견 피브로인 분말과 필름의 제조 및 구조 분석 (Preparation and Structural Characterization of Silk Fibroin Powder and Film)

  • 특이한 분자 구조를 가진 생체 고분자로서 유용한 견 피브로인은 다양하게 성형 가공할 수 있으며 이를 위해서는 견 피브로인 수용액을 필요로 한다. 견 피브로인의 용해 조건이 형성되는 견 피브로인의 분말과 필름에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 종성염과 산가수분해법으로 견 피브로인을 용해시킨 수용액으로부터 견 피브로인 분말과 필름을 제조하고 이들의 특성을 아미노산 조정 분석, SEM, DSC, IR, X-ray Diffraction 등의 방법을 통하여 조사 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 염화칼슘법과 염산법에 의해 피브로이을 용해시켰을 때 처리에 따라 아미노산 조성은 달랐으며 분자량도 차이가 있었다. 2. 분말의 구조 분석 결과, 염화칼슘법에 의한 처리에서 열분해 온도는 대조에 비해 낮게 나타났고 무정형의 분자 구조를 띄고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 염산 처리에 의한 잔유물은 대조보다 높은 온도에서 $\beta$구조에 의한 분해 거동을 보였으며 높은 결정화도를 나타냈다. 한편 염산에 용해된 부분은 열분해 분석 결과 a-helix에 의한 흡열 peak을 나타냈다. 3. 염화칼슘법에 의해 형성된 견 피브로인 필름은 모정형에 가까운 결정 구조를 가지고 있지만 불용화 처리에 의해 결정성이 향상됨에 따라 피브로인 필름의 흡습율은 감소하였으며, 열분해 온도가 증가했다.

실란화 반응에 의한 종이 표면의 소수성 자기조립 단분자막 형성 (Formation of Hydrophobic Self-assembled Monolayers on Paper Surface with Silanes)

  • This study was conducted to modify the surface properties of papers by formation of hydrophobic self-assembled monolayer(SAM) on paper surface with silanes. A base paper I(0.5% AKD) and base paper II(1.0-1.5% AKD) were reacted with silanes(PFDTES, DMDCS, MODDCS) by immersion method and vapor deposition method. Hydrophobic SAMs(contact angle value>$120^{\circ}C$) were obtained on all papers after treatment with $10^{\mu}l$ PFDTES for 15min, with $50^{\mu}l$ DMDCS for 30min, with $50^{\mu}l$ MODDCS for 300min. When applying PFDTES to paper surface, lower silane concentration and shorter reaction time were required, whereas MODDCS with long alkyl chain required the longest reaction time of 300min. The st$\ddot{o}$ckight sizing degree of silane treated papers were increased between 105sec(base paper I) and 130sec(base paper II). The wet tensile strength of PFDTES-treated base papers(I, II) increased by 10-34% after SAM formation. However, the wet tensile strength of the DMDCS-treated base paper(I) was found to decrease from 0.067kN/m to 0.038kN/m; this may due to the cellulose degrading as a result of generated hydrogen chloride when hydroxyl group of cellulose were reacted with DMDCS. No apparent changes of PPS roughness on silane-treated papers are observed. The ATR-IR spectrum showed absorption peak located at 465 and 1200cm-1 which can be assigned to the Si-O-C asymmetric stretching and Si-O-C bonds, respectively.

