Analysis of cross-talk effects in volume holographic interconnections using perturbative integral expansion method

  • Cross-talk effects in high-density volume holographic interconnections are investigated using perturbative iteration method of the integral form of Maxwell's wave equation. In this method, the paraxial approximation and negligence of backward scattering introduced in conventional coupled mode theory is not assumed. Interaction geometries consisting of non-coplanar light waves and multiple index gratings are studied. Arbitrary light polarization is considered. Systematic analysis of cross-talk effects due to multiple index gratings is performed in increasing level of diffraction orders corresponding to successive iterations. Some numerical examples are given for first and third order diffraction.

  • In this paper, we evaluated the suitability of converter slag as concrete aggregate by measuring physical and chemical characteristics of converter slag. The converter slag mainly contains SiO₂and CaO as the chemical composition. The reaction with water and a little of free CaO in the slag causes slag's volume to expanse. Therefore, we used several aging method in order to decrease the characteristics of slag volume expansion. Then the compressive strength of concrete with the converter slag aggregate is measured.

A Simple, Reliable, and Inexpensive Intraoperative External Expansion System for Enhanced Autologous Structural Fat Grafting

  • External volume expansion of the recipient site by suction has been proposed as a way of improving fat graft survival. The objective of this study was to present an innovative and simple intraoperative external expansion system to enhance small-volume autologous fat grafting (40-80 mL) and to discuss its background and its mechanism of action. In this system, expansion is performed using a complete vacuum delivery system known as the Kiwi VAC-6000M with a PalmPump (Clinical Innovations). The recipient site is rapidly expanded intraoperatively 10 times for 30 seconds each with a negative pressure of up to 550 mm Hg before autologous fat injection. During this repetitive stimulation, the tissues become grossly expanded, developing macroscopic swelling that regresses slowly over the course of hours following the cessation of the stimulus. The system sets various mechanisms in motion, including scar release, mechanical stimulation, edema, ischemia, and inflammation, which provide an environment conducive for cell proliferation and angiogenesis. In order to maintain the graft construct in its expansive state, all patients are encouraged postoperatively to use the Kiwi three times daily for one minute per session over the course of three days. The handling of this system is simple for both the patients and the surgeon. Satisfactory clinical outcomes have been achieved without significant complications.

전기로슬래그 골재의 잔류팽창성에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Residual Expansibility of Electric Arc Furnace Slag Aggregate)

  • 제강슬래그 중 콘크리트용 골재로 활용 가능성이 있는 전기로슬래그 골재에 대하여 촉진에이징 종류별 전기로슬래그 골재의 팽창성 감소 정도를 파악하고, 콘크리트용 최적 에이징 처리 방법 및 처리 기간을 제시하고자 하였다. 또한, 에이징 처리 후에도 전기로슬래그 골재 내부에 잔류되어 있는 팽창성이 콘크리트에 미치는 영향 및 콘크리트의 품질을 비교, 고찰하였다. 전기로슬래그 골재의 수침팽창 측면에서 온수중 에이징 방법이 증기중 에이징 방법보다 다소 우수한 결과를 나타내었다. 전기로슬래그 골재의 잔류팽창과 콘크리트의 압축강도를 비교한 결과 콘크리트용으로 전기로슬래그 골재를 사용하기 위해서는 에이징 처리에 의해 잔류팽창을 0.06% 이하로 충분히 낮춘 후 사용해야 한다. 또한 현재 도로용으로 한정되어 사용되고 있는 전기로슬래그를 콘크리트용 골재로 사용하기 위해서는 골재의 품질개선 뿐만 아니라 감수제 및 AE제 등 적절한 혼화재료의 사용이 필요하겠다.

Blossom smart expander technology for tissue expander-based breast reconstruction facilitates shorter duration to full expansion: A pilot study

  • Background This study evaluated the Blossom system, an innovative self-filling, rate-controlled, pressure-responsive saline tissue expander (TE) system. We investigated the feasibility of utilizing this technology to facilitate implant-based and combined flap with implant-based breast reconstruction in comparison to conventional tissue expansion. Methods In this prospective, single-center, single-surgeon pilot study, participants underwent either implant-based breast reconstruction or a combination of autologous flap and implantbased breast reconstruction. Outcome measures included time to full expansion, complications, total expansion volume, and pain scores. Results Fourteen patients (TEs; n=22), were included in this study. The mean time to full expansion was 13.4 days (standard error of the mean [SEM], 1.3 days) in the combination group and 11.7 days (SEM, 1.4 days) in the implant group (P=0.78). The overall major complication rate was 4.5% (n=1). No statistically significant differences were found in the complication rate between the combination group and the implant group. The maximum patient-reported pain scores during the expansion process were low, but were significantly higher in the combination group (mean, 2.00±0.09) than in the implant group (mean, 0.29±0.25; P=0.005). Conclusions The reported average duration for conventional subcutaneous TE expansion is 79.4 days, but this pilot study using the Blossom system achieved an average expansion duration of less than 14 days in both groups. The Blossom system may accommodate single-stage breast reconstruction. The overall complication rate of this study was 4.5%, which is promising compared to the reported complication rates of two-stage breast reconstruction with TEs (20%-45%).

