  • In this paper, a new watermarking method for a copy protectionof images is proposed. The proposed method adaptively embeds a watermark in the frequency domain of images using human visual system model. For this purpose, the Just Noticeable Differences(JNDs) of each frequency coeffeicient value of a luminance plane is first found using Watson and Solomon's visual system model. An invisible maximum watermark value with is different in every position according to the characteristics of images is determined usig JND and Minkowski metric. A low frequency domain is divided into two sets based on a PN-sequence to protect thewatermark from the attack. The watermarks are added to one set of coefficients and detecting a watermark, the difference between the mean values of absolute coefficient values of both sets is calculated. The embedded watermark is tested using statistical hypothesis based on test static dertermined by the ean difference. To demonstrate the perfromance of the proposed method, the new watermarking method is applied to a high frequency image and low frequency images. Experimenatal results show the watermark is invisible and robust to JPEGlossy compression and noise.

  • In this paper, we propose a super-resolution method that reconstructs compressed low-resolution images into high-resolution images. We propose a CNN model with a small number of parameters, and even if quantization is applied to the proposed model, super-resolution can be implemented without deteriorating the image quality. To further improve the quality of the compressed low-resolution image, a new degradation model was proposed instead of the existing bicubic degradation model. The proposed degradation model is used only in the training process and can be applied by changing only the parameter values to the original CNN model. In the super-resolution image applying the proposed degradation model, visual artifacts caused by image compression were effectively removed. As a result, our proposed method generates higher PSNR values at compressed images and shows better visual quality, compared to conventional CNN-based SR methods.

  • The purpose of this study was to classify the body shapes. exclusive of size and corpulence factors of more than 60-year old elderly women by distinctions, and to investigate the visual effects of combination of ensemble suit details. For the body shape classification, the factor analysis and cluster analysis were performed : the mean value difference of numeral values for classified types were tested by ANOVA : and the follow-up test was conducted by the Duncan's multiple ranged test. The data analysis for visual effects evaluated by a multiple ranking test was analysed by mean. paired t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple ranged test. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The followings are the types of body shape according to the shape factors of the front line of body for elderly women. The distinctions of the front li e of elderly women's body could be presumed; that was, Body typeⅠ was a comparatively well-balanced body type, Body type Ⅱ was close to an average body type. and Body type In was a severely corpulent body type. 2. The followings are the results on the physical visual effects inducing the constituents of clothing type. 1) The neckline·collar types of a jacket have a great influence on the visual effects of the upper body, and orderly. the tailored collar. soutien collar, and round neckline had positive influence on the visual effects in the upper body. 2) The pleat types of one-piece dress had positive influence on the visual effects in the lower body in the order of gored type, pleats type, and gathered type. Also. the balance in the lower body had more influence on the overall balance of the clothing compared to the constituents of clothing type such as neckline collar type or opening line. 3) It showed that whether there is the front opening line of a jacket influenced on the visual effects of all categories.

  • In order to design the aspherical lens, the revisions and the steps of the mathematical method are influenced with a lot of variables. The accuracy of the aspherical lens can be changed by these variables. Besides, to design the aspherical lens, many mathematical functions should be used. To use these mathematical functions is protected by patent administration. Therefore it is very difficult for most of developed countries to use them. This fact has been interrupting not only the development of the technique of a design of the aspherical lens but also the development of the equipments of optics. Because approximate values are used in most of common programs which create the aspherical lens : basically these common programs have variations. Therefore these aspherical lens are not accurate. In the paper, we calculated accurate values by using the refractive index of lens. Based on these data, wee created self-operating design programs. Consequently, our lens is more accurate than the aspherical lens which is created by the common programs influenced with approximate values. The used programs belonging to AutoCAD is Visual LISP.

  • In this paper, a new adaptive image processing method based on human visual system has been presented. The basic idea behind the proposed method is to improve the efficiency of the information transfer channel regionally by manipulating the displayed image in order to compensate the regional inefficiency of the information transfer channel. The proposed method consists of two parts; the first part reallocates pixel values corresponding to high X-ray attenuation to that of more intense X-ray exposure by multiplying the pixel values with the local adaptive multiplcation factor, and the second part adjusts the pixel values of dark area of displayed image such as overexposed lung area to be more bright. The processed image with the proposed method shows significantly increased visibility of mediastinal and subdiaphramatic area, and also the lung area of over exposed case without any artifact.

  • To cope actively with the changes of external environments, it is necessary that a robot should have visual feedback control (VFC) using image informations. A VFC system consists of a manipulator and camera(s). For the fixed visual system, when feature value are located at the same line, we have a problem of singular value unable to be controlled by VFC. As a solution, we may define state values of the image Jacobians, then, by making comparisons and evaluations of feature values, select available ones. This method, however, has a demerit increasing numbers of feature values. To solve the problem, moving cameras of VFC system actively, we suggest an algorithm which dose not cause singular value, and prove its availability through simulations.

  • Post-tonsillectomy pain in children is a difficult problem to manage. We examined the effect of 10% aerosol lidocaine for the post-tonsillectomy analgesia. ASA physical status I or II, between five and thirteen years of age were assigned, in a randomized fashion, into two groups. The Group I, 30 patients, received a total dose of 4 mg/kg of ten percent aerosol lidocaine on the tonsillar beds. Lidocaine was administered at the end of the surgical procedure. The Group II, 30 patients, were not sprayed with lidocaine aerosol. The postoperative pain scores were assessed by a "red and white" visual analoge pain scales (VAPS). VAPS values were obtained at one and eight hours after the operation. Values of one hour after the operation in the group I and II were $20.83{\pm}10.01$ and $34.50{\pm}10.53$, values of eight hours after the operation were $17.33{\pm}9.07$ and $23.5{\pm}11.08$. The post-tonsilectomy pains were significantly lower in the group I compared with the group II at one and eight hours after the operation. In conclusion, 4 mg/kg of ten percent aerosol lidocaine applied directly on the tonsillar beds was showen a superior, immediate post-tonsillectomy analgesic technique.

  • A continuous solution of the Dirichlet boundary value problem for the heat equation $u_t$$a2u_{xx}$ using a fuzzy system is described. We first apply the Crank-Nicolson method to obtain a discrete solution at the grid points for the heat equation. Then we find a continuous function to represent approximately the discrete values at the grid points in the form of a bicubic spline function (equation omitted) that can in turn be represented exactly by a fuzzy system. We show that the computed values at non-grid points using the bicubic spline function is much smaller than the ones obtained by linear interpolations of the values at the grid points. We also show that the fuzzy rule table in the fuzzy system representation of the bicubic spline function can be viewed as a gray scale image. Hence, the fuzzy rules provide a visual representation of the functions of two variables where the contours of different levels for the function are shown in different gray scale levels

  • The coarse classifying procedure in credit scoring splits the values of a continuous characteristic into bands and the values of a discrete characteristic into groups of values. Also, the scorecard degrades over time and thus we should adjust the cut-off score being used. However, the coarse classifying and the adjustment of cut-off score in credit scoring are very complicate and troublesome procedure. Thus, in this paper, we develop a software for the coarse classifying and the model evaluation by using Visual Basic Language. By using the developed software, we can find the best split in the coarse classifying and the optimal cut-off score in the model evaluation.
