수학적 최적화기법을 이용한 결함인식 연구 (Crack Identification Using Optimization Technique)

  • It has been established that a crack has an important effect on the dynamic behavior of a structure. This effect depends mainly on the location and depth of the crack. To identify the location and depth of a crack in a structure. Nikolakopoulos et. al. used the intersection point of the superposed contours that correspond to the eigenfrequency caused by the crack presence. However the intersecting point of the superposed contours is not only difficult to find but also incorrect to calculate. A method is presented in this paper which uses optimization technique for the location and depth of the crack. The basic idea is to find parameters which use the structural eigenfrequencies on crack depth and location and optimization algorithm. With finite element model of the structure to calculate eigenfrequencies, it is possible to formulate the inverse problem in optimization format. Method of optimization is augmented lagrange multiplier method and search direction method is BFGS variable metric method and one dimensional search method is polynomial interpolation.

  • This report is the result of the basic geologic investigation for the purpose of preparing the long-term development program of the U-jeon Consolidated Coal kline. The Consolidated Coal Mine is located at Gujeol-ri, Wangsan-myeon, Myeongju-gun, and Yucheon-ri, Bug-myeon, Jeongseon-gun, Gan-gweon Province (128$^{\circ}$ 43′10.4"-128$^{\circ}$ 46′10. 4"of east long-ititude, 37$^{\circ}$ 30′-37$^{\circ}$ 33′ of north latitude). This region, the western part of Taebaek mountain range, shows a ragged mountinous feature. Formations of the Pyeongan System of Paleozoic Era are distribu ted in the region with the surrounding Great Limestone Series of Joseon System which covers the south-eastern part of the region. The Pyeongan System is divided into four formations, namely, the Hongjeom, the Sadong, the Gobang and the Hongam, in ascending order. The sadong Formation intercalates several coal beds, and two coal beds out of them are minable. The coal beds are variable in thickness, having the repeated swelled or poket and the pinched parts, which suggest all intense disturbance caused by folding. The heat value of the coal is 5, 500cal. on the average. The total amount of coal reserves of the U-jeon consolidated Coal Mine is estimated at about thirty million metric tons.

Informative Role of Marketing Activity in Financial Market: Evidence from Analysts' Forecast Dispersion

  • As advertising and promotions are categorized as operating expenses, managers tend to reduce marketing budget to improve their short term profitability. Gauging the value and accountability of marketing spending is therefore considered as a major research priority in marketing. To respond this call, recent studies have documented that financial market reacts positively to a firm's marketing activity or marketing related outcomes such as brand equity and customer satisfaction. However, prior studies focus on the relation of marketing variable and financial market variables. This study suggests a channel about how marketing activity increases firm valuation. Specifically, we propose that a firm's marketing activity increases the level of the firm's product market information and thereby the dispersion in financial analysts' earnings forecasts decreases. With less uncertainty about the firm's future prospect, the firm's managers and shareholders have less information asymmetry, which reduces the firm's cost of capital and thereby increases the valuation of the firm. To our knowledge, this is the first paper to examine how informational benefits can mediate the effect of marketing activity on firm value. To test whether marketing activity contributes to increase in firm value by mitigating information asymmetry, this study employs a longitudinal data which contains 12,824 firm-year observations with 2,337 distinct firms from 1981 to 2006. Firm value is measured by Tobin's Q and one-year-ahead buy-and-hold abnormal return (BHAR). Following prior literature, dispersion in analysts' earnings forecasts is used as a proxy for the information gap between management and shareholders. For model specification, to identify mediating effect, the three-step regression approach is adopted. All models are estimated using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods to test the statistical significance of the mediating effect. The analysis shows that marketing intensity has a significant negative relationship with dispersion in analysts' earnings forecasts. After including the mediator variable about analyst dispersion, the effect of marketing intensity on firm value drops from 1.199 (p < .01) to 1.130 (p < .01) in Tobin's Q model and the same effect drops from .192 (p < .01) to .188 (p < .01) in BHAR model. The results suggest that analysts' forecast dispersion partially accounts for the positive effect of marketing on firm valuation. Additionally, the same analysis was conducted with an alternative dependent variable (forecast accuracy) and a marketing metric (advertising intensity). The analysis supports the robustness of the main results. In sum, the results provide empirical evidence that marketing activity can increase shareholder value by mitigating problem of information asymmetry in the capital market. The findings have important implications for managers. First, managers should be cognizant of the role of marketing activity in providing information to the financial market as well as to the consumer market. Thus, managers should take into account investors' reaction when they design marketing communication messages for reducing the cost of capital. Second, this study shows a channel on how marketing creates shareholder value and highlights the accountability of marketing. In addition to the direct impact of marketing on firm value, an indirect channel by reducing information asymmetry should be considered. Potentially, marketing managers can justify their spending from the perspective of increasing long-term shareholder value.

