The Research of Visual and Aesthetic Values of an Asian Ethnic Look (아시안 에스닉 룩의 조형성과 미적가치에 판한 연구)

  • An Asian Ethnic Look is based on its own values of traditional costumes and the fashion accessories that are influenced by its own genre within their own culture. In this thesis, it contemplates the study of visual values and the traditional influences of the Modern Western Designers and Asian Designers' definitions and the considerations of an Ethnic look in the countries like Middle East, India, Korea, China and Japan. The standard procedure to understand their Visual and Aesthetic values is acknowledgement of body. From that foundation, an Asian Ethnic Look and its Visual and Aesthetic Values were researched through out the Middle East Asian Look, Indian Look, Korean Look, Chinese Look and Japanese Look which effective after 1990's. The studies are further researched to the comparisons and interpretations of the Western Designers and the Asian Designers, and the definitions of an Asian Ethnic Look and its Visual and Aesthetic Values in between those. According to each country's religious attitudes, a beauty of concealment and a beauty of negative space appeal which emphasize an ethics on humanity and non-materialistic attitudes. It takes meanings of a phenomenon of nature's worship, Yin-Yang five elements of principles, oneness of body-mind and oneness of universe-mankind. Following the studies of Visual and Aesthetic Values of an Asian Ethnic Look, in 1990's Western Designers' interpretations were prominent use of the Asian Traditional Motif3. However, the interpretations of the Asian Designers were based on their own traditional ethics and they minimized decorative elements but enhanced naturalism, feminism, calm and sober designs compare to the past. The Asian Designers' interpretations of their visual values were based on their Asian mentality, beauty and its straightforward genuine perspective and respects of their own culture.

Construction of the 2D General $\Delta-TABLE$ of the Numerical Series of Position for the Syntactical Semantics of Visual Space (시(視)공간의 통사의미론을 위한 위치수열 2차원 일반 $\Delta-TABLE$의 구성)

  • The paper aims to study how to describe the rigorous position on which semantic elements are laid, within the visual space. This purpose is, first of all, for the construction of visual syntactical semantics of the visual space. For this aim, the preliminary research begins with some definitions on : 1) visual space, visual design, visual syntactical semantic meaning, 2) position, sequence of position, 2-dim. sequence of position, and 3) 2-dim. numerical series of position, harmonious dynamic values. Here, The main issue is to define the position in general. To solve this problem, the researcher surveyed the positions on which the sets of pixemes are set up. The results are as follows ; 1. As far as the positions in visual space are concerned, they are the possible locations permitted in the visual patches. They are not the factual but the possible positions. 2.The position value that the sequential point has is not arithmetical but harmonious-dynamic, for it is not permitted for its own sake, but for the person, that is to say, for the viewer's visual perception. 3. The harmonious-dynamic value of positional sequence can be composed of the 2-dimensional successive numerical series which is, in turn, composed of the primordial 3 values x0, $\mu0$, y0. Here, the $\mu0$ is the harmonious mean value of x0 and y0. The x0 and y0 are, therefore, of the mutual dynamic relationship. 4. From this, the 2-dim general $\Delta-TABLE$ of the numerical series of position in visual design could be acquired through development of the primordial 3 values into the $X_i,\;Y_i$, orbit values.

The Study of Kinetic Visual Acuity in College Students (대학생의 동적시력에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: We were to obtain the basic data for studying kinetic visual acuity through the comparative analysis in kinetic visual acuity, visual acuity, refractive error, pupil size, and hand reaction time for college students. Methods: We had tested the kinetic visual acuity, visual acuity, refractive error and hand reaction time using the kinetic visual acuity tester (KOWA AS-4A), the hand reaction time program and auto-refractometer for thirty-nine male and same female optometry students with more than +0.1 LogMAR visual acuity in both eyes. And the results were examined gender differences of kinetic visual acuity and the factors correlation. Results: In the measured values of male, pupil size were 6.00 mm, hand reaction time 0.23 msec, refractive error -1.66 D, visual acuity -0.07, kinetic visual acuity 0.59 and pupil size 5.86 mm, hand reaction time 0.24 msec, refractive error -2.08 D, visual acuity -0.02, kinetic visual acuity 0.46 in female. It was significant difference for kinetic visual acuity values but other factors were not. The kinetic visual acuity and left visual acuity had the highest correlation, r=-0.406. The kinetic visual acuity indicated more excellent values in the case of increasing visual acuity and decreasing myopia amount. Conclusions: It was able to see that male college students were better than female for kinetic visual acuity and the visual acuity were related to kinetic visual acuity.

Performance Simulation of a Ramjet Using Visual C++ Program

  • This paper presents on research findings of how Visual C++ program can be used to generate codes capable of performing ramjet engine simulation To understand the diversity and applicability of this tool an arbitrary ramjet model will be considered for which generated output values will be compared with those from a commercial program GASTURB 9 iterated under the same input parameters. Several governing thermodynamic equations will first be discussed in order that we understand the fundamental idea behind values printed out on the GUI. C++ compiler was chosen as a tool of use due to its availability, ease of use, ability to compute functions faster and uniquely possible to make a stand alone GUI executable in DOS mode. The program is developed in such a way that given the ambient flight conditions, burner exit temperature and several geometry areas the program generates its own input values used in the succeeding stations. A close resemblance of output values that define performance and thermodynamic state of the engine was realized between GASTURB 9 and using this code made from C++ compiler.

