Reliability and Validity of the Korean Version of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire to Assess Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy

  • Purpose: This study was performed to assess the reliability and validity of the Korean version of European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire - Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy 20 items (EORTC QLQ-CIPN20) in patients receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy. Methods: A convenience sample of 249 Korean cancer patients, previously or currently, being treated with peripheral neurotoxic chemotherapeutic agents were asked to fill in the questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0. Construct validity, known-group validity, concurrent validity, and internal consistency reliability of the Korean version of the QLQ-CIPN20 were evaluated. Results: Factor analysis confirmed 3 dimensions of CIPN: sensory, motor, and autonomic. The factor loadings of the 20 items on the 3 subscales ranged from .38 to .85. The 3 subscale-model was validated by confirmatory factor analysis (GFI=.90, AGFI=.86, RMSR=.05, NFI=.87, and CFI=.94), and concurrent validity was demonstrated with the EORTC QLQ-C30. Furthermore, the QLQ-CIPN20 established known-group validity. The Cronbach's alpha coefficients for internal consistency of the subscales ranged from .73 to .89. Conclusion: The Korean version of the EORTC QLQ-CIPN20 showed satisfactory construct, concurrent, and known-group validity, as well as internal reliability.

2015 개정 과학과 교육과정에 기초한 예비 물리교사를 위한 현대물리 개념 진단지 개발 및 타당화 연구 (A Study on Developing and Validating the Modern Physics Conceptual Diagnostic Survey for Pre-Service Physics Teachers based on the 2015 Revised National Science Curriculum)

  • 본 연구는 2015 개정 과학과 교육과정에 제시된 성취기준에 기초하여 현대물리 개념지식에 대한 예비 물리교사의 이해를 진단할 수 있는 개념 진단지를 개발하고 타당도와 신뢰도를 확인하였다. Messick(1995)의 분류에 따른 5가지 타당도 중 검사내용에 기초한 타당도는 일련의 전문가 내용타당도 검사로 진행하여 확인한 후 24문항의 설문용 현대물리 개념 진단지를 구성하였다. 국내 15개 사범대학의 467명의 예비 물리교사에게 개발된 현대물리 개념 진단지를 적용하여 문항의 신뢰도와 Messick(1995)의 나머지 4가지 타당도를 확인하였다. 실제에 기초한 타당도는 Rasch 모형이 적용된 통계분석방법으로 문항적합도(MNSQ)를 확인한 결과, 23문항이 적합한 수준으로 나타났다. 이중 오타가 발생한 문항을 제외한 22문항에 대하여 내적구조에 기초한 타당도 분석을 하여 개발된 현대물리 개념 진단지의 일차원성을 확인하였다. 일반화에 기초한 타당도 확인 결과에 따르면 개발된 개념 진단지가 집단특성에 대해 독립적이라고 판단된다. 양자역학 수강 여부에 따른 검사점수의 t-검증 결과, 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, 이를 외적준거에 기초한 타당도 확인으로 활용하였다. Cronbach alpha 및 Rasch 모형 분석에서의 피험자 신뢰도와 문항신뢰도 값은 검사자료가 적합한 수준의 신뢰도를 갖는다는 보여주었다. 또한 고전검사이론에 의한 문항분석 결과, 양호한 문항난이도를 보여주었으며 문항변별도는 두 문항이 준거값을 벗어났으나 다른 나머지 문항들은 양호한 값을 보여주었다. 양류상관계수는 한 문항을 제외한 나머지에 대해서 양호한 값을 나타내었다. KR-20과 Ferguson's delta 값 역시 검사지가 양호하다는 것을 보여주었다. 마지막으로 문항반응 이론에 의한 문항난이도(추정치)를 Rasch 모형 분석으로 추정하였으며, 이 값들은 피험자 집단 특성에 영향을 받지 않을 것으로 판단된다.

