One Proposal of Vector Control Method of Wound-Rotor Induction Motor

  • This paper is concerning a vector control of wound-rotor induction motor from the secondary side. When the wound-rotor induction motor is vector controlled from the secondary side, it has the possibility that the vector control can be accurately done because the disturbance input, that is, primary voltage and all state variables, that is, primary currents and secondary currents can be detected. We consider it is deserve research that the vector control of wound-rotor induction motor from the secondary side, because there is the merit that we can reduce the inverter capacity to on the order of half of the motor capacity when we choose twice of the synchronous speed to the rated speed, though there is the problem of the brush maintenance.   • In this paper the multiple three rectifiers for the power factor correction are proposed, analyzed and designed. The multiple three phase rectifiers draw sinusoidal ac currents from the ac voltage sources with nearly unity input power factor and operate with PWM making the control circuit simple and system cost low. Outstandingly it reduces the rated power capacity of devices and the input filter size by reducing input current ripples. Moreover design rules can be obtained from input and output current equations. With the proposed rules, input power factor and output power capacity are determined approximately. Finally these design rules are verified with computer simulations.

  • At the coupling area linking high speed line and conventional line, according to distance between trains due to speed limit of conventional line, the power load of substation supplying to this conventional line increase. At the coupling area between Kimcheon SS and Kyoungsan SS, train operation have problems caused by instantaneous voltage drop. So, this paper propose evaluation method of maximum load capacity at current normal feeding condition.

  • This paper describes a Battery Checking & Monitoring System for monitoring battery cell and power system in Uninterruptible Power Supplies(UPS). The system is capable of measuring, in a matter of setting time, float and discharge voltage of up to 240 cells in a single installation, and has the memory capacity to store battery's alarm data information on up to 200 separate sites. This system are easy to maintain and attain cost effectively, so that prepared for meeting the customer's service needs immediately. The system is additionally programmed with a each model, that will enable to accurately determine the remain battery capacity in a UPS system following a short discharge test. It is also equipped with remote interrogation and control facilities.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance of supplemental cooling and heating system equipped with the 1 kW thermoelectric module. The system consist of 96 thermoelectric modules, heat sink with louver fin and water cooling jacket which is attached on the hot side of the thermoelectric module. The cooling and heating performance test of the thermoelectric system is conducted with various conditions, such as intake voltage, air inlet temperature, air flow volume, water inlet temperature and water flow rate at calorimeter chamber in consideration of environmental conditions in realistic vehicle drive. The experimental results of a thermoelectric system shows that the cooling capacity and COP is 1.03 kW, and 1.0, and heating capacity and COP is 1.53 kW, and 1.5 respectively.

  • Ground anchor should not be used in soft clay, because anchor resistance can not be guaranteed. However, there is a way to increase the capacity of anchors. The anchor is an underreamed anchor by using high voltage electric discharge energy. In this study, a series of field test were carried out in order to find ultimate load of underreamed anchors in weathered soil at the new apartment construction site located in Inchon, Korea. Data were analyzed in order to define a relation between ultimate load and the number of electric discharge.

  • Power transformers have a tendency of ultra-high voltage capacity as power demand increases day after day KEPCO also will have plan to supply transmission power from 345KV to 765KV in the early of 2000. Therefore, the fault by insulation destruction gives rise to large area of power failure in huge capacity transformers. On-line predictive diagnostics is very important in power transformers because of economic loss and its spreading effect. This study presents the algorithm for transformer oil analysis used KEPCO code, IEC code, gas pattern method and Dornenburg & Roger Ratio method. We also describe the MMI display of expert system programmed by Element Expert Tool(Neuron Data Inc.).

  • From the cost-effective point of view, it is very important to design a current with the highest utilization factor of current capacity of power devices. This can be accomplished by a current controller without overshoot irrespective of the varying bounds of control voltage in PWM converters and the dead time due to the time delay. This paper suggests a novel decoupled controller with Smith-Predictor which has the fast control response without overshoot and steady stats error and also deal with the design method of the controller for PWM converters. The extensive digital simulations done by SIMULINK/MATLAB show that the suggested controller guarantees the full utilization of current capacity of power devices and the decoupled current control behavior.

  • From the cost-effective product point of view, it is very important to design a new current controller with the highest utilization factor of current capacity of power devices. This paper deals with a state-deadbeat current controller for PWM converters, which shows the fastest current control response without overshoot irrespective of the saturation of control voltage. No-overshoot control response means that the current capacity could be fully utilized in the control sense. Simulational results done by Matlab's Simulink show good current control characteristics.

  • Fuel cell generators as the distributed generation system with a few hundred watt$\sim$a few hundred kilowatt capacity, can supply the high quality electric power to user as compared with conventional large scale power plants. In this paper, PEMFC(polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell) generator as micro-source is modelled by using PSIM simulation software and DSP based fuel cell hardware simulator based on the PSIM simulation model is implemented. The relation of fuel cell voltage and current(V-I curve) is linearized by first order function on the ohmic area in voltage-current curve of fuel cell. The implemented system is composed of a PEMFC hardware simulator, an isolated full bridge dc boost converter, and a 60[Hz] voltage source PWM inverter. The voltage-current-power(V-I-P) characteristics of the implemented fuel cell hardware simulator are verified in load variation and transient state and the 60[Hz] output voltage sinusoidal waveform of the PWM inverter is investigated under the resistance load and nonlinear diode load.
