This study was carried out to screen the effective polymeric additives preventing wall growth during mycelial submerged cultivation of Ganoderma. lucidum. Effects of additives on mycelial growth and exo-polysaccharide (EPS) production in flask culture and jar fermenter system under 3 different pH processes were investigated, and changes of mycelial morphology were also examined. From flask culture of G. lucidum with additives of different concentrations, 0.1%(w/v) polyacrylic acid was effective for EPS production. As the polyacrylic acid of 0.1%(w/v) was added in medium, wall growth of G. lucidum mycelium grown in jar fermenter system could be protected. The addition of 0.1%(w/v) polyacrylic acid to medium was also improved the mycelial growth and EPS production in the later of submerged culture G. lucidum and no changes of mycelial morphology were observed.

Nucleate pool boiling experiments for R11 under a constant wall temperature condition were carried out. A microscale heater array was used for the heating and the measurement of high temporal and spatial resolution by the Wheatstone bridge circuit. Very sensitive heat flow rate data were obtained by the control for the surface condition with high time resolution. The measured heat flow rate shows a discernable peak at the initial growth stage and reaches an almost constant value. In the thermal growth region, bubble shows a growth proportional to $t^{\frac{1}{5}}$. The bubble growth behavior is analyzed with a dimensionless parameter to compare with the previous results in the same scale. As the wall superheat increases, the departure diameter and the departure time increase, and the waiting time decreases. But the asymptotic growth rate is not affected by the wall superheat change. The effect of the wall superheat is resolved into the suggested growth equation. Dimensionless parameters of time and bubble radius characterize the thermal growth behavior well, irrespective of wall condition. The comparison between the result of this study and the previous results shows a good agreement at the thermal growth region. The quantitative analysis for the heat transfer mechanism is conducted with the measured heat flow rate behavior and the bubble growth behavior. The required heat flow rate for the volume change of the observed bubble is about twice as much as the instantaneous heat flow rate supplied from the wall.
The insulation of a building envelope influences the hygrothermal performance as well as the thermal performance of the building. While most of Korean wood frame houses have an interior insulation system, the exterior insulation system with high thermal performance has recently been applied. While it can be effective in energy savings for better insulation performance, without consideration of the moisture, condensation and mould growth can occur. Therefore, in this study, hygrothermal behaviour, water content, and mould growth were analyzed using hygrothermal simulation of an exterior wall of a wood frame house with which the interior insulation and exterior insulation systems were applied. The wall layer included Wall A (Interior insulation) and Wall B (Exterior insulation). The U-values were identified as 0.173 and $0.157W/m^2K$, respectively. The total water content and OSB absolute water content of Wall A were confirmed to be higher than those of Wall B, but the absolute water content did not exceed the reference value of 20%. The moisture content of the two walls was determined to be stable in the selected areas. However, mould growth risk analysis confirmed that both Wall A and Wall B were at risk of mould growth. It was confirmed that as the indoor setting temperature decreased, the mould index and growth rate in the same area increased. Therefore, the mould growth risk was affected more by indoor and outdoor climate conditions than by the position of the insulation. Consequently, the thermal performance of Wall B was superior to that of Wall A but the hygrothermal performances were confirmed to be similar.

CdTe thin films were grown on GaAs (100) substrates by hot wall epitaxy method. From the XRD measurements, it was found that CdTe/GaAs (100) film was grown as a single crystals with the different from growth plane of (III), and growth rate of CdTe thin films was found to be 30 $\AA/sec$ by SEM. To acquire a high quality CdTe thin film, the optimum temperature for the source and substrate are found to be $500^{\circ}C$ and $320^{\circ}C$, respectively, which was checked by PL.

Objective : Until now, it has been little known about the biological mechanisms associated with the genesis, growth, and rupture of intracranial aneurysm. This study was performed to investigate and understand a part of these mechanisms. Materials and Methods : Immunohistochemical stains for angiogenesis growth factors(basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)) and selected vascular wall matrix proteins(alpha smooth muscle actin(${\alpha}SMA$) and collagen Type IV) were performed in fixed sections from a normal circle of Willis artery which was taken from the autopsy specimen as a control vessel and 17 aneurysmal wall specimens which was taken during surgical clipping of aneurysms. The staining intensity and distribution of immunoreactivity to angiogenesis growth factors and selected wall matrix proteins in control vessel and aneurysmal wall were examined and compared with each other. The difference of staining intensity according to the size of aneurysm was also investigated. Results : There was no immunoreactivity to bFGF and VEGF in the control vessel. bFGF immunoreactivity was exhibited in 15 of 17 aneurysm specimens around smooth muscle cells within the media of aneurysm. VEGF immunoreactivity was also exhibited in all aneurysm specimens in patches or diffusely affecting all layers of the aneurysmal wall. The degrees of intensity of bFGF and VEGF immunoexpression were proportionate roughly to the size of aneurysm. Strong immunoexpression of both factors were noticed in large aneurysm. A regularly arranged and defined band of immunoreactivity of ${\alpha}SMA$ was noticed in the media of the control vessel, whereas diffuse, faint, irregularly arranged ${\alpha}SMA$ was noticed in the aneurysmal wall. A regularly defined band of collagen Type IV immunoreactivity was also noticed in the subendothelium of the control vessel, whereas diffuse disorganized immunoreactivity of collagen Type IV was noticed in the entire wall of the aneurysm. Conclusion : These results indicate substantial evidences of abnormal expression of angiogenesis factors and changes of selected vascular wall matrix proteins in the wall of intracranial aneurysm. The unbalanced changes of angiogenesis factors and vascular wall matrix proteins in the wall of aneurysm may be one of the biological mechanisms for the growth and rupture of aneurysm.