잔류응력 완화에 미치는 상변태의 수치적 모델링 (N.M.for the Effect of P.T. on Resicual Stress Relaxation)

  • Most of ferrous b.c.c weld materials may experience martensitic transformation during rapid cooling after welding. It is well known that volume expansion due to the phase transformation could influence on the relaxation of welding residual stress. To apply this effect practically, it is a prerequisite to establish a numerical model which is able to estimate the effect of phase transformation on residual stress relaxation quantitatively. For this purpose, the analysis is carried out in two regions. i.e., heating and cooling, because the variation of material properties following a phase transformation in cooling is different in comparison with the case in heating, even at the same temperature. The variation of material properties following phase transformation is considered by the adjustment of specific heat and thermal expansion coefficient, and the distribution of residual stress in analysis is compared with that of experiment by previous study. consequently, in this study, simplified numerical procedures considering phase transformation, which based on a commercial finite element package was established through comparing with the experimental data of residual stress distribution by other researcher. To consider the phase transformation effect on residual stress relaxation, the transition of mechanical and thermal property such as thermal expansion coefficient and specific heat capacity was found by try and error method in this analysis.

Expansion behavior of low-strength steel slag mortar during high-temperature catalysis

  • This study established the standard recommended values and expansion fracture threshold values for the content of steel slag in controlled low-strength materials (CLSM) to ensure the appropriate use of steel slag aggregates and the prevention of abnormal expansion. The steel slags used in this study included basic oxygen furnace (BOF) slag and desulfurization slag (DS), which replaced 5-50% of natural river sand by weight in cement mixtures. The steel slag mortars were tested by high-temperature ($100^{\circ}C$) curing for 96 h and autoclave expansion. The results showed that the effects of the steel slag content varied based on the free lime (f-CaO) content. No more than 30% of the natural river sand should be replaced with steel slag to avoid fracture failure. The expansion fracture threshold value was 0.10%, above which there was a risk of potential failure. Based on the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis, the high-temperature catalysis resulted in the immediate extrusion of peripheral hydration products from the calcium hydroxide crystals, leading to a local stress concentration and, eventually, deformation and cracking.

도로하부 공동 내의 지하수 주입 실험을 통한 공동 영역 변화 연구 (A Study on the Change of Cavity Area through Groundwater Injection Test under Pavement Cavity)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구에서는 공동 영역의 변화를 규명하기 위해 GPR 탐사장비, 유량계, 천공기, 공내 촬영장비, 공동 형상화 장비 등을 사용하여 공동 체적에 비례한 일정량의 물을 주입하고, 주입한 물이 빠짐에 따라 확대되는 공동 영역 변화를 정량적으로 평가하였다. 연구방법: 지하수 주입에 의한 공동 체적변화를 살펴보기 위해 실험공 2개소에 대한 주입시간-주입유량-체적증가량을 측정하였다. 연구결과: 주입시간이 증가할수록 체적증가량은 감소하고 있으며 1시간 정도 주입하면 더 이상의 체적증가가 없음을 알 수 있었다. 결론: 주입실험을 통해 체적변화 양상을 분석하여 공동생성의 원인이 주변 지중 매설물에 대한 영향 유무를 판단할 수 있었다. 그리고 지하수 주입 시, 공동이 확장되는 과정에서 주변의 이완된 지반이 일부 붕괴되거나 세립토가 주변 지반의 간극을 채우기 때문이며, 지하수 주입 유량이 증가할수록 체적변화가 증가하는 것으로 미루어, 공동의 확장은 지하수 유동에 큰 영향이 있음을 알 수 있었다.

회전킬른반응기를 이용한 리튬이온전지용 Si/C/CNF 음극활물질의 제조 및 전기화학적 특성 조사 (Preparation and Electrochemical Characterization of Si/C/CNF Anode Material for Lithium ion Battery Using Rotary Kiln Reactor)

  • 흑연은 리튬이온전지에 사용 되는 대표적인 음극활물질이다. 그러나 최대 이론 용량이 $372mA\;h\;g^{-1}$으로 제한되기 때문에 고용량의 리튬이온전지 개발을 위해서는 새로운 음극 소재 활물질이 필요하다. 실리콘의 최대 이론 용량은 $4200mA\;h\;g^{-1}$으로 흑연보다 높은 값을 나타내지만 부피 팽창이 400%로 크기 때문에 음극 소재 활물질로 바로 적용하기에는 적합하지 않다. 따라서 부피 팽창으로 인한 방전 용량의 감소를 최소화하기 위해 건식 방법으로 실리콘을 분쇄 하여 기계적 응력 및 반응상의 체적 변화를 감소시키고 입도 제어 된 실리콘 입자에 탄소를 코팅하여 체적의 변화를 억제하였다. 그리고 탄소 섬유를 입자 표면에 실타래처럼 성장시켜 2차적으로 부피 팽창을 제어하고 전기전도성을 개선하였다. 실험 변수에 따른 재료들의 물리화학적 특성을 XRD, SEM 및 TEM을 사용하여 측정하였고 전기화학적 특성을 평가 하였다. 본 연구에서는 실리콘의 수명 특성을 향상시켜 음극 소재 활물질로 사용 할 수 있는 합성 방법에 대하여 알아보았다.

자동차용 에어컨의 단품 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Component Performance for Automotive Air Conditioner)

  • For successful design of component, performances of one-tank plate type evaporator, gas-liquid separation type condenser, swash plate type compressor and thermostatic expansion valve for automotive air conditioner are investigated experimentally. Heat transfer characteristics in the evaporator are examined by means of air temperature, relative humidity, air volume flow, outlet refrigerant pressure and superheat, and heat transfer characteristics in the condenser are examined by means of air temperature, air velocity and inlet refrigerant pressure. Pressure drops for both evaporator and condenser are measured arid empirical correlations are derived. Volumetric efficiencies and isentropic efficiencies for trio types of compressors with different capacity are measured and compared. Thermostatic expansion valve is tested to investigate the pressure variation according to temperature changes.