양생(養生) 측정 도구 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of a Tool in Measuring Yangsaeng(養生; traditional oriental health promotion; YS-TOHP))

  • Purpose: 'Yangsaeng' is a traditional health care regimen for the promotion of health and prevention of illnesses ty means of specific principles and methods for the purpose of living a long and healthy life. The purpose of this paper was to develop a tool in measuring Yangsaeng and to verify its reliability and validity. Method: Content validity was conducted three times by 8 experts. Factor analysis was conducted to test its construct validity. Result: Thirty-one items were selected in 8 factors; Morality Yangsaeng, Mind Yangsaeng, Diet Yangsaeng, Activity & rest Yangsaeng, Exercise Yangsaeng, Seasonal Yangsaeng, Sleep Yangsaeng and Sex life Yangsaeng. The explanatory variance is 61.76%. Cronbach's alpha of the final tool is .89 and that of each factor is .68~.82. The analysis of the items shows that the item-total correlation is .40 or higher. Criterion-related validity was verified with the CMCHS V1.0 and the KoHSME V1.0. Conclusion: Since the tool developed in this study was verified in terms of its reliability and validity, it could be utilized as a tool for evaluating the extent of Yangsaeng.

한국 암 특이형 삶의 질 측정도구(C-QOL) 개발 및 평가 (Development and Psychometric Evaluation of a Quality of Life Scale for Korean Patients with Cancer(C-QOL))

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a quality of life scale for Korean patients with cancer (C-QOL). Methods: The C-QOL was developed and validated as follows, item generation, pilot study, and psychometric tests. A total of 337 patients diagnosed with stomach, liver, lung, colon, breast, or cervix cancer were recruited. The patients were asked to complete the preliminary questionnaire comprising the content-validated items, the SF-36, and the ECOG performance status. The obtained data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, multidimensional scaling (MDS), multitrait/multi-item matrix, ANOVA, t-test, and Cronbach's alpha. Results: Preliminarily twenty-six items were generated through content validity and a pilot study. Factor analysis and MDS extracted a total of 21 items with a 5-point Likert-type scale (C-QOL). The C-QOL included five subscales: physical status (6 items), emotional status (6 items), social function (3 items), concern status (2 items), and coping function (4 items). The C-QOL established content validity, construct validity, item convergent and discriminant validity, known-groups validity, reliability, and sensitivity. Conclusion: The Newly developed C-QOL is an easily applicable instrument which established psychometric properties and reflected Korean culture. It is recommended for further study to examine the responsiveness of the C-QOL using a longitudinal research design.

Which CDM methodology is the best option? A case study of CDM business on S-Water treatment plant

  • Clean development mechanism (CDM) validity study was conducted to suggest better and more adaptable CDM scenario on water treatment plant (WTP). Potential four scenarios for CDM project; improvement of intake pumping efficiency, hydro power plant construction, solar panel construction and system optimization of mechanical mixing process were evaluated on S-WTP in Korea. Net present value (NPV) of each scenario was estimated based on sensitivity analysis with the variable factors to investigate the CDM validity percentile. Hydro power plant construction was the best option for CDM business with 97.76% validity and $1,127,069 mean profit by 9,813 $tonsCO_2e$/yr reduction. CDM validity on improvement of intake pumping efficiency was 90.2% with $124,305 mean profit by huge amount of $CO_2$ mitigation (10,347 $tonsCO_2e$/yr). System optimization of mechanical mixing process reduced 15% of energy consumption (3,184 $tonsCO_2e$/yr) and its CDM validity and mean profit was 77.25% and $23,942, respectively. Solar panel construction could make the effect of 14,094 $tonsCO_2$ mitigation annually and its CDM validity and mean profit was 64.68% and $228,487, respectively.

가족부담감 측정도구의 신뢰도와 타당도 (The Reliability and Validity of Family Burden Questionnaire)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to test the reliability and validity of Family Burden Questionnaire. Method: The subjects were 156 caregivers of children with acute or chronic disease. To test the reliability, internal consistency using Cronbach's α coefficient was analyzed, and factor analysis, known-group technique, and concurrent validity were utilized for validity test. Result: Cronbach's α coefficient of the tool was .89. Six factors were identified and explained 58.7% of the total variance. Through analysis using known-group technique, the difference of family burden between acute and chronic disease groups was statistically significant(t= -4.09, p<.001). Correlations with mood state, other family burden score by Family Burden Interview Schedule, quality of life, and health symptoms were also relatively high and statistically significant. Conclusion: Family Burden Questionnaire showed a relatively high validity and reliability to measure the burden of caregivers caring patients with various chronic conditions in Korea. For the further study, it may be reconsidered to identify the factor structure of the Family Burden Questionnaire with the various subjects from different age groups.

