  • This paper included the preventive measures and the prospect of lake eutrophication in korea. All pollution control techniques must be applied after the characteristics of the lakes are surveyed sufficlenty, Most of Korean lakes are the large man-made ones and their characteristics are different from those of natural ones in foreign nation. Some of many techniques for natural lakes can be applied in our lakes also, others must be revised. Lake water quality can be ameliorated only by systematic researches and technologies because lake ecosystem is very complicated. It is impossible to improve water quality with fragmentary and shortterm projects.

  • The steam generator level is susceptible to the nonminimum phase in dynamics due to the thermal reverse effects known as "shrink and swell" in a pressurized water reactor. A state feedback assisted control concept is presented for the change of dynamic performance to the minimum phase the concept incorporates a nonlinear digital observer as a part of the control system. The observer is deviced to estimate the state variables that provide the true indication of water inventory by compensating for shrink and swell effects. The concept is validated with implementation into the steam generator simulation model.

  • A small scale centrifugal oil separator consisted of two concentric tubes was fabricated for spilt oil recovery. With speed control of the inner tube, its performance of oil separation was investigated. Oil-water mixture is separated by forced vortex motion with the rotating inner tube. Velocity and pressure distributions in the tubes were calculated. Control of rotating speed, which is the most influencing parameter, showed an optimum value 946rpm corresponding to the acceleration of 20g at the inner tube surface. Separation performance was suddenly deteriorated at rotating speed higher than 1200rpm.

  • When considering marine pollution control procedures there are three general areas which demand close attention. These are: $\bullet$ oily bilge water $\bullet$ refuse $\bullet$ sewage All of these applications can be handled constantly changing to address the complexity of the waste management issues. The basic marine pollution regulations are covered by the International Maritime Organizations MARPOL 73/78 convention, with the various annexes and revisions. Of particular importance for equipment to deal with oily-water, sewage and plastic wastes.

  • The tap water is generally known to be corrosive in the pH range at 6.5 ~ 7.5. And the degree of corrosion varies depending on the types of raw water such as river surface water or lake water of the dam. Although several corrosion index represents the corrosivity of tap water, the typical corrosion indexes such as Langelier saturation index (LI) and calcium carbonate precipitation potential (CCPP) were calculated to monitoring the corrosive water quality about raw and tap water in water distribution system. To control the corrosive water quality, the correlation between corrosion index and water quality factors were examined. In this study, corrosion index (LI, CCPP) and the pH was found to be most highly correlated.

  • The objective of this study is to develop water saving irrigation method using water balance model in order to save rural water. Daily water balance components such as irrigation water, drainage water, effective rainfall, ET, and infiltration were measured in paddy fields. Model simulations were performed for different outlet heights and ponding depths. The outlet heights and the ponding depths are 2 cm, 4 cm, 6 cm, 8 cm, and 10 cm, respectively. Based on the simulation very shallow ponding depth of 2 cm with 10 cm outlet height showed the largest effective rainfall ratio and the smallest irrigation amount. Until the introduction of laser leveling dozer and automatic inlet control devices, it would be desirable to adopt 4cm ponding depth because of difficulty of land leveling and frequency of farmer's field visit. The results of this study will be applied in the paddy farming and can improve water use efficiency.

  • The principal operation rule of irrigation reservoir is to accelerate the water use and supply water actively when water is sufficient, and to restrict water use and supply water deficiently in order not to stop the irrigation activity when water is scarce. In drought seasons. water should be saved in order to keep the reservoir not to be dried up during the irrigation season. It is important to know how much water should be saved, depending on the rice-growing season and water storage volume. For the drought control of irrigation reservoirs. the rotational irrigation scheduling in paddy with the operation rule curve developed in this study could be utilized as a software program to install TM/TC system for irrigation water supply by automation facilities.

  • The main purpose of this study was to investigate the red water reducing effects of phosphate based inhibitor when it was applied to water distribution system. The effects of pH, alkalinity, calcium concentration in the reduction of the red water also studied. The most finished water in Korea showed relatively high corrosiveness and was required to introduce some types of corrosion reducing methods such as addition of alkalinity. The precipitation of $CaCO_3$ by addition of $Ca(OH)_2$ formed porous film on the surface of the carbon steel pipes and was displaced easily from the surface of the pipes; on the other hand, addition of zinc phosphate (ZOP) formed reliable film on the surface and reduced iron release and color. Although the main function of ZOP was to suppress the release of Pb and Cu, it also reduced iron concentration released from water distribution pipes.

  • Generally, level control in the steam generator of a nuclear power plant is difficulty process control, because the low power operating can lead nonminimum phase characteristics(swell and shrink phenomenon) and flow measurement are unreliable and nonlinear characteristics. This paper presents a framework for solving this problem based on the constrained linear model predictive control and introduces the design of method for the level of the controller in the entire operating power of the steam generator, and compares with conventional PI controller.