Reliability of Q-Ray View for Assessing Retention Status of Pit and Fissure Sealant (Q-Ray View를 이용한 치면열구전색재의 유지상태 평가)

  • Purpose: To evaluate reliability of Q-ray view (Aiobio Inc,. Seoul, Korea) for assessing retention status of pit and fissure sealants. Methods: Pit and fissure sealants of 58 permanent molars from 15 third-grade students were examined. Posterior teeth with ≥1 pit and fissure sealants applied to the occlusal surface for >6 months were examined. The teeth were examined using traditional visual-tactile assessments and combined Q-ray view. Pit and fissure sealants were evaluated by assessing marginal plaque, marginal discoloration, marginal integrity, retention, and presence of caries. Fleiss kappa and Cohen's kappa values were calculated to compare inter- and intrarater agreements between visual-tactile and combined Q-ray view assessments. Results: Regarding interrater agreement in visual-tactile assessments, K values of Cohen's kappa for marginal plaque, marginal discoloration, and presence of caries were 0.22-0.57, 0.36-0.57, and 0.43-0.61, respectively, and agreements ranged from slight to moderate. When combined with Q-ray view, the values were 0.81-0.89, 0.69-0.88, and 0.80-0.90, respectively, and agreements ranged from substantial to nearly perfect level, indicating statistical significance. Marginal plaque (0.81-0.83), marginal discoloration (0.57-0.89), and presence of caries (0.69-0.91) showed higher agreements in combined Q-ray view than in visual-tactile assessments, and kappa values of marginal plaques were significantly higher in combined Q-ray view than in visual-tactile assessments. Conclusion: Evaluating retention status of pit and fissure sealants using Q-ray view showed higher reliability than using visual/tactile assessments for marginal plaque, marginal discoloration, and presence of caries. Therefore, Q-ray view may be used to assess the retention status of pit and fissure sealants.

Development of Software for Coarse Classifying

  • In general, the coarse classifying procedure splits the values of a continuous characteristic into bands and the values of a discrete characteristic into groups of values. Coarse classifying improves the robustness of the credit scoring system but it is complicate and troublesome procedure. Thus, in this paper, we develop a software for coarse classifying by using Visual Basic Language. By using the developed software, we can find the best split easily. Also, this software will help learners to study credit scoring.

  • The growth of digital image an video archives is increasing the need for tools that efficiently search through large amount of visual dta. Retrieval of visual data is important issue in multimedia database. We are using contented-based visual data retrieval method for efficient retrieval of visual data. In this paper, we introduced fundamental techniques using characteristic values of image data and indexing techniques required for content-based visual retrieval. In addition we introduced content-based visual retrieval system for use of digital library.

Comparison of Multifidus Muscle Activity and Pelvic Tilting Angle During Typing in Nonspecific Lower Back Pain Subjects with and without Visual Biofeedback

  • Purpose: Biofeedback using various ways has helped correct the sitting posture. This study compared the multifidus muscle activity, pelvic and 2nd sacrum tilting angle during typing in nonspecific lower back pain (NCLBP) subjects with and without visual biofeedback. Methods: Thirty subjects with NCLBP were enrolled in this study. An electromyography device was used to measure the multifidus muscle activity. An electromagnetic tracking motion device was used to measure the pelvic and 2nd sacrum tilting angle. The multifidus muscle activity, pelvic, and 2nd sacrum tilting angle were measured before and after typing for 30 minutes in the sitting position. An independent t-test was used to compare the changing values for 30 minutes between the group with and without visual biofeedback. Results: The changing values of the multifidus muscle activity, pelvic, and 2nd sacrum tilting angle were significantly smaller in the group with visual biofeedback than the group without visual biofeedback (p<0.05). Conclusions: In subjects with NCLBP, the visual biofeedback can be recommended to maintain the multifidus muscle activity, pelvic, and 2nd sacrum tilting angle during typing for 30 minutes.

The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of how visual design influences consumer-facing brand values and marketing messages. In order to be successful in marketing, one must promptly attract the attention of the clients one is attempting to sell to. Research design, data and methodology: In order for the research to provide useful information, it will be necessary to sort the findings in descending order of importance and construct an integrated whole out of the knowledge gleaned from various books, papers, and other sources. This method is essential for establishing the degree of objectivity present in each piece of research and combining the results of those studies. Results: Visual marketing promotes a product or service through moving or still images, illustrations, logos, and other forms of digital content. The audience may comprehend your message better if you include visuals. Even if people only scan your content, they may be more likely to notice it if it is presented appealingly. Conclusions: In conclusion, this study found that visual design substantially influences both the demand for products and the awareness of brand values within their target audiences
