Students have to effectively get lots of knowledge and technique for practical education. Usability is one of the most important factors that have to be considered for user-centered design. Students who study design have to recognize the importance of usability and learn the method of problem solving considering usability. For this, the application of project-based and participatory learning for usability education was studied. Study team was organized including graduate, undergraduate, and high school students. Students team identified a research topic, and then studied the topic. Usability evaluation and design improvement was performed in this study. Students could learn usablity evaluation method and design method through the process.

This study was conducted for the purpose of improving the usability of the product through the usability evaluation of the voice tag reader to improve the life convenience of the visually impaired. Perceived usability evaluation was conducted for 19 evaluation items based on the evaluation model considering the usability principle and the characteristics of the visually impaired. A total of 50 participants were included for the analysis. As a result of the perceived usability evaluation of the visually impaired, the safety of the voice tag reader, voice and sound quality, and accuracy of voice information were relatively satisfactory. It was found that the reader received a low evaluation in terms of efficiency in use, including the size and weight of the reader, and the convenience of carrying and storing. For the usability improvement, the procedure for using a product needs to be more simplified, and it would be helpful to input and supply tags for commonly used objects in advance.

In this study, anthropometric analysis and usability evaluation for four-wheeled walker were carried out and then ergonomics design guidelines were proposed. In anthropometric analysis, design factors of four-wheeled walker were firstly identified and anthropometric design guidelines were made using Korean human scales. Design suitability for two typical four-wheeled walkers was analyzed in based on anthropometric design guidelines. Usability evaluation for two typical walkers was also performed through observation method and expert evaluation. Several usability problems were identified and design solutions were proposed for the design improvement of four-wheeled walker. Finally a design model of four wheeled walker considering analysis results was proposed.

As the propagation of smart devices has increased and the variety of the devices also has been diversified, various existing functions are concentrated on these smart devices. One of the phenomena is that the paper-book market has partially transferred into an e-Book market. As the demand of the e-Book has increased over time, the improvement of the types of e-Book on the market can be observed. In this study, the usability evaluation on the interface of the e-Book viewer for the types of application, which can be installed in the smart devices, has been conducted. The items for the usability evaluation of the e-Book were defined, the usage patterns were observed objectively and a questionnaire technique was applied. By analyzing the usability evaluation of e-Book interface, the directions for production and improvement of e-Books have been suggested.

With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, startups are leading the proliferation of logistics in life services in countries across the world. Logistics in life startups aim to differentiate themselves for traditional logistics companies by offering customized services that penetrate niche logistics market and enhance customer convenience and satisfaction. Through the development of mobile applications(apps) and platform a variety of life-enhancing services are becoming increasingly available to customers, such as on-demand, online-to-offline, convenience, reverse logistics, as well as last-mile delivery. In particular, logistics in life services are expanding into areas that include food delivery, home moving, cargo transport, laundry delivery, car washing, and car repair. In order for the logistics in life startups to succeed, they needs to offer highly usable apps to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty. Due to the nature of mobile phones, different evaluation criteria than those for websits should be used to determine the usability of apps. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usability of representative Korean logistics in life apps through usability testing, discuss implications and offer improvement recommendations. Finally, the best Korean logistics app is compared with a top ranked app on Google Play for benchmarking purposes.

Archives should provide a web-based archival information service with good usability based on the understanding of users' needs. Thus, this study analyzed the usability of the National Archives of Korea (NAK) website's search service through expert and usability evaluations for various users and suggested improvement plans. A literature review, heuristic evaluation, one of the usability expert evaluation methods, and usability evaluation for users were performed. As a result of expert evaluation, the severity rating for the usability problem was highest regarding a match between the system and real world and the lowest in error prevention. In the usability evaluation, it was assumed that the user's background and whether the website's help was provided is associated with usability. Usability evaluation was conducted for 22 participants, including those majoring in records management, web/application developers, and people without such backgrounds. Furthermore, a presurvey, a five-second test, and search tasks were conducted in a row. The analysis based on usability components in ISO 9241-11: 2018, i.e., effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction, showed that web/application developers had the highest search effectiveness, and those majoring in records management showed high effectiveness only in the search for archival content services. Background factors did not affect efficiency, and the more familiar with the finding aids, the better the efficiency. Moreover, providing the website's help was found to be positively associated with effectiveness and satisfaction. This study suggests that the NAK website will offer a user-friendly interface and search function, expand help support, and display a consistent web interface.

With the huge tendency of users toward online web sites, many issues regarding the user behavior interacting with these websites are yet still underestimated and not addressed in all aspects from software developers or business organizations. In this paper, we solely focus on the usability analysis of social network websites to enhance and improve the use of these social websites for more effective and motivational interaction. We use T-Model procedure as a mechanism of this research. Subjects with variation of expertise are contributed to the research of this paper. Minor quantitative analysis will be employed to test the hypothetical of this research in the further research. Result and its implications will be discussed profoundly at the end of this research.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usability of the care robots to prevent pressure injury and to present directions for improvement. Thirty-two caregivers of severely disabled people and older adults with mobility difficulties participated in this study. They used the care robot in a real care environment for 2 weeks and conducted pre and post-care interviews. Based on the interview results, improvements were derived through the technical modeling method of care robots. Considering the circumstances in which caregivers take care of a large number of patients in nursing homes and hospitals, it is necessary to ensure the convenience and safety of remote control and side rail operation of the care robots to prevent pressure injury. We expect that the results of this study will be used as basic data for development of care robots to prevent pressure injury.

Smart home in the 4th industrial revolution environment is where all devices in the home are connected to each other to provide the optimal living environment desired by the user. Artificial intelligence speakers are being used as a way to manage and control all devices used in this environment. The function of an artificial intelligence speaker ranges from simple music playback to serving as an interface that controls and manages all devices in a smart home space. In this study, we investigated and analyzed the usability of artificial intelligence speakers based on the current status of domestic and overseas markets and the survey contents of two organizations (Korea Consumer Agency and Korea Information and Communication Policy Institute (KISDI)). In addition, we investigated and analyzed the usability of artificial intelligence speakers. Based on the results of responses from users from two related organizations, major problems were derived, and major improvement measures, such as discovering new functions and improving voice recognition performance, were also described.