한국어판 아동학대 잠재성 도구의 신뢰도와 타당도 검증 (Reliability and Validity of Korean Version of the Child Abuse Potential Inventory)

  • Purpose: This study presents methodological research that aimed to verify the content validity, construct validity, reliability, and criterion-related validity of the Child Abuse Potential Inventory (CAPI), originally developed by Milner and then translated into Korean by Ahn. Methods: Data used in this study were collected from 209 mothers of infants, toddlers, and children of preschool age in D metropolitan city. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 24. Results: The Korean version of the Child Abuse Potential Inventory (K-CAPI) was developed by condensing 44 of the original 77 CAPI items. Four factors of K-CAPI were extracted using principal component analysis. These 4 factors-distress; problems with child, self, family, and others; unhappiness; rigidity-accounted for 54.01% of variance. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .96, the Guttman split-half coefficient was .88, and test-retest reliability was r=.86 (p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study established the reliability and validity of the K-CAPI and found it to be an appropriate tool to evaluate mothers' potential to abuse their children.

긍정 간호조직문화 측정도구 개발 (Development of a Positive Nursing Organizational Culture Measurement Tool)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a measurement tool for a positive nursing organizational culture and to verify its reliability and validity. Methods: A conceptual framework and construct factors were extracted through an extensive literature review and in-depth interviews with nurses. The final version of the preliminary tool for the main survey was confirmed by experts through a content validity test and a preliminary survey of 40 nurses. Subsequently, the final tool was developed using a validity and reliability test containing 43 preliminary items. The final version of the tool was used with 327 hospital nurses in the testing phase for the main survey to assess validity and reliability. Results: From the factor analysis, 4 factors and 26 items were selected. The factors were positive leadership of the nursing unit manager, pursuit of common values, formation of organizational relationships based on trust, and a fair management system. The entire determination coefficient was 67.7%. These factors were verified through convergent, discriminant, and concurrent validity testing. The internal consistency reliability was acceptable (Cronbach's α = .95). Conclusion: Both the validity and reliability of the scale were confirmed demonstrating its utility for measuring positive nursing organizational culture. It is expected to be used for education, research, and practical performance policies regarding the nursing organizational culture.

병원 간호사의 침묵 행위 측정도구 개발 (Development of the Hospital Nurses' Silence Behavior Scale)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a scale to measure hospital nurses' silence behavior and examine its validity and reliability. Methods: A total of 52 preliminary items on hospital nurses' silence behavior were selected using a content validity test by seven experts on 53 candidate items derived from a literature review and in-depth interviews with 14 nurses. A total of 405 hospital nurses participated in a psychometric testing. Data analysis comprised item analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and convergent and discriminant validity tests. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used for assessing concurrent validity, and Cronbach's alpha was used for the reliability test. Results: The final scale consisted of nine factors with 31 items, exhibiting acceptable model fit indices, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. The score of the entire scale was positively correlated with the 'Organizational Silence Scale (OSS)-the issues on which nurses remain silent' (r = .60, p < .001) and 'OSS-the reasons why nurses remain silent' (r = .68, p < .001). Cronbach's α of the scale was .92, and α of each subscale ranged from .71 to .90. Conclusion: The Hospital Nurses' Silence Behavior Scale is a useful tool for assessing multifaceted silence behavior among nurses. It can provide basic data for developing better communication strategies among nurses and other hospital staff.

한국판 외상 후 스트레스 장애에 대한 태도와 지식 측정도구(K-PTSD)의 타당도와 신뢰도 (Validity and Reliability of Korean Version of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Scale (K-PTSD) Measuring Attitudes and Knowledge of PTSD)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the PTSD scale (K-PTSD) for measuring attitudes and knowledge of PTSD. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was used. The K-PTSD scale consisted of 8 items for attitudes, 8 items for general knowledge of PTSD, and 3 items for knowledge of PTSD treatment; 211 nursing students and paramedic students participated. Content validity, item analysis, and factor analysis were used to examine the construct validity. Criterion validity was tested by using educational experience with PTSD as a criterion. Cronbach's α was used to identify internal consistency reliability in the attitude scale. Results: Construct validity of the K-PTSD was verified by exploratory factor analysis, with factor loadings for attitude ranging from .59 to .84. Criterion validity in comparing knowledge of PTSD (t=2.02, p=.044) and PTSD treatment (t=3.19, p=.022) showed a significant difference according to PTSD educational experience. Cronbach's α for the attitude scale was .79 and .59. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the K-PTSD is a valid and reliable tool that can measure attitudes and knowledge of PTSD among nursing and paramedic students. However, further study is needed to retest the verification of this scale with more diverse participants.
