Recently climate change and urbananization have been increased surface runoff, resulting in flooding. Retention basins have been constructed to control urban flooding by reducing peak flow rate. Recently, the retention basin plays a role in controlling combined sewer overflows (CSOs) as well as urban flooding. In this study, the retention basin with a rotatable bucket was suggested and scale down experiments was performed for the optimum design of the retention basin. Scaled down model was produced using a 3D printer after it was designed as law of similarity. Two times for operating a rotary bucket is required to sweep out the sediments deposited on the bottom of the basin. Optimized dimensions for the retention basin were width of 5 m, height of 5 m, bucket radius of 0.5 m, and bottom slope of 5.0 %. It can be concluded that the results obtained from this study can be used to design the retention basin with a rotatable bucket which does not require energy to operate.
The runoff from an urban catchment is increased because of the gravitation of the population towards cities. For this reason, water level increment in confluence area makes it impossible to drain internal water and thus produces flood out in upstream areas. In this study, flow variations of main channel are measured which is caused by combining storm sewer into main channel in small watershed. Depth increment in main stream is analyzed due to flowrate and slope in main channel and flowrate, slope is getting steeper, and also due to low flowrate in main stream and high flowrate in tributrary channel. For the degree of confluence, depth ratio decreases when the degree is getting small. As mentioned above, main factors influencing the depth ratio increment of confluence channel are in the order of the degree of confluence, and the flowrate of tributary channel and main channel.
The size of minimum order stream has a very sensitive effect on runoff analysis model using the divergence characteristic of stream. Therefore, in this study, the threshold area of minimum order stream has been examined the change characteristic of topographical parameters. The subject basin of the research was the upper basin of the Kumho water gage station which is located in the middle of the Kumho river. The 1:25,000 numerical geography which was constructed $10{\times}10m$ mesh was used. The range of investigation of topographical parameters are number of stream order, length, area, slope, basin relief, sinuosity ratio, drainage density and total stream length etc. It was found from the result of analysis that the threshold value of minimum order stream has a very big effect on topographical parameters of basin. It was found that the threshold area of minimum ord er stream revealed under $0.10km^{2}.$ Furthermore, the parameters showed a serious change except for over $0.10km^{2}.$
This study used SCS-CN method to estimate the real recharge of the study area which is one of the most reasonable techniques to estimate groundwater recharge when there is no available runoff data in a watershed. From the results of tile real recharge analysis for the study area using SCS-CN method, it was analyzed that the year 1994 when the drought was severe shotted the lowest recharge of 106.3mm with recharge rate of 12.4%, and the highest recharge of 285.6mm with recharge rate of 21.8% occurred in 1990. Yearly average recharge of 213.2mm was obtained, and tile average recharge rate was 16.9%/year. KOG-FLOW model which has powerful post process functions consists of setting environments for input parameters in Korean language, and help function is added to each input data. Detailed information for each parameter is displayed when the icon is placed on the input parameters, and geologic boundaries or initial head data for each layer can be set easily on work sheet. The relative errors (R. E.) for each model's observed values and calculated values are $0.156{\sim}0.432$ in case of KOG-FLOW, and $0.451{\sim}1.175$ in case of WINFLOW, therefore it is known that KOG-FLOW model developed in this study produced results compared to observed head values.
The increase in impervious surfaces due to urban development has caused a groundwater drawdown through the reduction of underground infiltration, flood disaster due to increased rainfall runoff and environmental pollution in higher pollutant concentrations of first flush rainwater. As an alternative to these problems, the needs of low impact development (LID) techniques is increasing in urban areas. In this study, the restoration efficiency of water cycle was assessed at a residential site development applied with the LID rainwater management system. The results of monitoring the water cycling showed that the efficiency of water cycle of LID rainwater management system was improved 41% more than that of conventional methods.