다양한 노출 매트릭스를 통한 송전선로 주변과 비 주변 거주 초등학교 학생의 극저주파 자기장 노출량 평가에 관한 연구 (Exposure Assessment of Extremely Low Frequency Magnetic Fields by variable exposure matrices for the Selected Primary Schoolchildren Living Nearby and Away from a Overhead Transmission Power Line)

  • The objectives of this study were to analyze and compare 24 hrs personal exposure levels of MF at microenvironments such as home, school, educational institute, internet pc game room, transportation, and other places according to time activity patterns using various metrics for children attending the primary schools located near and away from the power lines, and to characterize the major microenvironments and impact factors attributed personal exposure level. The study was carried out for 44 children attending a primary school away from the lines(school A) and 125 children attending a school away from 154 kV power lines(school B), all who aged 12 years and were 6 grade, from July 2003 to December 2003. All participants filled in a questionnaire about characteristics, residence, use of electrical appliances and others. Children wore a small satchel in which EMDEX II and Lite (Enertech, Co. Ltd) and a diary of activity list for period of registration in 20 minutes blocks. All statistical calculations were made with the SAS System, Releas 6.12. The summary of results was presented below. First, about the characteristics of subjects, there no differences between two groups. The subject almost spent about 56 % of their time at home and about 20~25 % of their time at school. Fifty percent of children spent 2 hours at private educational institutes. Second, the personal exposure measurements of children in school B was statistically higher than those of children in school A by various metrics such as arithmetic mean, geometric mean, percentile(5, 25, 50, 75, 95), maximum, rate of change metric, constant field metric. The arithmetic and geometric mean magnetic fields during the time the children were at school B were 0.98 and $0.86{\mu}T$ and were about 23 times higher than those of children were at school A. In conclusion, the significant major determinants of personal exposure level is the distance from the power line to microenvironments.

다중 고착 고장을 위한 효율적인 고장 진단 알고리듬 (An Efficient Diagnosis Algorithm for Multiple Stuck-at Faults)

  • VLSI의 복잡도가 증가함에 따라, 보다 복잡한 고장이 나타나게 되었다. 단일 고장 진단을 위한 많은 방법들이 연구되어 왔다. 때로는 오류가 존재하는 칩에 대한 다중 결함이 실제 현상을 보다 더 정확하게 반영한다. 따라서 다중 고착 고장을 위한 효율적인 고장 진단 알고리듬을 제한하겠다. 제안하는 매칭 알고리듬은 완전일치공통부분을 고장 진단의 중요한 기준으로 사용함으로써 단일 고착 고장 시뮬레이터 환경에서도 다중 고착 고장을 진단할 수 있다. 또한 각 고장간의 식별성을 높여 다중 고착 고장을 진단함에도 불구하고, 고장 후보의 수를 획기적으로 줄일 수 있었다. 이를 위하여 출력단의 수에 따른 가중치 개념과 가산, 감산 연산을 사용하였다. 제안한 매칭 알고리듬은 ISCAS85회로와 완전 주사 스캔이 삽입된 ISCAS89회로에서 실험하여 성능을 입증하였다.

무선 모바일 네트워크상에서 퍼지 유사도를 이용한 적응형 멀티-레벨 스트리밍 서비스 (Adaptive Multi-level Streaming Service using Fuzzy Similarity in Wireless Mobile Networks)

  • 무선 모바일 네트워크 환경에서 스트리밍 서비스는 불확실한 동적 채널 속성으로 인하여 매우 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 특히 혼잡, 지연, 지터 등과 같은 오버헤드는 적응형 멀티-레벨 스트리밍 서비스의 성능 저하를 가져오고 있다. 본 논문에서는 무선 모바일 네트워크상에서의 가변 대역폭, 이동성 자원 제약 등으로 인한 성능 저하를 줄이기 위하여 AMSS 메카니즘을 제안한다. 제안된 AMSS는 다음과 같은 목적을 두고서 스트리밍 서비스를 최적화하는데 있다. 1) 퍼지 유사도 척도 이용, 2) 버퍼 오버플로우와 자원 소모로 인한 패킷 손실 최소화, 3) 혼잡과 지연으로 인한 패킷 손실 최소화. 시뮬레이션 결과 제안된 기법이 기존의 TCP-기반 기법, UDP-기반 기법, 그리고 VBM-기반 기법에 비해서 혼잡 제어와 패킷 손실율의 성능이 더 우수함을 보인다. 제안된 기법은 성능이 우수한 VBM-기반 기법과 비교해 볼 때 혼잡 제어율은 10%, 그리고 패킷 손실율은 8%의 성능 향상을 보였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 모바일 3D 그래픽 가속기의 저전력 텍스쳐 캐쉬 구조를 제안하였다. 모바일 3D 그래픽 가속기는 동작모드에서 대규모 메모리 접근이 필요한 텍스쳐 매핑의 메모리 지연시간을 감소하고 대기모드에서 누설 전력소비를 줄이는 것이 매우 중요하다. 제안하는 텍스쳐 캐쉬 구조는 응용 프로그램의 텍스쳐 필터링 알고리즘에 따라서 가변적인 전력 모드 전환 기준으로 동작하여 누설전력을 줄이고 동작시간의 이득을 얻는다. 제안한 구조의 성능 검증을 위하여 트레이스 기반 텍스쳐 캐쉬 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 누설전력과 수행시간을 모두 고려한 성능 척도에서 이전 연구인 MSA 캐쉬보다 최대 7%의 성능 이득을 얻었다.

