  • Rubber wheel-type AGT has two major kinds of bogie; one is the bogie type and the other and passenger loads. This paper deals with the statics analysis for two types of bogie frame subjected to combined external forces, as well as independent ones specified in UIC 515-4. Furthermore, the dynamics analysis is performed under vibrational loading conditions so as to compare dynamic characteristics, Numerical results by using commercial packages, Ⅰ-DEAS and NASTRAN show that maximum stresses do not exceed the yielding level of material used for both bogies. From an overall viewpoint of strength, the bogie type turns out to be superior to the steering type except the case of a lateral loading. It is also observed that the steering type shows a be stiffened. It is strongly anticipated that vibrational fatigue analysis should be carried out under realistic loading conditions closely matching to situations such as running surface and lateral clearances along the guideway.

  • Techniques which are able to predict and control dynamic characteristics, not affecting the vibrational characteristics on the modification of structural design, are being studied. As one of these techniques, experimental modal analysis is widely applied by many researchers. In this study, modal analysis is performed using transfer matrix method by a macro computer. The developed program would estimate the structural modal parameters precisely, and the validity of this program is certified by comparing with the experimental results of .GAMMA A. structure. Estimated modal parameters(natural frequency, vibrational mode, equivalent mass, etc.) are in accord with the experimental results. Also, the optimal location of the additive mass is determined by the evaluation of the vibrational mode and the equivalent mass. The relation between the additive mass and the equivalent mass is specified, and we come to know that the ratio of equivalent mass to additive mass alter linearly within the range of 20%.

  • The paper deals with the structural analysis and vibration test for the scaffolding system of LNG cargo containment. The eight-stories scaffolding system has telescopic area, working area, coner area and storage area in real system. In the structural analysis, the maximum displacement and stress of the each floor for the scaffolding system are investigated by finite element method. In the vibrational analysis, the natural frequencies and mode shapes for 8-stories scaffolding system of the LNG cargo containment are investigated. In order to compare theoretical natural frequencies with experimental ones, small size of 2-step scaffolding structure is used, and the theoretical results for natural frequency have a good agreement with experimental ones.

  • Stiffened panels are widely used in naval architecture and ocean engineering, and knowledge about their dynamic behaviour represents important issue in the design procedure. Ordinary vibration analysis consists of natural frequencies and mode shapes determination and can be extended to forced response assessment, while the Structural Intensity (SI) analysis, assessing magnitude and direction of vibrational energy flow provides information on dominant transmission paths and energy distribution including sink positions. In this paper, vibrational energy flow in stiffened panels under harmonic loading is analyzed by the SI technique employing the finite element method. Structural intensity formulation for plate and beam element is outlined, and developed system combining in-house code and general finite element tool is described. As confirmed within numerical examples, the developed tool enables separation of SI components, enabling generation of novel SI patterns and providing deeper insight in the vibrational energy flow in stiffened panels, comparing to existing works.

  • Energy transfer dynamics of excited vibrational energy of OH stretching bonds in liquid water is theoretically studied. With time-dependent vibrational Hamiltonian obtained from a mixed quantum/classical calculation, we construct a master equation describing the energy transfer dynamics. Survival probability predicted by the master equation is compared with numerically exact one and we found that incoherent picture of energy transfer is reasonably valid for long-time population dynamics. Within the incoherent picture, we assess the validity of independent pair approximation (IPA) often introduced in the theoretical models utilized in the analysis of experimental data. Our results support that the IPA is almost perfectly valid as applied for the vibrational energy transfer in liquid water. However, proper incorporation of radial and orientational correlations between two OH bonds is found to be critical for a theory to be quantitatively valid. Consequently, it is suggested that the Forster model should be generalized by including the effects of the pair correlations in order to be applied for vibrational energy transfer in liquid water.

  • Recent modeling of thermal nonequilibrium processes in simple molecules like hydrogen and nitrogen has indicated that rotational nonequilibrium becomes as important as vibrational nonequilibrium at high temperatures. In the present work, in order to analyze rovibrational nonequilibrium, the rotational mode is separated from the translational-rotational mode that is usually considered as an equilibrium mode in two- and multi-temperature models. Then, the translational, rotational, and electron-electronic-vibrational modes are considered separately in describing the thermochemical nonequilibrium of nitrogen behind a strong normal shock wave. The energy transfer for each energy mode is described by recently evaluated relaxation time parameters including the rotational-to-vibrational energy transfer. One-dimensional post-normal shock flow equations are constructed with these thermochemical models, and post-normal shock flow calculations are performed for the conditions of existing shock-tube experiments. In comparisons with the experimental measurements, it is shown that the present thermochemical model is able to describe the rotational and electron-electronic-vibrational relaxation processes of nitrogen behind a strong shock wave.

  • Generally, there are laser operating equipments( aligner, stepper) and electronic microscope( SEM, TEM) as a high precision manufacturing and inspection equipment in semiconductor production companies, precision examination and measuring laboratories. Mostly, these equipments are characterized by projection and target part. The relative displacements between projection and target part are dominant roles in vibrational problem in these precision equipments. These relative displacements are determined by the position of incoming vibration and the difference of vibration response in projection and target part. In this study, the allowable vibrational limits are suggested and the vibrational reduction plans are proposed by measurement and analysis of vibration phenomenon in the Clean Room in PDP(plasma display panel) production building. The vibration performance is evaluated by comparison relative displacements between projection and target part before/after the vibration isolation plan.

  • In this study, vibrational characteristics of two nano-imprinting stages is analyzed and compared with respect to the methodology to support the upper-plate of the stage. The first type of the stage has three supporters at each corners of the stage and one thrust bearing at the center of the stage. The other type of the stage has four supporter in each corner of the stage without a thrust bearing. The FEM software with flexible modeling is used for the normal mode analysis. The result depicts the difference of vibrational characteristics caused by the difference of support methods. The design criteria for the precision nano-imprinting stage is also discussed.

  • Pentamer cluster of azodicarbonamide (ADA) based on the crystalline structure was investigated for the equilibrium structure, the stabilization energies, and the vibrational properties at various levels of the density functional theory. Stretching force constants of N${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$H or O${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$H, and angle-bending force constants of N-H${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$N or N-H${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$O for intermolecular hydrogen bonds in the pentamer cluster were obtained in 0.2-0.5 mdyn/$\AA$ and 1.6-2.0 mdyn$\AA$, respectively. The geometry of central ADA molecule fully hydrogen bonded with other four molecules shows good coincidence to the crystalline structure except the bond distances of N-H. Calculated Raman and infrared spectra of central ADA molecule in cluster represent well the experimental spectra of ADA obtained in the solid state compared to a single molecule. Detailed structural and vibrational properties of central ADA molecule in the pentamer cluster are presented.
