  • Speaking Rate has variety depends on the situation and habit of speakers. It has been many studied about speaking rate In speaker recognition. The study of speaking rate in speech recognition is one of considerable matter when It is recognized the speakers and it is measured by many speech data base and complicate estimation for accuracy. In this paper, conventional vocoder process the speech signal when encoding and transmitting without regard to speaking rate so in order to apply the speaking rate for vocoder It should be considered the simpler algorithm and less computation amount than the conventional method of speaking rate used In speech recognition. We proposed the speaking rate algorithm which is used the simple parameter with Line Spectrum Pair (LSP). The proposed peaking rate method is measured by the information of LSP in speech. We measured the variety rate of phenomenon about utterances which have different velocity, respectively. As a result, It has distinct variation rate of phenomenon between utterances uttered fast and slow and the rate is 42.8% higher in case of uttered fast than in case of uttered slow.

  • The mathematical aspects of Dufour and Soret phenomena on the peristalsis of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Jeffrey liquid in a symmetric channel are presented. Fluid viscosity is taken variably. Lubrication approach has been followed. Results for the velocity, temperature, and concentration are constructed and explored for the emerging parameters entering into the present problem. The plotted quantities lead to comparative study between the constant and variable viscosities fluids. Graphical results indicate that for non-Newtonian materials, pressure gradient is maximum, whereas pressure gradient is slowed down for variable viscosity. Also both velocity and temperature in the case of variable viscosity are at maximum when compared with results for constant viscosity.

  • To control the position, velocity and torque of the ultrasonic motor, a great variety of method are proposed such as the amplitude, phase difference, frequency and so on. In the case of phase difference method, it has some advantages: it can control the direction and velocity of rotation only adjusting the phase difference and it has wide control-band. During the USM driving on adjusting phase difference, its characteristic was transformed by the change of resonance-frequency of stator, which means that the resonance frequency is different according to the phase difference. Consequently, we need to set up the most suitable driving frequency according to each phase difference.

  • In this research any abnormal motion of a vehicle is detected by utilizing the difference between the reference and actual yaw velocities as sell as the information on vehicle slip angle and slip angular velocity. This information is then used as a criterion for execution of the yaw moment control. A yaw moment control algorithm based on the brake control is proposed for improving the directional stability of the vehicle. The controller executes brake controls to provide each wheel with adequate brake pressures, which generate the needed yaw moment. It is shown that the proposed yaw moment control logic can provide excellent cornering capabilities even on low friction roads. This active control scheme can prevent a vehicle from behaving abnormally, and can assist normal drivers in coping with dangerous situations as well as experienced drivers.

  • Computational four-equation turbulence model is developed and is applied to predict twodimensional unsteady thermal surface discharge into a reservoir. Turbulent stresses and heat fluxes in the momentum and energy equations are determined from transport equations for the turbulent kinetic energy (R), isotropic rate of kinetic energy dissipation (.epsilon.), mean square temperature variance (theta. over bar $^{2}$), and rate of destruction of the temperature variance (.epsilon. $_{\theta}$). Computational results by four-equation model are favorably compared with those obtained by an extended two-equation model. Added advantage of the four-equation model is that it yields quantitative information about the ratio between the velocity time scale and the thermal time scale and more detailed information about turbulent structure. Predicted time scale ratio is within experimental observations by others. Although the mean velocity and temperature fields are similarly predicted by both models, it is found that the four-equation model is preferably candidate for prediction of highly buoyant turbulent flows.

  • A satellite scatterometer is a microwave radar sensor used to measure the backscattering at a sea surface. This instrument transmits radar pulses to the sea surface and measure the radar energy reflected back towards the source. Changes in wind velocity make sea surface roughness change and then affect on backscattered power. This gives us information of sea surface wind speed. Directions of wind vectors are acquired by multiple, collocated, and nearly simultaneous measurements. It should be noted that the scatterometer observes not the wind directly but the wind stress vector relative to the surface current. This suggests the possibility that the satellite scatterometer winds can include the effect of the surface current. This study shows the evidence that scatterometer measure surface wind stress, not surface winds and presents the velocity structure of oceanic warm and cold eddies.

  • In this paper, we present an ultrasonic sensor based path planning method using fuzzy logic for obstacle avoidance of an intelligent vehicle in unknown environments. Generally, Robot navigation in unknown terrains is a very complex task difficult to control because of the great amount of imprecise and ambiguous sensor information that has to be considered. In this case, fuzzy logic can satisfactorily deal with such information in quite efficient manner. In this study, we propose two fuzzy logic controller which is composed of steering controller and velocity controller respectively. Our object is to develop a fuzzy controller that can enable a mobile robot to navigate from a start point to a goal point without collisions, in the least possible travel time. The ability and effectiveness for the proposed algorithm will be demonstrated by simulation and expeiment.

  • In this paper, the radiation characteristics of a slot annenna in conduction cylinder covered with a moving isotropic plasma layer are analyzed. Integral representations of the eletromagnetic fields in the spectral domain radiated through the plasma layer are derived and converted into the fields in the spacial domain by saddle-point ingegration. Radiation null which brings about distorion in the radiation parrern is explained by the zero of integrand in an asymptotic integral as a function of plasma and velocity parameters. Numerical results for a radiation null calculated from various plasma and velocity parameters correspond to the results of planner structure.

  • This paper describes a new identification method for friction in motion control systems, in which the friction model is not necessarily linear in parameters. The proposed method works well with any measurement data of velocity and input control force, as long as the initial and final velocities are identical. Most importantly, the proposed method does not require the information of acceleration for its implementation, in contrast with the previously known methods. This is due to the orthogonality property between acceleration and a function of velocity. In particular, if the parametric model is linear in parameters, its friction parameters can be identified in closed form without resorting to numerical search methods. To illuminate further the generality and practicality of the proposed friction identification method, we show good performance of the proposed method through some simulation results.
