Graphene is a two-dimensional sp2 layer material. Despite the short history in the empirical synthesis of the graphene layers, the academic/industrial unique features have brought highly significant interest in research and development related to graphene-related materials. In particular, the electrical and optical performances have been targeted towards pre-existing microelectronicand emerging nanoelectronic applications. The graphene synthesis relies on a variety of processing factors, such as temperature, pressure, and gas ratios involving H2, CH4, and Ar, in addition to the inherent selection of copper substrates. The current work places its emphasis on the role of experimental factors in growing graphene thin films. The thermally-grown graphene layers are characterized using physical/chemical analyses, i.e., four point resistance measurements, Raman spectroscopy, and UV-Visible spectrophotometry. Ultimately, an optimization strategy is proposed in growing high-quality graphene layers well-controlled through empirical factors.

Color selection plays a vitally important role in creating impressions of individuals or companies. This is largely because colors have sensibility aspects, which relate, in part, to images and, in part, to associations. Based on theories of color harmony and sensibility ergonomics, we have developed quantitative and systematic metrics for color images. In this paper, we suggest a color coordinate system that supports color analysis and color harmony functions using color images, which can be captured by corresponding adjectival words. We focus on a prototype system for graphical logo design to exemplify our concepts. The system can be applied to a wide variety of design domains.

By spread of Internet, we become to use several of communication such as email, ICQ, VoIP etc. But as become convenient to use, user must be aware of variety of information regarding the media and partner user. The forecast is that this problem grows larger and larger as new media are brought in the expanding communications network. In this research, we suggest an agent MIA (Media Integration Agent) that manages the information instead of user. The MIA is an agent that obtains situation of user, and dynamically exchanged addresses and tendency of using medias in form of vCard. By use of this, user can choose better communication media. Accordingly seamless communication environment that user doesn't have to be aware of various information is formed.

3rd party content service is a consumer-based wide selection of contents in which IPTV provider believes will enhance the service considerably extending the variety of contents to finally provide a personalized service. Therefore, the combination of 3rd party content services and the IPTV infrastructure creates a good revenue opportunity but they need to be created. IPTV offers to create personalized channels to distribute 3rd party content service. However, the cost of $3^{rd}$ party content delivery is high when the service is provided from a faraway server. IPTV provider requires an effective strategy of replica placement to minimize the cost without a tradeoff on the performance. We propose a cluster-based strategy of replica placement to find the right balance between cost and performance. The results demonstrate the achievement of an outstanding delivery time and low cost.

This paper introduces the development of a range sensor based integrated navigation system for a multi-functional indoor service robot, called PSR (Public Service Robot System). The proposed navigation system includes hardware integration for sensors and actuators, the development of crucial navigation algorithms like mapping, localization, and path planning, and planning scheme such as error/fault handling. Major advantages of the proposed system are as follows: 1) A range sensor based generalized navigation system. 2) No need for the modification of environments. 3) Intelligent navigation-related components. 4) Framework supporting the selection of multiple behaviors and error/fault handling schemes. Experimental results are presented in order to show the feasibility of the proposed navigation system. The result of this research has been successfully applied to our three service robots in a variety of task domains including a delivery, a patrol, a guide, and a floor cleaning task.

Object detection and parameter estimation in point cloud data is a relevant subject to robotics, reverse engineering, computer vision, and sport mechanics. In this paper a software is presented for fully-automatic object detection and parameter estimation in unordered, incomplete and error-contaminated point cloud with a large number of data points. The software consists of three algorithmic modules each for object identification, point segmentation, and model fitting. The newly developed algorithms for orthogonal distance fitting (ODF) play a fundamental role in each of the three modules. The ODF algorithms estimate the model parameters by minimizing the square sum of the shortest distances between the model feature and the measurement points. Curvature analysis of the local quadric surfaces fitted to small patches of point cloud provides the necessary seed information for automatic model selection, point segmentation, and model fitting. The performance of the software on a variety of point cloud data will be demonstrated live.

The year of 2009 marks the $200^{th}$ anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his book, On the Origin of Species. Having survived the 150 years of hardening and tempering, Darwin's theory of natural selection is now more comprehensive and powerful than ever. It casts its shadow over nearly all academic disciplines and societal sectors. It truly revolutionized the way we look at the world and ourselves. In the midst of Darwinian revolution, however, Korea remains as a backward country as far as the understanding of Darwin and his theory is concerned. A variety of intellectual activities organized to celebrate the Year of Darwin is helping to narrow the gap. This article summarizes the kinds of such activities held in Korea this year and explains how Darwin made all this possible. To paraphrase the famous quotation by Theodosius Dobzhansky, I now dare to say, "Nothing in life makes sense except in the light of evolution".

Purpose: This study was attempted to illuminate danger signals through an extensive analysis of factors influencing adolescents' illicit drug use. On this basis, it built predictive factors of adolescents' illicit drug use. Method: A questionnaire was distributed to 1,238 subjects living in Seoul, and of them 1,082 answers were analyzed using the SAS 8.2 program. Also logistic regression analysis was conducted based on the stepwise selection method for constructing the predictive factors. Results: The findings of this study are as follows. Individual-related factors were psycho-somatic symptoms, self-esteem, fortune delinquent experience, and sexual-violence delinquent experience. Home-related factors were insincerity, threatening and the assessment of the parent (rearer)-adolescent communication type. Society-related factors were affection of friends and friends' attitude toward delinquency. Conclusion: These findings of this study suggest that a broad intervention program should be provided to nurture wholesome youth culture related to illicit drug use. It is also recommended that a variety of individual, home and society-related programs should be developed for drug users.

A Rural house in Chungcheong area have been variety of matters, rapid deterioration of house and incomplete of maintenance control, that is represented lack of durability heating from lack of heat insulation property, health worsening form use of toxic substance and so on. For farmers who did not know where to repair and how to repair, they are urgently needed measures of standard and basis that is to realize a condition of rural house. Accordingly, this study drew major matters and priority for revitalization through analysis of type of rural house from research on the actual condition in order to develope of diagnostic criteria of rural house.

In order to select probiotics with a high survival rate in gut and the growth inhibition of virulent pathogens to human beings or animals, we have examined a variety of microorganisms to assess the acid, bile, and pancreatic tolerance and the growth inhibition of E. colt O8 and Salmonella choleraesuis ATCC 8391. Lactobacillus acidophilus KCTC 3155 was shown to inhibit the growth of E. coli and Salmonella dramatically within 24 h of incubation, although it was vulnerable to the exposure of bile acids. Bacillus polyfermenticus showed a good growth inhibition against E. coli, with a moderate acid and bile tolerance, while Clostridium butyricum KCTC 1786 inhibited the growth of E. coli and Salmonella slightly with a good bile tolerance. However, Saccharomyces cerevisiae KCTC 7928 and Aspergillus oryzae KCTC 6075 did not inhibit the growth of E. coli and Salmonella, suggesting that these microorganisms can be used as the sources of nutritional suppliment rather than as probiotics itself.
