  • Making use of mobile in the education field with international providing of iPod, iPhone and the rapid growth of information oriented society suggest lots of ideas in the aspect of method of education. Using the various technology of iPod and iPhone leads to change of teaching method because iPod and iPhone supports lots of skills of teaching which is student-centered is gradually supplying to students. Furthermore, Not only the development of various mobile contents can be materialized in iPod circumstance is processing in information-communication field of Korea, but also a recognition of people about iPod and iPhone is changing positively. Along this change, it expects to using of iPod and iPhone for teaching methods in school will affect to the education effectively and promote the quality of education. So, this study was focused on the development application for using iPod and iPhone in each subjects of Society and Science according to this features of changes with expecting the educational effect accompanied by using iPod and iPhone and searched the previous examples of using mobile application.

Supporting Media using XML-based Messages on Online Conversational Activity (온라인 대화 행위에서 XML 기반 메시지를 이용한 미디어 지원)

  • This paper proposes how to support various media on online conversational activity using XML(extensible Markup Language). The method converts media information into XML based messages and handles alike conventional text based messages. The XML based messages are unified to an XML document, and then a HTML document is generated using the XML and an XSLT documents in a server. A user in each client can play or present media through the hyperlink that is associated media information on the HTML document. The suggested method supports use of various media (text, image, audio, video, documents, etc) and efficient maintenance of font size, color, and style on messages according to extension and modification of XML tags. For application, this paper implemented the system to support media that has client and server architecture on online conversational activity. A user in each client inputs text or media based message using JAVA applet and servlet on the system, and conversational messages on every users' interfaces are automatically updated whenever a user inputs new message. Media on conversational messages are played or presented according to a user's click on hyperlink. Applications for the media presentation are as follows : distance learning, online game, collaboration, etc.

  • The purpose of this article is improving the PR System of the Disaster Management. For achieving the purpose, this article deals with Monthly Publication of the Disaster Analysis & Prospect pressed by the NEMA and DHS TODAY pressed by the DHS and use to contents analysis as methodology. This study selects sorts, management steps, and learning of disaster which are useful in analyzing contents by the krkwic program. This study suggests how to improve PR System of disaster management focusing on contents of the PR media.

  • Criticality prediction models to identify most fault-prone modules in the system early in the software development process help in allocation of resources and foster software quality improvement. Many models for identifying fault-prone modules using design complexity metrics have been suggested, but most of them are training models that need training data set. Most organizations cannot use these models because very few organizations have their own training data. This paper builds a prediction model based on a well-known supervised learning model, error backpropagation neural net, using design metrics quantifying SDL system specifications. To solve the problem of other models, this model is trained by generated virtual training data set. Some simulation studies have been performed to investigate feasibility of this model, and the results show that suggested model can be an alternative for the organizations without real training data to predict their software qualities.

Investigation of elementary teachers' perspectives on science inquiry teaching (과학 탐구 지도에 대한 초등학교 교사들의 인식 조사)

  • This study explored elementary school teachers' perspectives on science inquiry teaching. First, an open-ended questionnaire was administered to elicit teachers' experiences of their approach to inquiry teaching. These self-reported approaches revealed three conceptions of teaching for inquiry learning in science: 'science process skills-centered' category focused on observing, classifying, measuring, and fair testing; 'generating scientific questions' category focused on students' question-generating; and 'illustrate concept and/or content' category focused on science content demonstration by making use of experimental procedures to obtain expected results. Second, teachers were asked to place 18 activity cards either close to or further from an 'inquiry-based science classroom' card. The relative distances from the activity card to the central classroom card were measured. The teachers perceived that students' activity of 'designing and implementing appropriate procedures' was the most important in supporting an inquiry-based science classroom. Understanding teachers' views has implications for both the enactment of inquiry teaching in the classroom as well as the uptake of new teaching behaviors during professional development.

A tunnel back analysis using artificial neural network technique and face mapping data (인공신경망 기법과 굴진면 관찰자료를 활용한 터널 역해석 연구)

  • Considerable uncertainties are included in ground properties used for tunnel designs due to the limited investigation and tests. In this study, a back analysis was performed to find optimal ground properties based on artificial neural network using both face mapping data and convergence measurement data. First of all, the rock class of a study tunnel is determined from face mapping data. Then the possible ranges of ground properties were selected for each rock class through a literature review on the previous studies and utilized to establish more precise learning data. To find an optimal training model, a sensitivity analysis was also conducted by varying the number of hidden layers and the number of nodes more minutely than the previous study. As a result of this study, more accurate ground properties could be obtained. Therefore it was confirmed that the accuracy of the results could be increased by making use of not only convergence measurement data but also face mapping data in tunnel back analyses using artificial neural network. In future, it is expected that the methodology suggested in this study can be used to estimate ground properties more precisely.

Classification of Query E-Mail Using Neural Network (신경망을 이용한 사용자 질의 전자 메일 분류)

  • More and more users are using the query e-mail according to the increment of use of internet. The operator of internet site desires the users to check the FAQ and Q&A contents first before sending the query e-mail to the operator However the users try to get the solution for a problem easily by simply sending a query e-mail. Therefore the increment of query e-mail is inevitable, and the site operator is suffering from too heavy loads and spending too much time and cost to reply the query e-mail. In this paper, we are proposing an efficient method of classifying the query e-mail of users automatically by using a neural network. To verify the reasonability of our work, the query e-mails of KORNET are used as the test data, which is actually gathered in KT. A total of 210 learning data and 280 test data were used to test the performance of the proposed approach. From the experiments we got the encouraging result from the view point of application in real life. The proposed approach satisfied the request of users who wanted rapid response for their query e-mail.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the cliche for English-Korean interpretation and translation training with special reference to the cliche based on Shakespeare's works texts. The term of 'idioms' are generally used as figurative expressions instead of the term of 'cliche'. Thus, cliches must be reinterpreted in the lexicon that are used in useful expressions. Cliches are often idioms. Idioms are figurative phrases with an implied meaning; the phrase is not to be taken literally. This causes difficulty when translating to another language because the meaning may not be understood by people within that culture. Cliches are figurative or literal expressions and are overused expressions. Consequently, the cliches are distinguished from the idioms by the transparent meanings. This study was examined based on the cliches shown in Shakespeare's works texts. After all, anyone who wants to become an efficient English learners, interpretor and translator should be familiar with cliches. They had better use the cliche in English learning site. I hope this study will be helpful even a bit to his attempt.

  • As the regulations of ship exhaust gas have been strengthened recently, many measures are under consideration to reduce fuel consumption. Among them, research has been performed actively to develop a machine-learning model that predicts fuel consumption by using data collected from ships. However, many studies have not considered the methodology of the main parameter selection for the model or the processing of the collected data sufficiently, and the reckless use of data may cause problems such as multicollinearity between variables. In this study, we propose a method to predict the fuel consumption of the ship by using the principal component analysis to solve these problems. The principal component analysis was performed on the operational data of the 13K TEU container ship and the fuel consumption prediction model was implemented by regression analysis with extracted components. As the R-squared value of the model for the test data was 82.99%, this model would be expected to support the decision-making of operators in the voyage planning and contribute to the monitoring of energy-efficient operation of ships during voyages.
