Urinalysis is an important clinical test to diagnose urinary diseases, and dipstick method with visual inspection is widely applied in practice. Automated optical devices recently developed have disadvantages of long measurement time, big size and heavy weight, accuracy degradation with time, etc. The present study proposed a new computer scanning technique, in which the test strip and the standard chart were simultaneously scanned to remove any environmental artifacts, followed by automated differentiation with the minimum distance algorithm, leading to significant enhancement of accuracy. Experiments demonstrated an accuracy of 100 % in that all test results were identical with the human visual inspection. The present technique only uses a personal computer with scanner and shortens the test time to a great degree. The results are also stored and accumulated for later use which can be transmitted to remote locations through a network, thus could be easily integrated to any ubiquitous health care systems.

While driving a highway, A driver gets lots of information through geometrical structure, traffic situation, signs on the road. He gets most of the information by visual sense. Acceleration or deceleration and driving direction depend on sight distance. Therefore, it's essential to secure a driver's sight distance for a safe drive. However, design guides of geometrical structure and sight distance suggest respective standards of horizontal and vertical alignment. They do not indicate quantitative standard of combined alignment. Currently, element separated on a two-dimensional projected plane are available, but they do not guarantee safe and pleasant design. I will use the existent model analysing three-dimensional sight distance through mathematical calculation and sort a variety of geometrical structure element and type. In these researches, we will look at how much three-dimensional sight distance is overestimated or underestimated compared to two-dimensional. I will develop a program which predicts traffic velocity on the curvature of two-lane provincial road. stopped sight distance and three-dimensional sight distance will be compared at a predicted drive velocity. I will suggest the way to evaluate road consistency.
Purpose: To study the effect of an artificially induced dioptric blur on acuity and contrast sensitivity using the $Optec^{(R)}$ 6500. Methods: Healthy 31 subjects aged $22.90{\pm}1.92$ (male 16, female 15) who were recruited from university students with 6/6 (20/20) or better corrected visual acuity and normal binocularity. They were measured objective and subjective refraction for full correction and dioptric blur using 0.00 ~ +3.00 D (+0.50 D steps) trial lenses and trial frame. They were measured binocularly visual acuity and contrast sensitivity with the $Optec^{(R)}$ 6500 (Stereo Optical Co., Inc., Chicago, Illinois, USA) under day conditions (photopic condition, $85cd/m^2$). Results: The higher dioptric blur, the less distance visual acuity and decrease rate of visual acuity. The higher dioptric blur, the less contrast sensitivity at all frequencies, and the peak of contrast sensitivity was shifted from middle frequency (6 cpd) to low frequency (1.5 cpd). When the visual acuity was best visual acuity to 0.77, there was the peak point at 6 cpd which was normal contrast sensitivity peak point. Conclusions: If the low refractive error is uncorrected or the refractive error is inappropriate, the contrast sensitivity is decreased and the peak point of contrast sensitivity frequency is shifted abnormally though small uncorrected refractive error. So it will be considered that regular eye test and decision of refractive error correction is important.
Purpose: This study aimed to compare and assess changes of visual functions in viewing an anaglyph 3D image. Methods: Visual functions were examined before and after viewing a 2D image and an anaglyph 3D image with red-green glasses on seventy college students (mean age = 22.29${\pm}$2.19 years). Visual function tests were carried out for von Graefe phoria test, accommodative amplitude test by (-) lens addition, negative relative accommodation (NRA) and positive relative accommodation (PRA) test, negative relative convergence (NRC) and positive relative convergence (PRC) test, accommodative facility, and vergence facility test. Results: Assessment of the visual functions indicated that near exophoria and accommodative amplitude were reduced after viewing a 3D image, and although there were small changes in relation to these findings, NRC and PRC showed tendencies to increase and decrease at near, respectively. There were no significant changes with NRA and PRA, and accommodative and vergence facility were shown to have improved. Conclusions: Changes of visual functions were more in the 3D image than the 2D image, especially at near than distance. Particularly, the improvement of accommodative and vergence facility could be related to an effect of subsequent accommodation and vergence shift to have stereopsis in the 3D image. These results indicate that an anaglyph 3D image may, to some extent, be the effect of vision training such as anaglyphs.

In this paper, we propose a new visual odometry technique by combining a forward-looking stereo camera and a backward-looking monocular camera. The main goal of the proposed technique is to identify the location of a moving vehicle which travels long distance and comes back to the initial position in urban road environments. While the vehicle is moving to the destination, a global 3D map is updated continuously by a stereo visual odometry technique using a graph theorem. Once the vehicle reaches the destination and begins to come back to the initial position, a map-based monocular visual odometry technqieu is used. To estimate the position of the returning vehicle accurately, 2D features in the backward-looking camera image and the global map are matched. In addition, we utilize the previous matching nodes to limit the search ranges of the next vehicle position in the global map. Through two navigation paths, we analyze the accuracy of the proposed method.

