  • In this paper, an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit is designed for use as a 12 V power clamp by using a parasitic-diode-triggered silicon controlled rectifier. The breakdown voltage and trigger voltage ($V_t$) of the proposed ESD protection circuit are improved by varying the length between the n-well and the p-well, and by adding $n^+/p^+$ floating regions. Moreover, the holding voltage ($V_h$) is improved by using segmented technology. The proposed circuit was fabricated using a $0.18-{\mu}m$ bipolar-CMOS-DMOS process with a width of $100{\mu}m$. The electrical characteristics and robustness of the proposed ESD circuit were analyzed using transmission line pulse measurements and an ESD pulse generator. The electrical characteristics of the proposed circuit were also analyzed at high temperature (300 K to 500 K) to verify thermal performance. After optimization, the $V_t$ of the proposed circuit increased from 14 V to 27.8 V, and $V_h$ increased from 5.3 V to 13.6 V. The proposed circuit exhibited good robustness characteristics, enduring human-body-model surges at 7.4 kV and machine-model surges at 450 V.

  • For the purpose of designing and applying the optimum surge protection scheme, multi-stage coordinated surge protective device(SPD) system is suitable to successfully fulfill its tasks; first, to divert a large amount of the transient energy, second, to clamp the overvoltage to the level below the withstand impulse voltage of the equipment to be protected. The length of SPD connecting leads shall be as short as possible. Long connecting leads will degrade the protection effect of SPDs. In this paper, the influences of the length of connecting leads on the energy sharing in a coordinated SPD system were investigated experimentally, and the simulation of determining the energy sharing and protection voltage level of each SPD depending on the length of connecting leads was carried out by using P-spice program. It was confirmed that the protection voltage level and energy sharing in coordinated SPD systems are strongly influenced by the length of connecting leads.

  • Resting membrane potential of atrial myocytes is less negative than K+ equilibrium potential, suggesting the presence of ion channels carrying inward currents. We investigated the background Na$\^$+/ current in rat atrial myocytes using both conventional whole cell voltage clamp technique and single channel recording.(omitted)

  • Inactivation of N-type calcium current has been reported to be both voltage dependent and Ca$\^$2+/ dependent. We have investigated the effects of Ba$\^$2+/ and Ca$\^$2+/ on N-channel inactivation in rat superior cervical ganglion neurons using the whole cell configuration of patch clamp technique. Inactivation was larger in Ca$\^$2+/ than in Ba$\^$2+/ even with 20 mM BAPTA.(omitted)

  • We investigated the relationship between the voltage-operated calcium channel current and the corresponding [Ca$^{2+}$]i change (Ca$^{2+}$-transient) in guinea-pig gastric myocyte. Fluorescence microspectroscopy was combined with conventional whole-cell patch clamp technique and fura-2 (80 $\mu$M) was added into the CsCl-rich pipette solution.(omitted)

  • This paper presents a new resonant converter to achieve the soft switching of power devices. Two full-bridge converters are connected in series to clamp the voltage stress of power switches at Vin/2. Thus, power MOSFETs with a 500V voltage rating can be used for 800V input voltage applications. Two flying capacitors are connected on the AC side of the two full-bridge converters to automatically balance the two split input capacitor voltages in every switching cycle. Two resonant tanks are used in the proposed converter to share the load current and to reduce the current stress of the passive and active components. If the switching frequency is less than the series resonant frequency of the resonant tanks, the power MOSFETs can be turned on under zero voltage switching, and the rectifier diodes can be turned off under zero current switching. The switching losses on the power MOSFETs are reduced and the reverse recovery loss is improved. Experiments with a 1.5kW prototype are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed converter.

  • Buck converter is considered to be one of the most widely used DC-DC converters due to its simple structure and high reliable performance. However, when it be combined with thin-film inductor, its own low inductance requires higher switching frequency in order to maintain optimum output ripple voltage and thus gives rise to extra switching losses. In view to overcoming such a technical in-convenience, soft switching fashion is suggested such as zero-voltage-switching of which an well known example is a Zero-Voltage-Switching clamp voltage(ZVS-CV) converter for which low inductance is imperatively required for ZVS operation. In order to support our suggestion, a 1W of ZVS-CV buck converter( Vo=3.3V, Iomax=0.3A, fs= 1.2MHz) is built by use of thin-film inductor, and then tested for comparing the measured efficiency between ours and conventional one. As the our results. the efficiency is improved about 2% at full load by the application of our concept.

  • The battery capacity of electric/hybrid vehicle is much larger than present automobile. For that reason, the connector of Green Car should be designed to transmit the high-electric voltage. In addition, the electromagnetic wave should be shielded to protect communication and signal circuits. In this study, shielding performance of the connector was analyzed through electromagnetic shield analysis, and a connector of Green Car was designed using thermoelectrical analysis, which is capable of transmitting the high-electric power. In the design of connector structure, the improved stability and workability was considered.

  • This paper is Instant space vector PWM(Pulse Width Modulation)power conversion devices in switching power semiconductors from my generation to losses and switching when the voltage surge and current surge of electronic noise(EMI: Electro Magnetic Interference / RFI: Radio Frequency Interference)to effectively minimize the power soft-switching power conversion circuit topologies of auxiliary resonant DC tank for the purpose of high performance realization of the electric power conversion system by the high-speed switching of a semiconductor device(AQRDCT simultaneously : an active auxiliary resonance using auxiliary Quasi-resonant DC tank)DC link snubber switch has adopted a three-phase voltage inverter. AQRDCL proposed in this paper can reduce the effective and current peak stress of the power semiconductors of the auxiliary resonant snubber circuit compared to the conventional active-resonant DC link snubber, it is not necessary to install the clamp switch of the auxiliary resonant DC link, DC the peak current and power loss of the bus line can be reduced.
