  • This study was carried out to know the effect of mulching on growth and yield of Peucedanum japonicum. Time from sowing to germination was 8day at raising seedling(RS) and 40day at direct sowing(DS). The order of goodness in top part growth as follows : RS+white vinyl mulching (WVM), RS+black vinyl mulching (BVM), RS+no mulching(NM) and DS+NM. Tap root length at RS + NM was significantly shorter than those at the others. Tap root at the others was about same length. Tap root diameter was significantly larger at vinyl mulching than at no mulching and the thinnest at DS+NM. The number of supporting root at RS was more than DS as much as $4.7{\sim}7.1$. Rate of dried root weight to fresh weight was highest(30.5%) at DS+ NM and low at vinyl mulching. Dried root yield per 10a was 542kg at RS+WVM, 506kg at RS+BVM, 419kg at RS+NM and 357kg at DS. These results suggested that raising seedling and white vinyl mulching was good for culture of Peucedanum japonicum.

  • Objectives The aim of this study is to investigate preferred herbal medicine packaging. Methods The study used questionnaires for the caregivers, who have administered their children herbal and western medicine. 106 of them were visited the Department of Pediatrics, the Oriental Medicine Hospital of ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ University, during the period between in 2014. We used PASW Stastics 18.0 to analyze different dosing methods, and preferred packaging and drug formulations. Results 1. 77.4% answered that they use cups to administer medications, 9.4% transferred it to other plastic bottles, 8.5% used straw to drink from the pouch, 4.7% drank as it is inside the pouch. Method of taking it was not very significant depending on the age. 2. Compare to pills and capsules, 48 responders answered that pills and capsules are easier to take, 11 answered herbal medication is easier to take. 32 answered that there were no significant difference. 3. 45.3% reported vinyl pouch was preferable, 44.3% answered spout pouch was preferred, 5.7% answered bottles are convenient, and another 5.7% responders thought cup was fine. Others include syrup bottles had 1 person. These varying preferences were not depending on the age variations. 4. 56.3% answered that price was the main reason why they prefer one over the other. Others 29.2% stated convenience, 12.5% reported safety, and 10.4% people answered ease of administration as their main reason for their preferences. Conclusions Based on this study, numbers of parents felt inconvenient administering herbal medicine as a vinyl pouch, and felt necessary to improve this. However, price and other reasons made vinyl pouch still more preferable option. Vinyl pouch that we are using today didn't show any safety issues. Therefore, it is recommended to still use vinyl pouch, but with caps on top to improve administration and distinguishing issues.

  • The electrical properties due to mixture ratio of linear low density polyethylene(LLDPE) and ethylene vinyl acetate(EVA) films are studied. An experimental specimen is selected as LLDPE/EVA of thickness 200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ produced by mixture ratio of 50 : 50, 60 : 40, 70 : 30 and 80 : 2 wt%. In temperature range from $25^{\circ}C$ to 12$0^{\circ}C$, the measurement of volume resistivity using a highmegohm meter is performed within 10 minutes since each voltage of DC 100 V, 250 V, 500 V and 1000 V is applied, according to the step voltage method. From FT-IR spectrum for an analysis of physical properties, it can be confirmed that LLDPE blended with EVA shows an absence of carbonyl groups(1735 $cm^{-1}$, C=0) and ether groups(1242 $cm^{-1}$, C-O). The peak of LLDPE and EVA made of mixture ratio of 70 : 30 at 2$\theta$ =21.4$^{\circ}$ in the results of XRD is higher than the others. In the experiment for volume resistivity characteristics in order to investigate the electrical properties of specimen, it is confirmed that volume resistivity is decreased with the increase of the molecular motion and temperature.

  • The effects of catalyst, accelerator and blend composition on the cure behavior of unsaturated polyester resin (UPE), vinyl ester resin (VE) and their blends were studied using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The DSC thermograms strongly depend on each variable. The result shows that the small exothermic peak at 115$^{\circ}C$ is due mainly to the UPE component in the UPE/VE blends and the large one at 134~138 $^{\circ}C$ is due mainly to the VE component. The results also indicate that the change of the DSC thermogram measured after each blend was exposed to high temperature 18$0^{\circ}C$ and the fast curing conditions of a few tens seconds provide useful information on understanding the thermal processing of a blend at high speed. The measurements of resin flow time represent that there are three distinct stages of cure in the UPE/VE blends: induction, transition and macro-gelation stages, as similarly reported for UPE by others earlier. The thermal stability and flexural properties of the cured UPE are significantly improved by blending it with the VE, depending on the composition.

  • This experiment was designed to determine the effect of light quality on the appearance of photobleaching leaves during the cure of Burley Tobacco. The harvested and browned tobacco leaves were exposed to sunlight in pipe houses covered with 8 kinds of color vinyls (white, red, black, yellow, purple, orange, blue, green), and exposed to ultraviolet rays(20W x 3) and infrared rays (150W x 2) in curing chamber (1.2 x 1.2 x 1.2m). Photobleaching occured more at lower position leaf and after the leaves being browned when the curing was done in sunlight under a transparent vinyl. But photobleaching leaves were 5-6% of total cured leaves in sunlight under all kinds of color vinyl houses. It seems that photobleaching mainly induced by ultrabiolet rays of sunlight, and humidity too influenced. Yellow, orange and purple vinyl were durable and effective as shading material of color vinyls. since white and red vinyl tore easily in two monthes in strong sunlight and under black and blue vinyl houses curing period was longer than others.

  • Silicone composites for high voltage insulator (HVI SC) were prepared by adding aluminum trihydrate(ATH) treated by surface treatment agent to base silicone compound at the ratio oi 100:20, 100:40, 100:60, 100:80, and 100:100, respectively And also, ATH was treated by various surface treatment agents, such as stearic arid, acryl silane, and vinyl silane under compounding process. Mechanical properties and electrical properties were investigated for the various contents of ATH and surface-treatment agents. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, and tear strength decreased as the load of ATH increased. Volume resistivity, AC break down strength, and tracking resistance for HVI SC containing ATH treated by vinyl silane were better than those for HVI SC containing ATH treated by other surface treatment agents, such as stearic acid and acryl silane. Polymer-filler interaction of silicone composites according to surface treatment agents was studied by measuring bound rubber contend(BR). From the experimental results, BR of silicone composite containing ATH treated with vinyl silane was higher than that of the others. The degree of rule for silicone composite was investigated using Rheometer. Maximum torque of silicone composites contaning ATH treated with vinyl silane was higher than that of silicone composite contaning ATH treated with other surface agents.

  • Georgia lily bulbs from experimental plot of the Chungnam National University, weighting 14.1~18.0gm, were used for this study. These bulbs were treated for the natural cooling at cold frame for 90 days and refrigerating at $8^{\circ}C{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ for 50~90 days. And then, these bulbs were planted in the vinyl house. The results of forcing for each treatments were as follow; 1) The natural cooling treatment gave 3 days ealier flowering than the refrigeratings. 2) In the blooming rate, the height of plant, and the size of flower, all refrigerating treatments were bigger than the natural cooling. 3) Among the refrigerating treatments, the best results were attain in the 50 and 60 days treatments than others. 4) Therefore, it is recommended that Georgia lily, as the next crop after Chrysanthemum ect, can be forced effectively by refrigerating treatment at $8^{\circ}C$ for 50~60 days, if these bulbs can be planted until the end of December.
