삶의 공간으로서의 웹 사이트에 대한 평가 체계 (A Comprehensive Evaluation Framework of Web Sites as Living Places in Cyber Space)

  • With a swift development of information technology, web sites get more important roles as user's living places. This quantitative and qualitative expansion of web sites requires the need for an evaluation framework of web sites from comprehensive perspectives. This study proposes two dimensions for web site categorization and three dimensions for web site evaluation. These dimensions were developed based on the architectural perspectives that have been used to evaluate buildings in the real world for more than a thousand years. First, in order to categorize various web sites, we extracted two dimensions, user's goals and user's behaviors from behavioral architect which approaches user's behaviors in designing buildings. Second, in order to evaluate four web sites groups, we suggested three dimensions, which are firmness, commodity, delight used in evaluating buildings in the real world. Then for each of the four different web sites groups an empirical survey was conducted to verify these three dimensions of architectural metrics. This ends with study implications and limitations.

Emotional Correlation Test from Binary Gender Perspective using Kansei Engineering Approach on IVML Prototype

  • This study examines the response of users' feelings from a gender perspective toward interactive video mobile learning (IVML). An IVML prototype was developed for the Android platform allowing users to install and make use of the app for m-learning purposes. This study aims to measure the level of feelings toward the IVML prototype and examine the differences in gender perspectives, identify the most responsive feelings between male, and female users as prominent feelings and measure the correlation between user-friendly feeling traits as an independent variable in accordance with gender attributes. The feelings response could then be extracted from the user experience, user interface, and human-computer interaction based on gender perspectives using the Kansei engineering approach as the measurement method. The statistical results demonstrated the different emotional reactions from a male and female perspective toward the IVML prototype may or may not have a correlation with the user-friendly trait, perhaps having a similar emotional response from one to another.

  • New internet trend, such as Web 2.0, has brought about new roles of users and changes in the web ecosystem. In the age of information overload like nowadays, activities in the brand community sites help to make more reasonable decisions in choosing certain brands and products. In order to examine organizational strategic aspects of brand community, this study examine (1) what difference exists in user satisfaction according to the brand community types (the user-initiated type and the corporate-established type), and (2) which dimensions of service quality affect brand community users' satisfaction. Research findings show that types of brand community influence perceived user satisfaction, and tangibility, reliability, interactivity, and stability dimensions of service quality make a positive influence on user satisfaction as well. Practical implications for managing brand community sites in marketing perspectives are further discussed.

  • Assessing user information requirements is one of the most important issues in building Executive Information Systems. Application of the Balanced Score Card method as a tool for strategic planning and performance measurement has been increasing recently in various fields. However there has been meager attempt to apply the method to user requirement analysis, in particular, for small and medium sized companies. This study surveyed 79 executives of small and medium sized companies in Korea. The study founds the applicability of BSC for analyzing user requirements of EIS, in terms of financial, customer, internal process, learning and growth perspectives. The paper also suggested several guidelines for using BSC to improve user satisfaction to the practitioners who are operating or planning to build EIS in the small and medium sized companies.

초고속인터넷 서비스품질에 대한 이용자 불만도 조사연구 (User Dissatisfaction on the High-Speed Internet Service Quality)

  • The growth of Internet usage even accelerated by the spread of high-speed Internet access network such as ADSI is affecting our socioeconomic activities and culture in a great way. Korea is recently reported to be the number one high-speed Internet network subscription per 100 people in the world. In a way to reflect this situation, we collect a moderate size of sample proportional to the population of each region across country and investigate what factors might explain the level of user's dissatisfaction with respect to Internet service they have been receiving. The results indicate that the set of gender, age, Internet usage, service kinds, incoming e-mails, and e-shopping is significantly influencing user's dissatisfaction, in that dissatisfaction is measured in 11 perspectives. In particular, user's age, gender, and e-shopping experiences are considered to be mostly explainable.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 웹사이트의 품질, 특히, 인터페이스의 품질을 ‘사용자의 관점’에서 체계적으로 평가 해 보고자 하는데 있다. 이를 위해, 이 연구에서는 사용자의 관점을 중시한 인터페이스의 평가기준을 개발하고, 이 평가기준에 의거하여 한국과학재단 21개 전문연구정보센터의 웹사이트 인터페이스를 평가하였다. 이 연구에서는 특히, 사용자들이 이들 웹사이트의 인터페이스에 대해 가지고 있는 불만의 사례와 요인을 면밀히 조사하였으며, 이러한 불만을 해소하기 위한 개선 방안을 제시하였다

