Among the variable-speed AC motor drive systems, the static slip power recovery system has been widely adopted in large power drives because a high efficiency drive can be obtained by recovering the slip power to the AC line. Although many improvements have been made in this system, several problems also remain such as the need of transformer in inverter AC side, which results in limiting speed control range and increasing the losses, production of reactive power by the control of inverter firing angle, harmonics in line currents, and so on. This paper presents the novel high performance slip power recovery system using the boost converter and small size filter in the rotor circuit, which recovers slip power of a wound rotor induction machine to AC supply efficiently with the aid of the boost converter, in which most of the problems in conventional system can be solved. The speed can be controlled by the duty ratio of the converter switch, not by inverter firing angle. As a results, the proposed system can operate in high power factor and the harmonic currents caused by the inverter and rectifier can be considerably suppressed. The validity of the proposed system verified by demonstrating the good agreement in the simulation and experimental results.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to estimate life time of halogen lamps and acceleration factors using accelerated life test. Methods: Voltage was selected as an accelerating variable through the technical review about failure mechanism. The test was performed at 14.5V, 15.5V and 16.5 for 4,471 hours. It was assumed that the lifetime of Halogen lamps follow Weibull distribution and the inverse power life-stress relationship models. Results: Mean lifetimes of pin and screw types were 19,477 hours and 6,056 hours, respectively. In addition, acceleration factor of two items are calculated as 4.8 and 2.2 based on 15.5V, respectively. Conclusion: The life-stress relationship, acceleration factor, and MTTF at design condition are estimated by analyzing the accelerated life test data. These results suggest that voltage was very important factor to accelerate life time in the case of halogen lamps and the life time of pin type is three times longer than screw type lamps.
This paper proposes the structure and the algorithm of the Fuzzy-Neural Controller(FNNC) which is able to adapt itself to unknown plant and the change of circumstances at the Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) with the Neural Network. This Learning Fuzzy Logic Controller is made up of Fuzzy Logic controller in charge of a main role and Neural Network of an adaptation in variable circumstances. This construct optimal fuzzy controller applied to the 2-area load frequency control of power system, and then it would examine fitness about parameter variation of plant or variation of circumstances. And it proposes the optimal Scale factor method wsint three preformance functions( E, , U) of system dynamics of load frequency control with error back-propagation learning algorithm. Applying the controller to the model of load frequency control, it is shown that the FNNC method has better rapidity for load disturbance, reduces load frequency maximum deviation and tie line power flow deviation and minimizes reaching and settling time compared to the Optimal Fuzzy Logic Controller(OFLC) and the Optimal Control for optimzation of performance index in past control techniques.
This paper presents a novel single-stage high frequency resonant inverter link type DC-DC converter using zero voltage switching with high input power factor. The proposed high frequency resonant converter integrates half-bridge boost rectifier as power factor corrector (PFC) and half-bridge resonant converter into a single stage. The input stage of the half-bridge boost rectifier is working in discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) with constant duty cycle and variable switching frequency. So that boost converter make the line current follow naturally the sinusoidal line voltage waveform. Experimental results have demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed DC-DC converter. This proposed converter will be able to be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating applications, DC-DC converter etc.
In the variable-speed wind energy system, to achieve maximum power point tracking (MPPT), the wind turbine should run close to its optimal angular speed according to the wind speed. Non-linear control methods that consider the dynamic behavior of wind speed are generally used to provide maximum power and improved efficiency. In this perspective, the mechanical power is estimated using Kalman filter. And then, from the estimated mechanical power, the wind speed is estimated with Newton-Raphson method to achieve maximum power without anemometer. However, the blade shape and air density get changed with time and the generator efficiency is also degraded. This results in incorrect estimation of wind speed and MPPT. It causes not only the power loss but also incorrect wind resource assessment of site. In this paper, the adaptive maximum power point tracking control algorithm for wind turbine system based on the estimation of wind speed is proposed. The proposed method applies correction factor to wind turbine system to have accurate wind speed estimation for exact MPPT. The proposed method is validated with numerical simulations and the results show an improved performance.
The wind energy is one of the most prospective resources in renewable energy. However, the WTGS shouldn't be installed indiscriminately because the power system can be negatively influenced by a variable and uncertain nature of the wind energy. It is the reason why it has to be limited to install the WTGS thoughtlessly mentioned above that support the importance of the maximum penetration limit of wind power. It may required that power system operators suggests a new way of power system operation as percentage of the WTGS increase in the existing power system. The wind power is fixed in a limited area, so using rate of the wind power will be increased by installing additional WTGS. In this paper, we have studied on economic evaluation of the wind capacity increased by restricting the output of the WTGS as the way to increase the wind capacity.
Usually, in many applications, high frequency resonant inverters are used, and the PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation), PFM(Pulse Frequency Modulation) or PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) techniques are used to control the output power of resonant inverters. In this paper, a new switching scheme is proposed as a PWM control method. With the proposed method, it can be obtained that unity output displacement factor under the variable resonant frequency. The detail algorithm of the proposed PWM switching scheme and its charicteristics are discussed. And the validity of the proposed method is confirmed with the experimental results.
Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor codes are used as channelization codes in WCDMA. In this particular paper, we present a new OVSF codes which is generated from the Jacket Matrices for DS-CDMA systems. The simulations result shows that the purposed OVSF can efficiently reduce the peak values of the correlations than the conventional HOVSF without orthogonality loss. It will be useful to detect the multi-user system under the asynchronous system and save the power of transmission.
This study discovers the variables in the railway safety management which give impacts to safety cognition of the employees. Next we do factor analysis to find out latent variables which include safety variables and regression analysis to measure the explanation power of the latent variables. We got the results that expertness latent variable explains the variation of the accidents more than other latest variables