Cross-cutting 기반의 클라우드 서비스 품질 메트릭 및 SLA 명세 기법 (Quality Metrics of Cloud Service Based on Cross-cutting and SLA Specification Mechanism)

  • 클라우드 서비스가 증가하고 다양해짐에 따라 클라우드 서비스 사용자들의 요구사항을 만족하는 가장 적절한 서비스를 찾아주는 클라우드 서비스 브로커(CSB) 기술이 나타났다. CSB를 통해 클라우드 서비스가 사용되는 것을 촉진시키기 위해서는 서비스 수준 협약(SLA) 기반의 협상 과정을 통해 사용자들의 요구사항에 맞는 품질 수준을 보장하는 것이 중요하다. 그러나 클라우드 서비스 유형 별로 품질 수준을 표현하는 측정 기준과 척도, 계산 방식이 서로 상이하다. 따라서 클라우드 서비스의 품질에 대한 가변성을 분석하고, 분석된 품질 수준을 보장 및 개선하기 위한 SLA 모델이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 cross-cutting 개념을 적용하여 클라우드 서비스의 유형 별 품질 메트릭을 분석하고 사용자와 제공자 간의 품질 수준에 대한 협상을 담당하는 VSLA(Variable SLA) 메타모델을 제안한다.

Altmetrics: Factor Analysis for Assessing the Popularity of Research Articles on Twitter

  • Altmetrics measure the frequency of references about an article on social media platforms, like Twitter. This paper studies a variety of factors that affect the popularity of articles (i.e., the number of article mentions) in the field of psychology on Twitter. Firstly, in this study, we classify Twitter users mentioning research articles as academic versus non-academic users and experts versus non-experts, using a machine learning approach. Then we build a negative binomial regression model with the number of Twitter mentions of an article as a dependant variable, and nine Twitter related factors (the number of followers, number of friends, number of status, number of lists, number of favourites, number of retweets, number of likes, ratio of academic users, and ratio of expert users) and seven article related factors (the number of authors, title length, abstract length, abstract readability, number of institutions, citation count, and availability of research funding) as independent variables. From our findings, if a research article is mentioned by Twitter users with a greater number of friends, status, favourites, and lists, by tweets with a large number of retweets and likes, and largely by Twitter users with academic and expertise knowledge on the field of psychology, the article gains more Twitter mentions. In addition, articles with a greater number of authors, title length, abstract length, and citation count, and articles with research funding get more attention from Twitter users.

MANET에서 비디오 전송 품질을 위한 Cross-layer 시뮬레이션과 분석 (Cross-layer Simulation and Analysis for Video Transmission Quality in MANET)

  • MANET(Mobile ad hoc networks)은 이동 단말로 구성된 동적인 자가 생성 네트워크를 의미한다. 본 연구에서는 MANET에서 비디오 전송 서비스를 다루고 있는 최근 연구를 보완하기 위한 개선된 cross-layer 접근 방법을 제시하고 있다. 본 연구는 ns-3 시뮬레이션을 통해 수행되며, 시뮬레이션에 소요되는 시간을 감안하여 효율적으로 각 계층의 주요 인자의 상호작용을 동시에 고려하기 위해 통계적 실험계획법을 활용하고자 한다. 제안된 cross-layer 접근 방법은 MANET 프로토콜 계층(물리, 네트워크, 전송 계층)과 응용 계층(비디오 인코더)를 동시에 인자로 다루고 있고, 반응 변수로는 객관적 비디오 품질 지표를 포함한다. 본 연구의 결과는 통제 불가능한 인자의 값에 따라 통제 가능한 인자를 설정하여 최적의 비디오 품질을 제공하는 MANET 비디오 전송 어플리케이션을 설계하는 기초 연구로써 활용될 수 있다.
