We designed a model composed of a ring type magnet, a yoke, and a sensing coil embedded in a projectile for simulating the muzzle velocity. The muzzle velocity was obtained from the master curve for the induced voltage at sensing coil and the velocity as the projectile pass through the magnetic field. The induced voltage and the projectile's velocity are fitted by the $2^{nd}$ order polynomial. The skin effect difference between projectiles which consist of aluminum-aluminum and aluminum-steel was small. The projectile will surely be burst at the pre-determined target area using the flight time and the projectile muzzle velocity calculated from the voltage induced at the sensing coil on the projectile.
We propose a novel approach to measure the residual phase noise (RPN) of a photodiode (PD) based on a two-tone correlation method. Compared with the previous measurements of the RPNs of PDs, this method is more convenient in practical application. In this method, two microwave sources and other components were placed in two isolated links sharing the same PD, so the noises of them were uncorrelated. With an FFT analyzer, the uncorrelated noises could be mostly suppressed while only the RPN of the PD was preserved. Voltage-dependent nonlinearities of PDs were studied previously. In this letter, we investigate the relationship between the RPN of the PD and the bias voltage on the PD. By changing the bias voltage, the difference of the RPN can be up to 10 dB.
Current research about voltage leakage involves investigation of the effects of leaked voltage and current on humans through simulated environments and dummies. Electrocution results from leaked current when electricity flows through the body as a result of potential difference. Research that analyzes actual electrocution is insufficient because of the danger from leaked voltage present in the leakage area. This thesis analyzes magnetic flux density from current around a leak to investigate the distribution of current. The authors used a simulated environment to investigate electrocution accidents that frequently occur during floods through leakage along metal surfaces, and evaluated the distribution of leaked magnetic flux.
This paper analyzes the switching overvoltage occurred on 345kV underground power cable system as well as combined transmission system using EMTP. Cable length and closing time, preinsertion resistance have effect on switching overvoltage. Therefore, this paper analyzes the switching overvoltage occurred on conductor and sheath with change of those parameters. Specially, the cross bonding position becomes discontinuity point because of the difference between surge impedance of metal sheath and that of lead cable. Thus, the transmission and the reflection of traveling wave complexly occur at this connection point. According to these influences, voltage between sheath and earth as well as voltage between joint boxes rise. Time to crest point of switching overvoltage is longer than lightning overvoltage. Even though the voltage induced by switching surge is smaller than lightning surge, that voltage may have serious effect on the metal sheath. Therefore, this paper also analyses the reduction effect of switching overvoltage when the preinsertion resistance of circuit breaker is considered.
The target of the ULTC(Under Load Tap Changer) control purpose is to minimize the operation number of the tap of the ULTC doing the error voltage which is the difference between the measured bus voltage End the reference bus voltage of the receiving end becomes less than the tolerance limits. The existing ULTC control method controls each ULTC considering only its bus voltage of the receiving end. However, this method did not cons der the coordinated control of the ULTCs of the system. In this paper, I proposed a coordinated control of the ULTC in :he loop power system using the Jacobian matrix. To show the validity of the proposed method, I made simulations for three cases: no action of the ULTC, the control of the ULTC by the existing control method, and the control of the ULTC by the coordinated control among the ULTCs of the system. The simulation result shows that the proposed method has more improvement of the operation of the ULTC than other methods.
