  • Supplying power to microsystems that have no physical connection to the outside is difficult, and using batteries is not always appropriate. This paper discusses how to generate electricity from mechanical energy when vibrated in a cantilever beam. A model for the system predicts that the output power of the system is maximized when the mechanical damping in the system is minimized. Furthermore, to cover a wide frequency range and to be useful in a number of applications, a system of beams with different resonant frequencies has been designed and optimized. This information makes it possible to determine what design alternatives are feasible for the creation of a micro power supply for any specific application of MEMS.

  • Jitter induced from several payloads on-board satellites degrade the performance of pointing accuracy and attenuate the resolving power of highly-precise camera image such as KOMPSAT II. In this paper, we introduce a micro-vibration measurement technique, analysis of dynamic characteristics, and modeling method for a reaction wheel assembly which is one of the major sources of jitter in satellites and an effective vibration reduction techniques are considered. Based on these techniques, vibration measurement and passive control were performed with an micro-vibration generator which was designed to have similar dynamic performances with an actual reaction wheel assembly above 50Hz.

  • This study focuses on the modeling and analysis of the linear generator for a bladeless wind power generation to overcome the limitations and drawbacks of conventional wind turbines. A bladeless wind power generation system has the advantages of low land requirement for installation and maintenance cost compared to a blade wind power turbine. Nevertheless, question concerning the generator topology are not satisfying answered. The goal of the research is to compare and analyze the characteristics of horizontal and vertical structures of linear generator for bladeless wind power systems. The proposed topology will be analyzed using magnetic energy by equivalent magnetic circuit method, and then it has been compared and evaluated by finite element method. The results of this project will give elaborate information about new generator structures for wind power system and provide insights into the characteristics of bladeless wind power generation.