This paper discusses several topics associated with the densification caused by supertall buildings and their impact on city systems. The paper covers five key areas where a supertall tower creates a concentration of needs and effects. First, the paper comments on population shifts towards the city and how they affect carbon footprint, utilities infrastructure and transport. The effect of single- and mixed-use towers is discussed in the context of population density. The second section brings the issues of transit, accessibility and master planning into focus. The use and criticality of public transport, cycling and walking is described. Servicing and deliveries using freight consolidation and shared systems is also discussed along with their contribution to the culture of sustainable travel. In the third section the paper reflects on supertall buildings' below-ground utilities and drainage provision, particularly the challenges faced in established city infrastructures. The utilities issues associated with supertall concentration (in land-use terms) compared to equivalent low-rise distribution is also commented on in the context of surface water runoff. In the fourth section, the topic of supertall sustainability is discussed and how city systems need to respond to create desirable and affordable space for occupiers. The changing need for vertical communities, 'stacked neighbourhoods' and the notion of a micro-city is described. Finally, the paper considers the energy consumption and resilience of supertall buildings in the context of basic geometry, façade design, climate and mixed-use benefits as they impact city systems.
This Study is to develop the suitable hydrologic models for determination of the size and location of detention storage facilities to restrain stormwater runoff in urban areas. Hypothetical areas of two levels are considered to seize the hydrologic response characteristics. A one-square-kilometer ares is selected for the catchment level, and a 10-square-kilometer area consisting of 10 catchments is adapted at the watershed level as representative of urban drainage area. In this analysis, different rainfall freqyencies, land uses, drainage patte군, basin shates and detention storage policies are considered. Folw reduction effect of detention storage facilities is deduced from storage ratio and detention basin factor. A substantial saving in detention storage volumes is achieved 노두 the detention storage is planned at the watershed level rather than the catchment level. For the application of real watersheds, two watersheds in Seoul metropolitan area-Jamshil 2 and Seongnae 1-are selected on the basis of hydrologic response charactaristics. Through the regression analysis between dimensionless deterntion storage volume, dimensionless upstream area ratio and reduction rate of storage ratio, the regression equations to determine the size and location of detention storage faclities are presented.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the hydrological impact due to temporal land cover change by gradual urbanization of upstream watershed of Pyeongtaek gauging station of Anseong-cheon. WMS HEC-1 was adopted, and OEM with 200 m resolution and hydrologic soil group from 1:50,000 scale soil map were prepared. Land covers of 1986, 1990, 1994 and 1999 Landsat TM images were classified by maximum likelihood method. The watershed showed a trend that forest & paddy areas decreased and urban/residential area gradually increased during the four selected years. The model was calibrated at 2 locations (Pyeonglaek and Gongdo) by comparing observed with simulated discharge results for 5 summer storm events from 1998 to 2001. The watershed average CN values varied from 61.7 to 62.3 for the 4 selected years. To identify the impact of streamflow by temporal area change of a target land use, a simple evaluation method that the CN values of areas except the target land use are unified as one representative CN value was suggested. By applying the method, watershed average CN value was affected in the order of paddy, forest and urban/residential, respectively.

In recent years, urban floods have become more frequent, causing significant harm to society and resulting in substantial losses to the national economy and people's lives and property. To assess the impact of floods on people's safety and property in Seoul, annual precipitation data from 1980 to 2020 was analyzed for return periods of 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 years. A rainfall runoff simulation model for Seoul was established using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS models. The study revealed that at a 5-year return period, water began to accumulate in Seoul, but it was not severe. However, at a 10-year return period, the water accumulation was relatively serious, and inundation began to occur. At a 20-year return period, there was serious water accumulation and inundation in Seoul. During a 50-year return period, Seoul suffered from severe inundation in commercial areas, resulting in substantial losses to the local economy. The findings indicate that Seoul City faces high flood risks, and measures should be taken to mitigate the impact of floods on the city's residents and economy.

Nature-based solutions (NBS) involved conservation or rehabilitation of natural ecosystems or the creation of natural processes in modified or artificial ecosystems to mimic natural processes for the improved management of water (UN-Water, 2018). This study investigated the relationship between microbial presence and survival to the pollutant treatment performance of seven different stormwater NBS managing urban stormwater runoff. In this study, seven different stormwater nature-based solution (NBS) was investigated to identify the relationship of microbial community to the pollutant removal performance of stormwater NBS. Based on this study, Proteobacteria was found to be the most dominant microorganism for all stormwater NBS and IS followed by Acidobacteria and Actinobacteria. Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Gemmatimonadetes, WS3, and AF234118_p were found to have high positive correlation to most pollutant removal efficiency of different stormwater NBS (r-value: 0.62 to 0.68). Using Proteobacteria and Acidobacteria count in stormwater NBS, equations predicting pollutant removal performance were also developed and may be used in minimizing the cost for stormevent monitoring to identify the pollutant removal performance of stormwater NBS.