An error-compensated pulse width modulator (ECPWM) is proposed to improve the baseband harmonic performance and the switching loss of voltage source inverters (VSIs). Selecting between harmonic distortion and switching loss is a design tradeoff in the conventional space vector pulse width modulation. In this work, an accumulated difference in produced and desired phase voltages is considered to adjust the reference signal. This mechanism can compensate for the voltage error in the previous carrier period. With error compensation every half-carrier period, the proposed ECPWM allows one-half reduction in carrier frequency without scarifying baseband harmonic distortion. The proposed modulator is applied to a three-phase VSI with R-L load and a motor-speed-control system for experiments. The measured efficiency and operating temperature of switches confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
In this paper, a current stimulator circuit with adaptive supply regulator for retinal prosthesis is proposed. In current stimulation systems, the stimulating circuits with wide voltage swing range are needed due to the high impedance of the retina cell and microelectrodes. Thus, previous researches adopt the high voltage architecture to obtain the enough operating range. The high voltage architecture, however, could increase the power consumption and can damage the retina cells. The proposed circuit provides the adaptively regulated supply voltage by measuring the difference between desired stimulation current and the actual stimulation current. The proposed circuit can achieve the extended range of the allowable cell impedance, improved accuracy of the stimulation current, and higher biosafety.
We optimized the structure of a fully depleted optical thyristor (DOT) to achieve the faster switching speed and the lower power consumption by the depletion of charge at the lower negative voltage. The fabricated optical thyristor shows sufficient nonlinear s-shape I-V characteristics with the switching voltage of 2.85 V and the complete depletion voltage of -8.73 V. In this paper, using a finite difference method (FDM), we calculate the effects of parameters such as doping concentration and thickness of each layer to determine the optimized structure in the view of the fast and low-power-consuming operation.
Finding renewable and clean energy resources is essential research to solve global warming and depletion of fossil fuels in modern society. Recently, complex harvesting of energy from multiple sources is available in our living environments using a single device has become highly desirable, representing a new trend in energy technologies. We report that when simultaneously driving the fusion and composite cells of two or more types, it is possible to make an affect the other cells to obtain a greater synergistic effect. To understand the coupling effect of photovoltaic and piezoelectric device, we fabricate the serially integrated hybrid cell (s-HC) based on organic solar cell (OSC) and piezoelectric nanogenerator (PNG). The size of increased voltage peaks when OSC and PNG are working on is larger than the case when only PNG is working. This voltage difference is the Voc change of OSC, not the voltage change of PNG and current density difference between these two cases is manifested more clearly. When the OSC and PNG are working in s-HC at the same time, piezoelectric potential (VPNG) is generated in ZnO and theoretical total voltage is sum of voltage of an OSC (VOSC) and VPNG. However, electrons from OSC are influenced by piezoelectric potential in ZnO and current loss of OSC in whole circuit decreases. As a result, VOSC increases temporarily. Current shows the similar behavior. PNG acts a resistance in the whole circuit and current loss occurs when the electrons from OSC pass through the PNG. But piezoelectric potential recover current loss and decrease the resistance of PNG. Our PNG can maintain piezoelectric potential when the strain is held owing to the LDH layer while general PNG cannot maintain piezoelectric potential. During the section that strain is held, voltage enhancement effect is maintained and same effect appeared even turn off the light. Actually at this time, electrons in ZnO nanosheets move to LDH and trapped by the positive charges in this layer. After this strain is held, piezoelectric potential of ZnO nanosheets is disappeared but potential difference which is developed by negative charge dominant LDH layer is remained. This potential acts similar role like piezoelectric potential in ZnO. Electrons from the OSC also are influenced by this potential and the more current flows.

This paper proposes an analytic model for four-switch inverter (FSI)-driven wye (Y) or delta (Δ)-connected motors with a current ripple reduction algorithm. FSIs employ four switches in controlling three-phase load instead of using six switches. They have split dc-link stage, and due to this inherent structure there exists the voltage difference between upper and lower capacitors, which results in distortion of the inverter output voltage. To study characteristics of FSIs, this paper presents an advanced simulation models of FSI-driven control system for 3-phase motor that can has a wire connection either Y or Δ. In addition, this paper introduces a current ripple reduction scheme that mitigates degradation of control performance due to the voltage difference between the dc-link capacitors. The validity of the proposed method and the analytic model is verified by simulations and experiments carried out with 1-HP induction machine with Y or Δ-connection
