  • The performance evaluation of reinforcement concrete structure is carried out as a function of the following performance influencing factors: (1) the strength of concrete, (2) longitudinal reinforcement, (3) transverse reinforcement, (4) aspect ratio, and (5) axial force. With various values of the five parameters, eigenvalue analysis and non-linear static analysis were performed to investigate the structural yield displacement, yield basis shear force, and static performance of ductility ratio. In addition, the performance evaluation is carried out according to the modified capacity spectrum method (FEMA-440) using the results of non-linear static analysis, and the effect of each parameter on performance point is analyzed. Based on the result of eigenvalue analysis and non-linear static analysis indicates, that the natural period and the ductility ratio are affected more by the structural properties than the material properties. In case of the analysis of the criterion of performance points, the effect of section shape is one of the important factors together with natural period and ductility ratio.

So, These lack of knowledge have given nurses difficulties in planning of care to promote the health during the pregnancy. Objectives of this study were to identify the rate of complaints in each minor discomforts and to explore the influencing factor on reduction of complaints of minor discomforts. The subjects were 120 mothers, who delivered their babies in hospital, from September to December 1990 and the reason why the postpartum mothers were selected as the subjects were minor discomforts could develope during the entire period of pregnancy. Data were gathered by the questionnares and analized statistically using SAS and SPSS program. Results were as follows. 1. More than one third of the subjects complained frequent urination, fatigue, increase of the vaginal discharge, morning sickness, the increased urination at night, pain in leg, backache, edema in leg, constipation, dyspnea, varicose vein, flatulence, headache. 2. Minor discomforts complained to be severe in more than one third of the subjects were frequent urination and increased urination at night. 3. The influencing factor to reduce the complaints of minor discomfort was revealed to be the perceived family support (r=0.030431, t=0.0007). We suggest that nurses should emphasize the importance of the family support to the pregnant women and their family, and to explore the relationships among the locus of control, the perceived family support and the complaints of minor discomforts.

  • This study evaluates the thermal insulation and evaporative resistance of a waterproof and breathable garment system and determines the factors influencing its thermal performance. The experimental garments were composed of underwear (shirts with 100% wool and 100% polyester) and outerwear (jackets and pants with a vapor-permeable membrane and a vapor-impermeable membrane). Data on clothing insulation in a dry condition ($10^{\circ}C$) and a wet condition ($10^{\circ}C$, 40% R.H.), evaporative resistance ($34^{\circ}C$, 40% R.H., and $10^{\circ}C$, 40% R.H.), and microclimate vapor pressure were collected and analyzed. According to the results, the thermal insulation of the experimental garment system ranged 1.27~1.40 in the dry condition and 0.40~0.89 in the wet condition at $10^{\circ}C$. Evaporative resistance ranged $41{\sim}525m^2Pa/W$. A decrease in thermal insulation by wetting underwear ranged 31~67% in the cold condition ($10^{\circ}C$). The breathability of the outer garment influenced the decrease in thermal insulation by wetting. The type of underwear fiber influenced the decrease in thermal insulation only when it was used with breathable outerwear. The vapor-permeable outerwear sample with polyester underwear (P_Perm) showed a larger decrease in insulation than that with wool (W_Perm). The evaporative resistance of the vapor-permeable ensemble showed no effect of underwear in the warm condition ($34^{\circ}C$), but polyester underwear showed lower evaporative resistance than wool in the cold condition ($10^{\circ}C$). The vapor-impermeable ensemble showed no difference in evaporative resistance between polyester underwear and wool underwear in both conditions. Future research should consider various clothing ensemble combinations and environmental conditions and evaluate wear comfort by using human subjects.

  • Although the supply of public parking lots in major cities is steadily increasing, there is still a shortage of parking spaces that take into account the characteristics of actual available parking spaces. These parking problems are caused by conflicts between users, illegal occupation and privatization of roads, interference with traffic roads, and business stagnation in commercial areas and illegal parking problems. In addition, despite various parking demand management policies and continuous supply of public parking facilities, the solution to the parking problem is uneasy due to increased construction costs and changes in social conditions. In order to solve this problem, it was judged that it would be necessary to utilize the existing public parking lots efficiently. Therefore, we collect the variables expected to affect the turnover, and use multiple regression models. The results are summarized as follows. Firstly, public parking lots can be classified into four types using utilization rate and turnover rate. Secondly, influencing factors are found including index of public transportation usage convenience, index of illegal parking, and land use characteristics in central commercial district. Thirdly, it was shown that there was little impact by the size of public parking lots, separation distance to subway distance, separation distance to bus stops, transfer zone, residential zone, and second-rated lots by parking costs. Finally, it is found that public parking lots can be improved by proving accessibility of public transit, enforcement of illegal parking, active approaches supporting public parking lots. It is also recommended that public parking cost rating system based mainly on land use characteristics should be remedied and rearranged.