IThe perception of sub-second duration through the visual sensory system is affected by non-temporal characteristics (factors other than the duration of the stimulus). However, studies have shown that if distance information is abundant and size constancy maintained, the duration of the target is constantly perceived. The current study examined the relationship between size and time perception constancy in a three-dimensional environment with limited distance information. A device was constructed to limit the participants' bilateral and monocular cues. This prevented participants from maintaining size constancy, resulting in size illusions that could not accurately perceive physical size. In Experiment 1, the size of the physical stimulus of reference and test stimuli were the same at all viewing distances. The results suggest that, despite the same physical size, stimuli with close observations were perceived to be greater and lasted longer. In Experiment 2, the retinal size of the reference stimuli and test stimuli was controlled equally at all viewing distances. As a result, although the physical size of the stimuli increased as the observation increased, the perceived size of all the stimuli was the same. Therefore, the duration of the target was constantly perceived at all viewing distances. The results of this study demonstrate that even when distance information is limited, time perception is affected by the perceived size of the object. It also suggests that when rich distance information exists, the duration of the object can be constantly perceived even if the observation distance varies.

Low-dose X-ray fluoroscopic image sequences to avoid radiation exposure risk are contaminated by quantum noise. To restore these noisy sequences, we propose a 3D nonlocal means (NLM) filter based on stochastic distancesed can be applied to the denoising of X-ray fluoroscopic image sequences. The stochastic distance is obtained within motion-compensated noise filtering support to remove the Poisson noise. In this paper, motion-adaptive weight which reflected the frame similarity is proposed to restore the noisy sequences without motion artifact. Experimental results including comparisons with conventional algorithms for real X-ray fluoroscopic image sequences show the proposed algorithm has a good performance in both visual and quantitative criteria.
This study was conducted by survey and inspection of stair passage leading lights in shopping buildings which are more than 5 stories and have an underground parking lot located at Pyeongtaek-si and Seongnam-si. Number of shopping building for this study is 30 and of stair passage leading light inspected by two lights in each shopping building is 60. The result of this study is that the type of installed leading lights is LED(77%), and 60% of leading lights has problem such as no cleaning, scratch and discoloration, etc. The height of installed leading lights meets the fire law which is less than 1m from the floor. Visible condition of leading lights is good except some leading lights which have a little visible problem due to banner advertisement. 37% of standby power has flickered and went out. 93% of total leading lights meets the fire law which is more than 1lux from 0.5m distance, but cold cathode fluorescent lamps(CCFLs) have the problem which not meets proper brightness level based on fire law. In additional measurement result, zero lux of leading lights is 32%(from 1m distance), 68%(from 1.5m distance) and 98%(from 2m distance). Leading light is very important facility because it is eyes and guide when emergency. Therefore, proper fire facility operating function inspection and total detailed inspection are important to keep the good condition of leading light except simple visual check, and also improvement in law system of type approval, fire construction inspection and illumination level will be needed.

In vector quantization (VQ), mean squared error (MSE) is widely used as a distance measure between vectors. But the distance between averages appears as a dominant quantity in MSE. In the case of image vectors, the coincidence of edge pattern is also important considering human visual system (HVS). Therefore, this paper presents a new distance measure using the variance of difference (VD) as a criterion for the coincidence of edge pattern. By using this in the VQ encoding, we can reduce the degradation of edge region in the reconstructed image. And applying this to the codebook design, we can obtain the final codebook that has a lot of various edge codevectors instead of redundant shade ones.
The purpose of the research is to estimate the amount of a color image reaction variation by changing areas in order to design the method to reduce an error about the color sample when it is applied in the real situation. The summary of the results acquired in this research is as followed. (1) With fixed observing distance of 1m, we observed that the value and chroma of each color object became higher as sight angle was increased as $2^{\circ},\;10^{\circ},\;and\;30^{\circ}$, even though the variation ratio was different. (2) With fixed sight angle of 10, we observed that the value and chroma of each color object becane higher as observing distance was changed from 1m to 3.3m, even though the variation ratio was different. (3) With same area, we observed that the values and chromas of each color object in the conditions of $1m-30^{\circ}\;and\;3.3m-10^{\circ}$ were almost same. (4) When the area became larger, the subjects tended to feel that colors were bright and clear with the increase of tone. In all the colors, the variation of a color reaction in chroma is higher than those in value. In future, we can observe the limit in applying to colors in the architecture by identifying the tendency of the color change according to the area change qualitatively.