도핑되지 않은 다이아몬드 박막의 전기전도 경로와 전도기구 연구 (Studies on the Conducion path and Conduction Mechanism in undeped polycrystalline Diamond Film)

  • 본 연구에서는 도핑하지 않은 다이아몬드 박막에서의 전류전도 경로를 체계적으로 규명하고 다이아몬드 박막의 전도기구에 대해 조사하였다. 도핑되지 않은 다결정 다이아몬드 박막에서 두께와 측정방향에 따른 교류 임피던스법에 의해 측정된 저향값이 기존의 표면전도 모델과는 일치하지 안니하였다. 다이아몬드 박막에 구리를 전기도금한 결과 구리는 결정립계에만 불연속적으로 도금되었고 다이아몬드 박막 위에 은을 증착한 후 전지에칭을 한 결과 결정립계가 우선 에칭이 되어 전류가 결정립계를 통하여 흐름을 확인하였다. 또, 리본형 다이아몬드 박막의 표면을 절연층으로 형성시킨 후 박막 내부의 결정립계를 통하여 전류가 흘러 전기도금이 되는 것으로부터 다결정 다이아몬드 박막의 주요 전기전도 경로는 결정립계임을 확인하였다. 높은 전기전도도를 보여주는 다이아몬드 박막은 전도 활성화 에너지가 45meV 정도이었고 dangling bond 밀도는 낮았다. 그러나 산소 열처리나 수소플라즈마처리가 Si passivation 이론과는 반대로 dangling bond 밀도를 증가시키면서 전기전도성을 떨어뜨렸다. 이 결과들과 표면의 탄소화학결합을 연결시켜 높은 전도성을 야기시키는 결합은 H-C-C-H 결합임을 추론하였다.

졸-겔법을 이용한 광증폭기의 Er 이온 캡슐화 및 광학적 특성 (Encapsulation and optical properties of Er3+ ions for planar optical amplifiers via sol-gel process)

  • The fast evolution in the fold of optical communication systems demands powerful optical information treatment. These functions can be performed by integrated optical systems. A key component of such systems is erbium doped waveguide amplifier(EDWA). The intra 4f radiative transition of Er at 1.5 $\mu\textrm{m}$ is particularly interesting because this wavelength is standard in optical telecommunications. The fabrication of waveguide amplifier for integrated optics using sol-gel process has received an increasing attention. Potential advantage of lower cost by less capital equipment and easy processing makes this process an attractive alternatives to conventional technologies like flame hydrolysis deposition, ion exchange and chemical vapor deposition, etc. In addition, sol-gel process has been found to be extremely suitable for the control of composition and refractive index related directly with optical properties. The main drawback of such an amplifier with respect to the EDWA is the need for a much higher Er3+ concentration to compensate for the smaller interaction length. However, the high doping of Er might be resulted in the non-radiative relaxation by clustering of Er ions End co-operative upconversion. In order to solve this problem, we investigate the possibility of avoiding short Er-Er distances by encapsulation of Er3+ ions in hosts such as organic-inorganic hybrid materials. For inorganic-organic hybrid sols, methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS), zirconyl chloride octahydrate and erbium(III) chloride hexahydrate were used as starting materials, followed by conventional sol-gel process. It was observed by TEM that nano sols having core/shell toplology were formed, depending on the mole ratio of Zr/Er. The surface roughness for the coatings on Si substrate was investigated by AFM as a function of Zr/Er ratio. The local environment and vibrational Properties of Er3+ ions were studied using Near-IR, FT-IR, and UV/Vis spectroscopy. Nano hybrid coatings derived from polymer and Er doped encapsulation Eave the good luminescence at 1.55$\mu\textrm{m}$.

Fabrication and Characteristics of Lateral Type Field Emitter Arrays

  • We have proposed and fabricated two lateral type field emission diodes, poly-Si emitter by utilizing the local oxidation of silicon (LOCOS) and GaN emitter using metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) process. The fabricated poly-Si diode exhibited excellent electrical characteristics such as a very low turn-on voltage of 2 V and a high emission current of $300{\;}\bu\textrm{A}/tip$ at the anode-to-cathode voltage of 25 V. These superior field emission characteristics was speculated as a result of strong surface modification inducing a quasi-negative electron affinity and the increase of emitting sites due to local sharp protrusions by an appropriate activation treatment. In respect, two kinds of procedures were proposed for the fabrication of the lateral type GaN emitter: a selective etching method with electron cyclotron resonance-reactive ion etching (ECR-RIE) or a simple selective growth by utilizing $Si_3N_4$ film as a masking layer. The fabricated device using the ECR-RIE exhibited electrical characteristics such as a turn-on voltage of 35 V for $7\bu\textrm{m}$ gap and an emission current of~580 nA/l0tips at anode-to-cathode voltage of 100 V. These new field emission characteristics of GaN tips are believed to be due to a low electron affinity as well as the shorter inter-electrode distance. Compared to lateral type GaN field emission diode using ECR-RIE, re-grown GaN emitters shows sharper shape tips and shorter inter-electrode distance.

