  • High speed rotor systems with magnetic bearings have been the subject of much research in recent years due to the potential for active vibration control. In this thesis, optimal design was conducted for an 8-pole heteropolar magnetic bearing used in the flexible rotor of a turbo blower. In connection with bearing stiffness, this optimal design process was conducted using a genetic algorithm(GA), which is based on natural selection and genetics. The maximum stiffness of the magnetic bearing-rotor was found by considering the critical speeds of the flexible rotor. As a result, the magnetic bearings were optimized to have maximum stiffness.

This reason is increasingly strict environmental regulations to lower fuel consumption and reduce emission. Designing more efficient and low emission control exhaust system results in more efficient Performance, reduced back Pressure and higher convert efficiency. Also to reduce the noise and the vibration of the automobile. According to develop variable type muffler, dual muffler and active intelligence exhaust system unit. Improvement in engine performance and fuel consumption rate, higher conversion efficiency demand information of pressure fraction and heat characteristics. To be able to determine these factor fur we experiment on each case of exhaust system unit. In this study, how back pressure is distributed in flow-through in exhaust system and how to design exhaust system flexibleness, efficiency, lower back pressure and optimal performance. This study furnish basic data for engineers, technicians.

  • This paper presents a CMOS interface circuit for vibration energy harvesting. The proposed circuit consists of an AC-DC converter and a DC-DC boost converter. The AC-DC converter rectifies the AC signals from vibration devices(PZT), and the DC-DC boost converter generates a boosted and regulated output at a predefined level. A full-wave rectifier using active diodes is used as the AC-DC converter for high efficiency, and a schottky diode type DC-DC boost converter is used for a simple control circuitry. A MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control is also employed to harvest the maximum power from the PZT. The proposed circuit has been designed in a 0.35um CMOS process. The chip area is $530um{\times}325um$. Simulation results shows that the maximum efficiencies of the AC-DC converter and DC-DC boost converter are 97.7% and 89.2%, respectively. The maximum efficiency of the entire system is 87.2%.

  • In this paper, active noise control was performed to reduce radiated noise in the low frequency band of dishwashers. First, through an analysis of the noise environment of the dishwasher, it was confirmed that the pump noise contributed the most to the radiated noise in the low frequency band, From the result of the noise environment analysis, the reference signal was selected to be the vibration signal of the pump body. The reference signal was obtained by using the accelerometer on the pump body, which can prevent acoustic feedback. The error signal sensor was selected as a microphone located at 1 m in front of the dishwasher and 0.5 m in height. And to design the controller, the error signal and the reference signal were measured at the operational rpms of the dishwasher at 2,500 rpm, 2,600 rpm and 2,800 rpm, and the secondary path transfer function was measured. The designed controller was mounted on Digital Signal Processor (DSP) equipment, and the control performance was verified experimentally. As a result of the measurement at the 3 operational rpms, the 7th multiple component of pump operating frequency decreased by 1.93 dB, 4.43 dB, 5.15 dB per rpm, and the 12th multiple component decreased by 6.67 dB, 2.34 dB, 4.28 dB per rpm. And overall Sound Pressure Level (SPL) decreased by 0.84 dB, 2.58 dB, 1.48 dB by rpm.

  • Recently, magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) material and its devices have been developed and attracted a good deal of attention for their potentials in vibration control. Among them, a highly adaptive base isolator based on MRE was designed, fabricated and tested for real-time adaptive control of base isolated structures against a suite of earthquakes. To perfectly take advantage of this new device, an accurate and robust model should be built to characterize its nonlinearity and hysteresis for its application in structural control. This paper first proposes a novel hysteresis model, in which a nonlinear hyperbolic sine function spring is used to portray the strain stiffening phenomenon and a Voigt component is incorporated in parallel to describe the solid-material behaviours. Then the fruit fly optimization algorithm (FFOA) is employed for model parameter identification using testing data of shear force, displacement and velocity obtained from different loading conditions. The relationships between model parameters and applied current are also explored to obtain a current-dependent generalized model for the control application. Based on the proposed model of MRE base isolator, a second-order sliding mode controller is designed and applied to the device to provide a real-time feedback control of smart structures. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated in simulation through utilizing a three-storey benchmark building model under four benchmark earthquake excitations. The results verify the effectiveness of the proposed current-dependent model and corresponding controller for semi-active control of MRE base isolator incorporated smart structures.

  • This paper presents a linear computational homogenization framework to evaluate the effective (or generalized) electromechanical coupling coefficient (EMCC) of adaptive structures with piezoelectric structural fiber (PSF) composite elements. The PSF consists of a silicon carbide (SiC) or carbon core fiber as reinforcement to a fragile piezo-ceramic shell. For the micro-scale analysis, a micromechanics model based on the variational asymptotic method for unit cell homogenization (VAMUCH) is used to evaluate the overall electromechanical properties of the PSF composites. At the macro-scale, a finite element (FE) analysis with the commercial FE code ABAQUS is performed to evaluate the effective EMCC for structures with the PSF composite patches. The EMCC is postprocessed from free-vibrations analysis under short-circuit (SC) and open-circuit (OC) electrodes of the patches. This linear two-scale computational framework may be useful for the optimal design of active structure multi-functional composites which can be used for multi-functional applications such as structural health monitoring, power harvest, vibration sensing and control, damping, and shape control through anisotropic actuation.

  • Recently, there has been an active study about smart fluid to control the vibration, in which MR fluid is evaluated as most efficient because it can generate different bonding forces based on the intensity of the external magnetic fields. This paper attempts to find a mechanism that, under limited conditions during a clutch production that uses such dynamic characteristic, defects the maximum intensity of electromagnetism. Using the finite element analysis program, we predicted a change within the bonding force of the MR fluid occurring inside the clutch when it is subjected to an increased electric current. In addition, we analyzed the change in the magnetic intensity when the coil comprising the coil control center is switched to multiple lines from the standard single line, to find a mechanism that can maximize the effect. Based on this analysis, we developed the clutch and tested its function, hoping to widen future MR fluid's range of application.
