This study was carried out to resplace traditional virgin wood fiber by recycled MDF-waste fiber for the manufacture of high density fiberboard. For the recycling, MDF waste was disintegrated for 10 minutes and beaten for 15 minutes. There was no difference in formaldehyde emission by desiccator method between virgin wood fiber and disintergrated and beaten MDF-waste fiber. Fiberboard which was maded from 100% of disintergrated and beaten MDF-waste fiber showed similar physical and mechanical properties to those of virgin fiber. The yield of recycled fiber from MDF waste was 85%.
Shredded waste newspapers, waste acrylic raw fibers, and urea-formaldehyde (UF) adhesives, at 10% by weight on raw material, were used to produce recycled waste paper-waste acrylic raw fiber composite boards in laboratory scale experiments. The physical and mechanical properties of fire retardant treated recycled waste paper-waste acrylic raw fiber composite boards were examined to investigate the possibility of using the composites as internal finishing materials with specific gravities of 0.8 and 1.0, containing 5, 10, 20, and 30(wt.%) of waste acrylic raw fiber and 10, 15, 20, and 25(wt.%) of fire retardant (inorganic chemical, FR-7®) using the fabricating method used by commercial fiberboard manufacturers. The bending modulus of rupture increased as board density increased, decreased as waste acrylic raw fiber content increased, and also decreased as the fire retardant content increased. Mechanical properties were a little inferior to medium density fiberboard (MDF) or hardboard (HB), but significantly superior to gypsum board (GB) and insulation board (IB). The incombustibility of the fire retardant treated composite board increased on increasing the fire retardant content. The study shows that there is a possibility that composites made of recycled waste paper and waste acrylic raw fiber can be use as fire retardant internal finishing materials.
PURPOSES : To evaluate the feasibility of cut waste fishing net as a reinforced fiber for concrete. METHODS : Strength characteristics of fiber reinforced concrete using waste fishing net were investigated. The cut waste fishing nets with 4~5cm length were putted into the soil-cement and cement concrete for pavement slab. RESULTS : Compression and tensile strength of fiber reinforced concrete using waste fishing net were increased. CONCLUSIONS : It was concluded that cut waste fishing net can be used as a reinforced fiber for cement concrete. However, sometimes using cut waste fishing net leads to decrease the strength; therefore, further researches are needed for real project.

Using waste glass in concrete can cause crack and strength loss by the expansion of alkali-silica reaction(ASR). In this study, ASR expansion and properties of strength were analyzed in terms of brown waste glass content, and fibers(steel fiber, polypropylene fiber) and fiber content for reduction ASR expansion due to waste glass. In this accelerated ASTM C 1260 test of waste glass, pessimum content can not be found. Also, when used the fibers with waste g1ass, there is an effect on reduction of expansion and strength loss due to ASR between the alkali in the cement paste and the silica in the waste glass. Specially, adding 1.5 vol.% of steel fiber to 20% of waste glass the expansion ratio was reduced by 40% and flexural strength was developed by up to 110% comparing with only Waste glass ( $80^{\circ}C$$H_{2}$ O curing).

This study was carried out to displace traditional virgin wood fiber by exploded MDF-waste fiber for the manufacture of medium density fiberboard. MDF waste was exploded in condition of $215^{\circ}C,20$ minutes. The higher the mixing ratio of exploded MDF-waste fiber, the lower the MOR and IB of MDF. There was no difference of formaldehyde emission by desiccator method between virgin wood fiber and exploded MDF-waste fiber. Adding $25^{\circ}C$ of exploded MDF-waste fiber met the KS of MDF 15 type.
This research investigates the mixture proportioning of waste newsprint paper fiber for thin-cement product. Waste newsprint paper fibers obtained through shredded mechanically by a dry process. Waste newsprint paper fiber reinforced cement composites was manufacted by slurry-dewatering method. The waste newsprint paper fiber reinforcement conditions (fiber mass fraction, level of substitution of virgin fibers, level of fiber beating) and processing variables (pressed, unpressed) are optimized through experimental studies and statistical analyses based on factorial design of experiments and analyses of variance. The optimized recycled waste newsprint paper fiber reinforced cement composites were technically evaluated. The results are shown to possess acceptable properties and strong potentials of the recycling of waste newsprint paper of the reinforcement of thin-cement products.

As one of the resource recovery projects, this study aims to select natural fibers and synthetic fibers that can be used for concrete mixing among waste fibers and reuse them for the base concrete mixture. Using waste fiber, we seek a solution to the problem of reduced fluidity and hardening time of fiber-reinforced concrete and find the optimal mix of the ground concrete mixed with waste fiber.
Since recycling waste glass as a material for concrete has a great advantage environmentally and economically, the US, Japan and other countries have started recycling waste glass widely and accumulating the technology of manufacturing equipment and its construction. However, there is no practical data on the mechanical property of concrete using waste glass. In this study, the mechanical property of the steel fiber reinforced concrete using waste glass was analyzed in terms of waste glass content(20vo1. %, 40vo1. % as a part of fine aggregate) and steel fiber content(0.5~ 1.5vol.%). The results of this study are as follows : The workability of the concrete including steel fiber and waste glass decreases, as the inclusion rate of waste glass and steel fiber increases. The tensile strength, flexural strength and flexural toughness of the concrete including waste glass increase considerably, as the inclusion rate of steel fiber increases. From the results, the appropriate inclusion rate of steel fiber and waste glass is thought to be 1.0vol. % and 20vo1. %, respectively.

As growing of industrialization and increasing of population, the quantities of waste glasses are rapidly growing in the earth. It cause some problems such as the waste of natural resources and environmental pollution. In this context, recycling waste glass as a material of concrete has a great advantage environmentally and economically. This study is aimed to investigate the effect of load and deflection on fiber reinforced concrete slab model utilizing waste glass by fine aggregates. The flexural strength of the concrete including waste glass increased considerably, as the inclusion rate of steel fiber were increased. And the first crack load, maximum load and energy absorption capacity increased remarkably as the inclusion rate of steel fiber were increased. Therefore, in this study we confirmed the possibility of application for the usage of waste glass to the steel fiber reinforced concrete.
Ecological issues such as natural resource reduction and enormous waste disposals are increasingly leading in developing civilization toward sustainable construction. The two primary environmental issues are the depletion of natural resources and the disposal of trash in open landfills. Waste steel fiber (WSF) was investigated for usage as a cement-based concrete (CBC) constituent in this research. Recycling waste fibers both makes cement composites more long and cost-effective, also aids in pollution reduction. The objective of this study is to analyze the impacts of waste fiber on the fresh and mechanical features of concrete using recycled additives. A comparative research on the durability and mechanical qualities of fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) constructed with natural aggregates was conducted for this aim. The obstacles to successful WSF recycling methods application in the building industry have been investigated, resulting that CBCs with these fibers make an economic and long lasting choice to deal with waste materials. The workability of fiber enhanced concrete was found to be comparable to that of normal concrete. Fibers have a considerable impact on the splitting tensile strength, flexural and compressive strength of recycled concrete. Fiber may enhance the water permeability. When the WSF content is 0.6 kg/m3, the water absorption is nearly half. Fibers would have no effect on its permeability.
