An Empirical Study on Emotional Intensity and the Influence of Product Involvement in the Context of the Integrative Framework

  • A model is proposed for the role of emotional intensity of a web site, and the moderating influence of product involvement, in the Integrative Framework of persuasion (Meyers-Levy and Malvaiya 1999). The model also appropriately operationalizes the constructs emotional intensity of a web site and product involvement The three routes to persuasion, Central, Peripheral, and Experiential correspond to high, moderate, and low involvement (Meyers-Levy and Malaviya 1999). The involvement construct is measured from message recipients using the Personal Product Inventory (Pill, which was developed to capture the concept of product involvement (Zaichkowsky 1985). The conceptualization of the Personal Product Inventory is a contextrree measure that also has robust psychometric properties when applied to advertisements (Zaichkowsky 1994). The propositions highlight the expected importance of emotional intensity of a web site. The moderating influence of product involvement is also proposed. Specifically, what this work proposes is that the emotional intensity of a product site has a larger impact on attitude change under low product involvement, as opposed to moderate product involvement. Support for this reasoning can be found in the persuasion literature (Petty et al 1986). The Petty et al (1986) frame work is a dual process descriptive and predictive frame work in the area of altitude formation and change. Recently, Myers Levy and Malaviya (1999) have proposed a tri-process framework. This is in tum based on the dual process model of Petty et al. (1986). The study outlined in this paper aims to deepen the Meyers Levy and Malaviya (1999) and frame work. The propositions outlined in the model are empirically tested using a repeated measures experimental design. The emotional intensity is measured using a scale that is based on experts judgments. Using a paired comparison t-test two sites are determined to be of high and low emotional intensity. The model is tested using a repeated measures experimental design. The first independent variable Emotional Intensity of the site is manipulated. The Second independent variable, Personal Product Inventory is measured. While, the dependent variable, product altitude change will also be measured. Utilizing Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) the data is analyzed using SPSS. The results suggest that besides the rational content of messages their emotional content can also influence attitude change. Specifically, it is proposed that the manipulation of emotional intensity of a product Web site has a greater impact on product altitudes under high and low product involvement conditions, rather than moderate product involvement. However, the results for product involvement as a continuous variable has a p value of 0.09. Further, the results for three levels of product involvement were far from significant. For two levels of product involvement also, the results were insignificant, the p value approached 0.20. This evidence indicates that it is premature to conclude that there are three routes to persuasion. A caveat, however, must be added, in that the manipulations may not have been strong enough to test the proposed hypotheses. Further, undoubtedly, there is unequivocal evidence the emotional intensity of a product Web site, as measured here, has a direct impact on product attitudes.

  • Nowadays, customer-oriented manufacturing enterprises such as airplane, ship, ship engine, etc are knowledge-intensive and higher added value industries. In these companies, to quickly respond customer's order, a quotation management is a very important task. But, this task is very complex, time-consuming, resource- consuming, and difficult process because it is related with many departments within a company. In this paper, for the effective and efficient quotation management, the concept of product specification framework is introduced because a quotation BOM (bills of material) can be created from product specification. Also, this paper presents the product specification framework based quotation management process and implements the quotation management system for the ship engine division of 'H' company, one of customer-oriented manufacturing enterprises. As a result, the proposed quotation management concept reduced a lead time of drawing out quotations from $3{\sim}10$ days to 1 hour. And, the constructed quotation management system achieved a rapidity, accuracy, quality, and workload reduction of the quotation management process.

  • Rapid spread of Internet, there appear so many commercial wedsites. Websites are not only tools to advertise a company or a product, but also value-added products inself. So we need a systematic approach(planning, design, implementation) to develop a website. But existing reserches on website development have corvered only technological issues such as network and HCI(Human Computer Intercation). In this research a framework is proposed to develop a website systematically using database of existing websites. This framework is composed of several stages-target customer segmentation, determination of services on website, dtermination of business model, functinal positioning, and evaution.