Nucleate boiling experiments on heating surface of constant wall temperature were performed using R113 for almost saturated pool boiling conditions. A microscale heater array and Wheatstone bridge circuits were used to maintain a constant wall temperature condition of heating surface and to measure the heat flow rate with high temporal and spatial resolutions. Bubble images during the bubble growth were taken as 5000 frames per second using a high-speed CCD camera synchronized with the heat flow rate measurements. The bubble growth behavior was analyzed using the new dimensionless parameters for each growth regions to permit comparisons with previous experimental results at the same scale. We found that the new dimensionless parameters can describe the whole growth region as initial and later (thermal) respectively. The comparisons showed good agreement in the initial and thermal growth regions. In the initial growth region including surface tension controlled, transition and inertia controlled regions as divided by Robinson and Judd, the bubble growth rate showed that the bubble radius was proportional to $t^{2/3}$ regardless of working fluids and heating conditions. And in the thermal growth region as also called asymptotic region, the bubble showed a growth rate that was proportional to $t^{1/5}$, also. Those growth rates were slower than the growth rates proposed in previous analytical analyses. The required heat flow rate for the volume change of the observed bubble was estimated to be larger than the heat flow rate measured at the wall. Heat, which is different from the instantaneous heat supplied through the heating wall, can be estimated as being transferred through the interface between bubble and liquid even with saturated pool condition. This phenomenon under a saturated pool condition needs to be analyzed and the data from this study can supply the good experimental data with the precise boundary condition (constant wall temperature).

This study was carried out to investigate the changes and composition of the non-cellulosic neutral sugars in cell wall of soybean sprouts during growth. The composition of non-cellulosic neutral sugars in cell of soybean sprouts was rhamnose, fucose, xylose, arabinose, mannose, galactose and glucose. The galactose content of cell wall was higher than other non-cellulosic neutral sugars, and was remarkably decreased during growth. The major non-cellulosic sugars of pectic substances were rhamnose, arabinose, and galactose. The arabinose content of pectic substance was increased in cotyledon and hypocotyl during growth. The contents of non-cellulosic neutral sugars were decreased in hypocotyl during growth. The galactose content of pectic substance was higher in cotyledon than those in hypocotyl, and was increased in cotyledon. The content of rhamnose was higher in ionically associated pectic substance than that in covalently bounded pectic substance. The major non-cellulosic neutral sugars of hemicellulose were glucose, rhamnose, arabinose and galactose. The galactose of hemicellulose was decreased remarkably during growth.
Nucleate pool boiling experiments with constant wall temperature were performed using pure R1l3 for subcooled, saturated, and superheated pool conditions. A microscale heater array and Wheatstone bridge circuits were used to maintain the constant wall temperature and to measure the instantaneous heat flow rate accurately with high temporal and spatial resolutions. Images of bubble growth were taken at 5,000 frames per second using a high-speed CCD camera synchronized with the heat flow rate measurements. The bubble geometry was obtained from the captured bubble images. The effect of the pool conditions on the bubble growth behavior was analyzed using dimensionless parameters for the initial and thermal growth regions. The effect of the pool conditions on the heat flow rate behavior was also examined. This study will provide good experimental data with precise constant wall temperature boundary condition for such works.

MnSb layers were grown on GaAs(100), (111)A and (111)B substrates by hot wall epitaxy under various growth conditions. Growth condition dependence of structural properties of the layers was examined. The growth direction and structural properties of MnSb/GaAs(100) depend on Sb source and substrate temperatures. The smooth MnSb(10.1)/GaAs(100) interface was obtained under the appropriate growth condition. On the other hand, MnSb(00.1) layers were grown on GaAs(111) substrates. The quality of the layers on (111)B was superior to that on GaAs(111)A, but degraded as in increasing Sb source temperature during the growth. The $Mn_2Sb$ domain was generated in the layers grown under conditions of low Sb source temperature and high substrate temperature on GaAs(111) substrates.