환상유로에 있어서 수직고온관의 과도적 냉각과정에 관한 연구 (A study on the transient cooling process of a vertical-high temperature tube in an annular flow channel)

  • In the case of boiling on high temperature wall, vapor film covers fully or parcially the surface. This phenomenon, film boiling or transition boiling, is very important in the surface heat treatment of metal, design of cryogenic heat exchanger and emergency cooling of nuclear reactor. Mainly supposed hydraulic-thermal accidents in nuclear reactor are LCCA (Loss of Coolant Accident) and PCM (Power-Cooling Mismatch). Recently, world-wide studies on reflooding of high temperature rod bundles after the occurrence of the above accidents focus attention on wall temperature history and required time in transient cooling process, wall superheat at rewet point, heat flux-wall superheat relationship beyond the transition boiling region, and two-phase flow state near the surface. It is considered that the further systematical study in this field will be in need in spite of the previous results in ref. (2), (3), (4). The paper is the study about the fast transient cooling process following the wall temperature excursion under the CHF (Critical Heat Flux) condition in a forced convective subcooled boiling system. The test section is a vertically arranged concentric annulus of 800 mm long and 10 mm hydraulic diameter. The inner tube, SUS 304 of 400 mm long, 8 mm I.D, and 7 mm O.D., is heated uniformly by the low voltage AC power. The wall temperature measurements were performed at the axial distance from the inlet of the heating tube, z=390 mm. 6 chromel- alumel thermocouples of 76 .mu.m were press fitted to the inner surface of the heating tube periphery. To investigate the heat transfer characteristics during the fast transient cooling process, the outer surface (fluid side) temperature and the surface heat flux are computed from the measured inner surface temperature history by means of a numerical method for inverse problems of transient heat conduction. Present cooling (boiling) curve is sufficiently compared with the previous results.

확장표면을 적용한 액체식 제습기에서 제습액 분배 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Liquid Desiccant Distribution Characteristics at a Dehumidifier with Extended Surface)

  • Liquid desiccant cooling technology can supply cooling by using waste heat and solar heat which are hard to use effectively. For compact and efficient design of a dehumidifier, it is important to sustain sufficient heat and mass transfer surface area for water vapor diffusion from air to liquid desiccant on heat exchanger. In this study, the plate type heat exchanger is adopted which has extended surface, and hydrophilic coating and porous layer coating are adopted to enhance surface wettedness. PP(polypropylene) plate is coated by porous layer and PET(polyethylene terephthalate) non-woven fabric is coated by hydrophilic polymer. These coated surfaces have porous structure, so that falling liquid film spreads widely on the coated surface foaming thin liquid film by capillary force. The temperature of liquid desiccant increases during dehumidification process by latent heat absorption, which leads to loss of dehumidification capacity. Liquid desiccant is cooled by cooling water flowing in plate heat exchanger. On the plate side, the liquid desiccant can be cooled by internal cooling. However the liquid desiccant on extended surface should be moved and cooled at heat exchanger surface. Optimal mixing and distribution of liquid desiccant between extended surface and plate heat exchanger surface is essential design parameter. The experiment has been conducted to verify effective surface treatment and distribution characteristics by measuring wall side flow rate and visualization test. It is observed that hydrophilic and porous layer coating have excellent wettedness, and the distribution can be regulated by adopting holes on extended surface.