  • The purpose of this paper is to study user's involvement in new product development (NPD). It seeks to identify the factors involving user and design practices in the design process of new product development. A survey was conducted on 20 respondents consisting of designers involved in product development from various industries. The study focused on the early activities of the product design process which is called product specification. The analysis performed considers the importance of involving users in design decision. The outcome of this research is the significance of involving users and its effect on product development activities. The research also provides a model for an integrated user, designer and product knowledge activity in the product development process.

대학도서관 이용교육 연구의 동향과 논점 (User Education in Academic Libraries : Research Trends and Issues)

  • 대학도서관 이용교육 분야는 오랜 기간 동안 매우 관심 있게 다루어져 왔으며, 그 변화의 양상 또한 괄목할 만하다. 특히 최근에는 관련연구의 생산도 증가하고 있다. 이 글은 최근에 생산된 대학도서관 이용교육 분야 연구의 동향을 분석함으로써 관련연구의 경향과 논지의 방향성을 재고하고자 하였다. 관련연구들을 중심으로 대학교육의 본질과 대학도서관 이용교육의 내용과 동향을 분석하였으며, 대학도서관 봉사의 본질로서의 독서효율에 대한 관심이 중요하다는 점을 지적하였다. 또한 대학교육의 비판적 기능, 도서관 이용교육과 독서 및 도서관 이용 문제, 그리고 대학도서관 교육의 정치적 측면에 대한 제안이 결론적으로 제시되었다.

An NLP-based Mixed-method Approach to Explore the Impact of Gratifications and Emotions on the Acceptance of Amazon Go

  • Amazon Go is a cashierless convenience store concept, which is seen as a disruption in the grocery retail segment. Although Amazon Go has the ability to disrupt the retail segment, there are speculations on how Amazon Go will be perceived by users. Existing studies have not utilized user-generated content to understand the factors that affect customer behaviour in case of Amazon Go. Additionally, in case of phygital retail, studies have not attempted at understanding the effect of emotions and gratifications on user behaviour. To address the gap of exploring user perspectives based on their experience, we have examined the impact of gratifications and emotions on the acceptance of phygital retail using user-generated-content. A mixed-method approach has been utilized using only user-generated content. Utilizing topic-modelling based content analysis and emotion analysis on 30 articles related to Amazon Go, we found themes like, convenience, technology, experience, personalization, enjoyment and emotions like, bad, good, annoyance, success. In the empirical analysis, we have utilized 522 reviews about Amazon Go from the cognition and emotion theory stance, and found that hedonic gratifications have a positive impact on challenge emotions. We also found a significant impact of emotions on customer's favourite behaviour.

다자 중심적 사용성 평가 방법의 구조화 과정 (The Structuring Process of Multi‐Centered Usability Evaluation Method)

  • In order to minimize a biased view of evaluators in usability test, a multiple evaluation method so called Multi-Centered Usability Evaluation Method(MCUEM) was suggested and structured in this study. To use MCUEM, the existing evaluation methods were re-categorized into 'developer and evaluator-centered', 'evaluator-centered', 'user-centered', 'evaluator and user-centered', and the 'developer, evaluator, and user-centered methods. Furthermore, in order to verify the relevance of MCUEM, the usability of mobile phone was tested in this study. In results, it was found that different evaluation methods generated greatly different results, that showed the risk of using a particular usability method due to different perspectives of evaluators. At the same time, it was found that MCUEM could greatly minimize such biases. Therefore, it was concluded that using MCUEM could help the usability engineer design a test protocol with a minimal risk of bias due to different perspective of evaluators.
