  • Variations of springback in stamped parts are induced by the uncontrollable noises including the variation of incoming material properties, lubrication and other forming process parameters. Reduction of springback variation is very important during springback compensation processes on stamping dies and assembly processes. To reduce the variation of springback, a robust optimization methodology which uses complex method combined with orthogonal array is proposed. The proposed method is applied to the robust design of U-channel die for the reduction of side wall curl. It is shown that the drawbead and die radius of U-channel draw die can be effectively optimized by the proposed method.

  • The final purpose of this paper is the enhancement of speech recognition rate under the matched telephone environment between training data and test data. To analyze the effect by the distortion of the changing telephone channel on every call, MFCC is used as the feature parameter and CMN, RTCN, and RASTA are used as channel compensation techniques. For each case, the variation of feature parameters of all phones is analyzed. And, we find recognition rates according to each compensation method using the continuous HMM recognizer, and examine the relationship between variation and recognition rate.

  • Electrical characteristics of LDMOS power device with LDD(Lightly Doped Drain) structure is studied with variation of the region of channel and LDD. The channel in LDMOSFET encloses a junction-type source and is believed to be an important parameter for determining the circuit operation of CMOS inverter. Two-dimensional TCAD MEDICI simulation is used to study hot-carrier effect, on-resistance Ron, breakdown voltage, and transient switching characteristic. The voltage-transfer characteristics and on-off switching properties are studied as a function of the channel length and doping levels. The digital logic levels of the output and input voltages are analyzed from the transfer curves and circuit operation. Study indicates that drain current significantly depends on the channel length rather than the LDD region, while the switching transient time is almost independent of the channel length. The high and low logic levels of the input voltage showed a strong dependency on the channel length, while the lateral substrate resistance from a latch-up path in the CMOS inverter was comparable to that of a typical CMOS inverter with a guard ring.

  • In this report, we present in-orbit radiometric performance prediction for the Amon-Ra (Albedo Monitor and Radiometer) energy channel instrument. The Integrated Ray Tracing (IRT) computational technique uses the ray sets arriving at the Amon-Ra instrument aperture orbiting around the L1 halo orbit. Using this, the variation of flux arriving at the energy channel detector was obtained when the Amon-Ra instrument including the energy channel design observes the Sun and Earth alternately. The flux detectability was verified at the energy channel detector (LME-500-A, InfraTecTM). The detector time response and RMS signal voltage were then derived from the simulated flux variation results. The computation results demonstrate that the designed energy channel optical system satisfies the in-orbit detectability requirement. The technical details of energy channel instrument design, IRT model construction, radiative transfer simulation and output signal computation results are presented together with future development plan.

  • Jitterbug is a passive network covert timing channel supplying reliable stealthy transmission. It is also the basic manner of some improved covert timing channels designed for higher undetectability. The existing entropy-based detection scheme based on training sample binning may suffer from model mismatching, which results in detection performance deterioration. In this paper, a new detection method based on the feature of Jitterbug covert channel traffic is proposed. A fixed binning strategy without training samples is used to obtain bins distribution feature. Coefficient of variation (CV) is calculated for several sets of selected bins and the weighted mean is used to calculate the final CV value to distinguish Jitterbug from normal traffic. Furthermore, the timing window parameter of Jitterbug is estimated based on the detected traffic. Experimental results show that the proposed detection method can achieve high detection performance even with interference of network jitter, and the parameter estimation method can provide accurate values after accumulating plenty of detected samples.

  • We researched the mechanism on th flucturain of Bottom Cold Water in the western channel of Korea Strait, using 13 years(1981~1933) oceanographic data of FRDA. The bottom cold water in the western channel appears more often in summer and fall than in winter and spring, and its year-to-year variation of temperature is very large. Such variation seems to be closely related with the variations of cold waters in the subsurface layer of the southwestern East Sea. According to the longitudinal temperature distribution along the korean southeastern coast, a density difference occurs all the time at the still deepth between the western channel and the southwestern East Sea. Thus, it is inferred that the cold waters would intrude into the western channle form the subsurface layer in the southwestern East Sea as a density-driven current, and it intensity depends upon the density difference.

  • The latch-up current and switching characteristics of MOS-Controlled Thyristor(MCT) are studied with variation of the channel length and impurity concentration. The proposed MCT power device has the lateral structure and P-epitaxial layer in substrate. Two dimensional MEDICI simulator is used to study the latch-up current and forward voltage-drop from the characteristics of I-V and the switching characteristics with variation of impurity concentration. The channel length and impurity concentration of the proposed MCT power device show the strong affect on the anode current and turn-off time. The increase of impurity concentration in P and N channels is found to give the increase of latch-up current and forward voltage-drop.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for improving the performance of low complexity LS channel estimation for OFDM in fast time varying channels. The CE-BEM channel model used for the low complexity LS channel estimation has a problem on its own and deteriorates channel estimation performance. In this paper, we first use time domain windowing in order to remove the effect of ICI caused by data symbols. Then samples are taken from the results of the LS channel estimation and the effects of the windowing are removed from them. For resolving the defect of CE-BEM, the channel responses are recovered by interpolating the resultant samples with DPSS employed as basis functions the characteristics of which is well matched to the time variation of the channel. Computer simulations show that the proposed channel estimation method gives rise to performance improvement over conventional methods especially when channel variation is very fast and confirm that not only which type of functions is selected for the basis but how many functions are used for the basis is another key factor to performance improvement.

  • In this paper, the performances of OFDM and MC-CDMA systems in a slowly-varying multipath fading environment is investigated. Time variation of the multipath channel leads to both a change of an optimal coefficient in one-tap equalizer and a loss of subchannel orthogornality, resulting in significant performance loss. A new simple one-tap equalizer which can reduce the effect of slowly time-varying multipath channel is proposed by taking into account time-variation of multipath profile and modifying the previous equalization techniques. It is demonstrated by computer simulation that the performances of OFDM and MC-CDMA systems can be improved by using the proposed one-tap equalizers when the multipath channel is slowly varying.