A Study on the Strategic Vitalization Plan of Korean Integrated Medical Tourism

  • Objectives: As a newcomer to the medical tourism industry, Korea needs to differentiate itself from the leading competing countries to vitalize its early-stage medical tourism industry. This study aims to introduce a strategic plan to vitalize the Korean integrated medical tourism so that Korea can differentiate itself from competing countries and create high added value. Methods: The concept and actual conditions of medical tourism and Oriental medical tourism were examined. A plan to differentiate Korea from the competing countries in the medical tourism industry was studied to create high added-value through strategic vitalization of its medical tourism industry. Results: Korean integrated medical tourism must be developed differently from those of other South-East Asian countries in order to strategically promote the cash-cow medical tourism industry. In order to develop such medical tourism, Korean medical practice, which integrates Western and Oriental medicine, is to be developed through mutual understanding and fusion of other disciplines among medical doctors and Oriental medical doctors who are working in local healthcare for health promotion of local residents and disease prevention and control. This will play a key role in developing a unique medical tourism product of Korea by means of strategic alliances as an integrated medicine. Manpower specialized for integrated medicine is to be specially supplied for Oriental medicine-related business lines at city, county and borough levels, among local governments, that are enthusiastically carrying forward Oriental medical tourism with an interest to promoting more active and strategic business development and raise the effectiveness and efficiency of public health centers handling related medical tourism. Manpower specialized for Korean integrated medical tourism is to be specially supplied for the Ministry of Culture, Health and Tourism, a policy control tower to develop and vitalize high value-added fusion (theme) tourism products such as the Korean integrated medical tourism, in order to discover, promote and support Korean integrated medical tourism's differences from existing medical tourism. Conclusions: The differentiated integrated medical tourism that only Korea can offer in a variety of forms, in order to create a key area of high value-added medical tourism, should be strategically vitalized through a liaison between integrated medicine and tourism and the realization of patient-centered health care services with medical technology developed based on mutual understanding of Western and Oriental medicine.

무독화 옻 추출물 첨가 강정의 가온저장 중 품질 특성 (Quality Properties of Gangjung Added with Detoxified Stem Bark of Rhus verniciflua (RVSB) Extract during Acceleration Storage)