t-ZrO$_2$/Al$_2$O$_3$복합체 상 안정성에 대한 Eu$_2$O$_3$첨가 효과 (Effect of EuO$_3$addition on hydrothermal stability of t-ZrO$_2$/Al$_2$O$_3$composites)

  • 생체적합성과 상 안정성이 우수한 t-$ZrO_2/Al_2O_3$복합체에 $Eu_2O_3$을 0~4 mol%첨가한 복합체를 $1600^{\circ}C$ 온도에서 1 시간 소결하여 상 안정성, 색상변화, 기계적 특성을 조사하였다. $180^{\circ}C$, 3.5MPa의 수증기 압력 하에서 20시간 열처리 후 X-선 회절법으로 관찰한 결과 $Eu_2O_3$가 첨가된 (Y,Nb,Eu)-TZP/$Al_2O_3$복합체는 우수한 상 안정성이 유지되었다. $Eu_2O_3$의 양이 증가함에 따라 백색계통의 상아색에서 미색의 핑크색으로 서서히 변화하였다 $Eu_2O_3$가 3 mol%까지 첨가된 복합체의 경우 620MPa, 7.6MPa.$m^{1/2}$ 이상의 강도와 인성값이 관찰되었다.

Mg-Ni 금속 간 화합물 나노입자의 형성과 수소저장 특성 (Formation and Hydrogen Absorption Properties of Intermetallic Mg-Ni Compound Nanoparticles)

  • Mg-Ni nanoparticles were synthesized by a physical vapor condensation method (DC arc-discharge) in a mixture of argon and hydrogen atmosphere, using compressed mixture of micro powders as the raw materials. The crystal phases, morphology, and microstructures of nanoparticles were analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). It was found that the intermetallic compounds of $Mg_2Ni$ and $Mg_2Ni$ formed with existence of phases of Mg, Ni, and MgO in Mg-Ni nanoparticles. After one cycle of hydrogen absorption/desorption process (activation treatment), Mg-Ni nanoparticles exhibited excellent hydrogen absorption properties. $Mg_2Ni$ phase became the main phase by aphase transformation during the hydrogen treatments. The phenomenon of refinement of grain size in the nanoparticle was also observed after the hydrogen absorption/desorption processes, which was attributed to the effect of volume expansion/shrinkage and subsequent break of nanoparticles. Maximum hydrogen absorption contents are 1.75, 2.21 and 2.77 wt.% at 523, 573 and 623 K, respectively.

수처리용 정밀여과 멤브레인의 제조 및 특성 연구 (Preparation and Characterization of Microfiltration Membranes for Water Treatment)

  • 상 전이 공정을 이용하여 polysulfone계 비대칭 정밀 여과막을 제조하였다. Polysulfone/N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone/polyvinylpyrrolidone/phosphoric acid계로 이루어진 casting 용액을 사용하였으며 응고조로는 물을 사용하였다. 멤브레인 제조공정에 적용된 상 전이 공정으로 증기 유도 상 전이 공정을 적용하였으며 상대습도 74%에서 캐스팅 판의 온도와 노출 시간을 조절한 결과 기공의 크기와 구조에 있어 변화를 관찰할 수 있었다. 제조된 멤브레인의 구조는 SEM과 microflow permporometer를 사용하여 조사하였다. Phosphoric acid의 첨가는 조밀한 스펀지 형태의 멤브레인을 느슨한 스펀지 형태의 멤브레인으로 변화시켰으며 촉매량의 Phosphoric acid 첨가로도 평균 기공크기는 거의 $0.2{\mu}m$ 정도 커지고 유량도 약 3,000 LMH가 증가하였다. 캐스팅 판의 온도와 노출 시간의 변화는 표면층의 구조, 기공의 크기 및 공극률에 큰 변화를 가져옴을 확인할 수 있었다.
