A Machine Vision System for Inspecting Tape-Feeder Operation

  • A tape feeder of a SMD(Surface Mount Device) mounter is a device that sequentially feeds electronic components on a tape reel to the pick-up system of the mounter. As components are getting much smaller, feeding accuracy of a feeder becomes one of the most important factors for successful component pick-up. Therefore, it is critical to keep the feeding accuracy to a specified level in the assembly and production of tape feeders. This paper describes a tape feeder inspection system that was developed to automatically measure and to inspect feeding accuracy using machine vision. It consists of a feeder base, an image acquisition system, and a personal computer. The image acquisition system is composed of CCD cameras with lens, LED illumination systems, and a frame grabber inside the PC. This system loads up to six feeders at a time and inspects them automatically and sequentially. The inspection software was implemented using Visual C++ on Windows with easily usable GUI. Using this system, we can automatically measure and inspect the quality of ail feeders in production process by analyzing the measurement results statistically.

  • "Motion Stereo" is quite useful for visual guidance of the robot, but most range finding algorithms of motion stereo have suffered from poor accuracy due to the quantization noise and measurement error. In this paper, 3-D position estimation and refinement scheme is proposed, and its performance is discussed. The main concept of the approach is to consider the entire frame sequence at the same time rather than to consider the sequence as a pair of images. The experiments using real images have been performed under following conditions : hand-held camera, static object. The result demonstrate that the proposed nonlinear least-square estimation scheme provides reliable and fairly accurate 3-D position information for vision-based position control of robot. of robot.

  • There are technological changes to reduce the size and weight of electronic components and to accommodate multi-functions in them. To meet this trend, more complicated technological processes are required. To maintain the processes, more accurate inspection systems are also necessary. Therefore, new inspection methods are needed, which is differ from conventional inspection methods such as electrical test methods ICT(In-Circuit Test), FCT(Function Test) and visual test using optical equipments. One of the possible approaches is non-destructive test using X-ray. In this paper, an inspection method using X-ray is developed and applied to inspection of soldering state and internal defects of electronic components.

  • Video compression algorithms are based on removing spatial and/or temproal redundancy inherent in image sequences by predictive(DPCM) encoding, transform encoding, or a combination of predictive and transform encoding. In this paper, each 8$\times$8 DCT coefficient of DFD(displaced frame difference) is adaptively quantized by one of the four quantizers depending on total distortion level, which is determined by characteristics of HVS(human visual system) and buffer status. Therefore, the number of possible quantizer selection vectors(patterns) is 4$^{64}$. If this vectors are coded, toomany bits are required. Thus, the quantizer selection vectors are limited to 2048 for Y and 512 for each U, V by the proposed method using SWAD(sum of weighted absolute difference) for discriminating vectors. The computer simulation results, using the codebook vectors which are made by the proposed method, show that the subjective and objective image quality (PSNR) are goor with the limited bit allocation.   • Environmental design should be based on the positive theory, a researcher structured symbolic aesthetics on the basis of positive perception theory. Symbolic aesthetics by ecological theory of perception, human preference is related to existence and the formation of place-identity and cognitive map is dealt importantly in this study. 화상처리기법을 활용한 천의 드레이프성의 정량적 평가방법 (Quantitative Evaluation of Fabric Drape Using Image Analysis)

  • In this research, a new quantitative fabric drape evaluation system has been developed using image processing technology. The purpose of this research is to get the more detailed information of fabric drapability quantitatively from digital images captured with a digital camera generally commercialized. The shape parameters of a 3-dimensional geometric drape model were defined as the number of nodes, frequency and amplitude. Also, various statistical information of drape shapes can be obtained using image processing technology and frequency analysis as well as traditional drape coefficients. Hardware system to capture drape images is simply composed of three parts including a digital USB (Universal Serial Bus) camera, a frame cover and a stand for camera to attach to traditional drape tester. The evaluation software coded with the MS Visual C++ is operated under the MS windows 9x above.

  • The purpose of this study is the development of PBL(problem-based learning) system using visual C++5.0 as a window-based application program. A patient who complains of weight loss was used in PBL case. Initial frame is made by dialog-based in MFC(microsoft foundation class). Also, sample medical images are composed of ultra-sound, chest PA, Thyroid scan, otherwise. we will make this program as CD-ROM and the internet application or computer assisted learning and continuous medical education.

  • 본 논문은 H.264 동영상 표준 부호화 방식의 성능 향상을 위한 잔여 신호 전처리 필터에 대해 제안한다. 영상의 화질에 대한 최종적인 판단은 인간의 시각에 의하므로 HVS(Human Visual System)을 영상 압축에 적용한 수 있다(1,2,3). 잔여 신호 전처리 필터는 원 영상으로부터 중요하지 않은 부분을 제거하여 영상의 화질을 주어진 비트율로 최대화 시켜 부호화 율을 향상시키는데 목적을 둔다(4). 부호화 방식의 형태에 따라 잔여신호(DFD: Displaced Frame Difference)에 잔여 신호 전처리 필터 알고리즘을 적용하여 노이즈를 제거하고 전송 비트율을 감소시킬 수 있다 제안된 방식의 성능을 실험 결과로부터 확인할 수 있다

Light Source Target Detection Algorithm for Vision-based UAV Recovery

  • In the vision-based recovery phase, a terminal guidance for the blended-wing UAV requires visual information of high accuracy. This paper presents the light source target design and detection algorithm for vision-based UAV recovery. We propose a recovery target design with red and green LEDs. This frame provides the relative position between the target and the UAV. The target detection algorithm includes HSV-based segmentation, morphology, and blob processing. These techniques are employed to give efficient detection results in day and night net recovery operations. The performance of the proposed target design and detection algorithm are evaluated through ground-based experiments.

  • A study on image searching and management techniques is actively developed by user requirements for multimedia information that are existing as images, audios, texts data from various information processing devices. We had been studied an automatical shape region segmentation method using color. distribution and edge characteristics of moving images for. contents-base description. The Proposed method uses a color information quantized on human visual system and extracts overlapped regions to be matched by using edge characteristics of the image frame. The performance of the proposed method is represented by similarity for comparison to a segmented image and original image.