  • 다양한 생리활성을 지닌 무독화 옻 추출물을 첨가한 강정의 품질 특성 및 가온저장($60^{\circ}C$ , 24 시간) 중에 품질변화를 조사하였다. 무독화 옻 추출물 첨가 강정의 팽화율은 시료간의 유의적 차이는 없었으며 색도의 L값은 무독화 윷 추출물 첨가구가 대조구에 비해 높았으며 a값은 추출물 농도가 높을수록 감소하였으며 b값은 7% 첨가 시 유의적으로 높은 값을 나타냈다. 무독화 옻 추출물 첨가에 따른 강정의 저장동안 수분함량의 변화는 저장기간이 경과함에 따라 감소하였으나 추출물 첨가에 따른 유의적 차이는 없었다. 무독화 옻 추출물 첨가 강정의 경도는 저장동안 시료간의 유의적 차이가 없었으며, 피크수는 저장기간이 경과할수록 약간 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 무독화 옻 추출물 첨가 강정의 산가는 저장기간이 경과할수록 그 값이 증가하였으며 무독화 옻 추출물 5% 이상 첨가 시 저장 16시간부터 산가의 증가를 억제시켰다. 과산화물가와 TBA가는 무독화 옻 추출물 3% 이상 첨가 시 저장 12시간부터 유의적으로 그 값이 감소되었다. 이와 같은 결과 무독화 옻 추출물을 첨가한 강정은 물리적 조직감의 향상은 기대할 수 없었으나 지방의 산패를 억제하는 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 최근 소비자의 취향이 다양해지고 소비패턴이 변화하며 상품 포장디자인이 점차 발전한다는 것을 체감할 수 있다. 상품 포장디자인은 내용물을 정확하게 알 수 있게 만들어져야 하고 소비자의 눈길을 끌어 상품을 구매하고 싶도록 만드는 매력을 가지고 있어야 한다. 또한 상품디자인은 소비자들에게 시각적 효과를 유도한 그래픽 요소와 더불어 브랜드 네이밍, 패키지 레이아웃, 내용물 표현방법, 맛을 상상할 수 있는 색감 등에 따라 구매의욕을 일으켜야 한다. 상품의 포장디자인에서 내용물에 대한 이미지를 한 눈에 알 수 있게 표현한 그래픽 요소는 상품의 부가가치를 높이고 소비자의 구매동기 유발이나 유통의 합리화를 이루는 가장 핵심적인 요소라 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 축산상품에서 시각정보 메타데이터를 이용한 시각정보 심벌 이미지에 대한 연구이며 다양한 축산 포장에 대한 사례를 살펴보고 메타데이터 요소로 축산 이미지를 한 눈에 알 수 있게 표현한 그래픽 요소를 제시하여 축산상품에 활용하고자 한다. 축산 상품의 프리미엄화를 추구하고, 브랜드 가치를 높이며 차별화된 디자인 전략으로 경제적 효과와 더불어 축산 시장 활성화를 위한 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 전기안전에 대한 부가서비스 같은 저전압 전기설비의 온라인 감시시스템 구축을 위한 국내외 실태조사를 수행하였다. 일본은 미래 정보화 사회를 위해 IT 기본법에 근거한 온라인 전기설비 감시시스템 서비스를 실시하고 있으며, 전기안전뿐만 아니라 지진이나 방범등의 부가서비스를 실시하고 있었다. 미국 및 유럽에서는 전력선 통신을 사용하여, 온라인 감시 및 빌딩군 관리 서비스를 실시하고 있었다. 국내에서도 전기안전과 관련하여 디지털 수배전반 등을 통해 누설전류 측정, 부하관리 등에 대한 서비스를 일부 기업에서 서비스를 실시하고 있었다. 실태조사를 통해, 국내에서도 시장 활성화를 위한 법, 제도적 개선이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

머리부 전후방향촬영 시 방사선피폭선량 저감을 위한 부가여과판에 대한 연구 (A Study on Added Filters for Reduction of Radiation Exposure Dose in Skull A-P Projection)

  • 머리부 전후방향촬영은 종래의 증감지-필름 방사선촬영보다 디지털방사선촬영 시 입사표면선량(ESD)이 훨씬 높다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 부가필터를 사용하여 환자의 피폭선량을 줄이기 위한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 머리부 팬톰을 이용하여 머리부 전후방향촬영 시 부가여과판의 두께에 따른 선량 감소효과를 알아보았고, 동시에 부가여과판 사용에 따른 영상의 질적 저하의 평가를 위한 실험을 진행하였다. 선량측정은 머리부 팬톰을 머리부 전후방향촬영자 세로 위치시켜 입사표면선량과 투과선량을 0.1 mmAl으로부터 0.5 mmCu+2.0 mmAl까지 16종류의 부가여과판을 바꾸어 가며 측정하였다. 영상의 화질 평가를 위해서 총 17매의 영상을 촬영하였고 촬영된 영상은 영상의학과 전문의에게 평가를 의뢰하였다. 그 결과 부가여과판 중 0.2 mmCu+1.0 mmAl의 복합여과판을 사용한 부가여과판까지 진단적 가치가 있는 영상을 얻었고, 이 때 머리부 팬톰에 입사표면선량은 약 0.6 mGy이었다. 이 값은 국제원자력기구(IAEA)에서 권고하고 있는 머리부 후전방향촬영 시 입사표면선량 5 mGy의 12%에 불과하였다. 따라서 검사부위에 따라 적정한 부가여과판의 사용으로 환자의 피폭선량을 상당히 감소시키는 효과를 얻을 수 있다.
