servers, the service rate, the initial capacity, the charge rate and the maximum waiting time. At last, the economic analysis of the system is conducted and the best combination of the system parameters are given.
