  • This study compared the everyday-life information behaviors of urban and rural adolescents to suggest ways that school library information services can better meet the information needs of each of these groups. It focused its comparison not only on the everyday-life information-seeking behaviors but also on kinds of information grounds and barriers forming information grounds. Two qualitative methods, written activity logs and semi-structured in-depth interviews, were used to examine everyday-life information behaviors of adolescents. It is expected that the proposed strategies will be used in planning actual school library information services for urban or rural youths.

  • This study aimed to examine the urban families and rural families in tenns of life styles on Saturday-with-no-school. The subjects were the 386 parents whose children were in the first or second grade in rural or urban area. The instruments of analysis were time diary method and parents' stress scale developed by Kim & Kang(l997). The main results were as follows: First, in comparison with urban children, rural children spent more time in viewing TV and playing computer but spend less time in sleeping. field trip and cleaning on Saturday-with-no-school. Second, the difference of child-rearing time between mothers and fathers was less marked in urban area than in rural area. Rural fathers spent more time in watching TV or playing computer, while rural mothers spent more time in feeding and bathing of their children, helping their children do homework, and total child-rearing. Third, unlike urban parents, rural parents ddid not have much parenting stress on Saturday-with-no-school. These results show that there is a need to focus on rural parents in the preparation for introduction of 5 days-school-week system.

  • Farm economy is getting worse because of the free trade trends in agriculture sector and unreasonable application of market economy principles to agricultural products. And The worldwide issues of environmental pollution as well as want of food, water and energy make human future be anxious. In addition, consumers raise questions in argument about safety of foods produced by traditional farming or imported. So I propose the urban-rural living community movement(URLCM) as an alternative plan for sustainable domestic agriculture. URLCM based on environmentally friendly agriculture and community consciousness will be able to solve many of present issues on agriculture and rural society through incessant interchanges between urban and rural community. This URLCM has to be basically founded on principles of symbiosis-coexistence and life circulation. So those that have to be driven forward arc organizing producers and consumer cooperatives, making environmentally friendly rural region and products, combining with consumer cooperatives, training the participants and so forth.

Statistical analysis were conducted using t-test, Pearson’s correlation and Factor analysis. The major findings were (1) the level of living, the standard of living and extent of successful resource management were higher in the urban households than the rural households. (2) The urban and rural households could reduce the gap between the level of living and the standard of living in food and nutrition area through the effective resource management. • In these days, almost urban railway vehicle has been serviced under the random load application. But it is very important that fatigue lift prediction fur structures is major factor of safety. So do this, it is required that fatigue assessment method for cumulative damage approach while Korea domestic regulations only has endurance limit approach. With this endurance limit approach, fatigue lift prediction is impossible. In this research, it will be present that fatigue assessment for urban transit structure by using of cumulative damage approach method and related theories.

  • This paper is concerned with the life-cycle cost(LCC) analysis of the urban transit vehicle. LCC is the core part of analyzing the total cost of acquisition and ownership of a system. LCC in railway industry has been focused on the prediction of investment for railway vehicles. Therefore, to investigate future cost for operation and maintenance in detail, it is necessary to evaluate the LCC of the vehicle systematically. This study is focused on making a fundamental model for estimating the LCC of the urban transit vehicle. To develop a appropriate LCC model, we broadly analyzed specs and standards and compared the LCC model developed in other country. Moreover, this paper proposes strategies to develop an unique LCC model for the urban transit vehicle.

  • Urban parks are progressing but are in chaos in the twenty-first century. Therefore the purposes of this study are to consider critically and classify the new paradigm of urban parks. Urban parks are one of the space products, and progressing aspects can be divided into three parts; supply, demand and market aspects. In the abstract, urban parks' progress represents process, openness or voidness, general and cultural ecology, productivity, experience program, identity or sense of place, carriers of urban regeneration, urban infrastructure, community space, multi-layered activity, active space, communication with urban space, tool of low carbon strategy and consilience. But urban parks have come under increased criticism about the long period development on trees growth, covering open space, limitation of general and cultural ecology, production, activity programs, identity and community space, visible urban regeneration, economic validity, urban sprawl, not using as the low carbon strategy, and finally negative consilience with contiguous fields. We collected these critical consideration about progressing urban parks, and proposed urban agricultural park as one of the alternative urban parks. This is closely connected with sustainable region development, low-carbon society, local food, well-being, Lohas paradigm and amenity of urban life.

Income is a variable to influence on dealing with task in delegation to others, education of homemaker is a variable to influence on dealing with task in next session and importance & urgency of the task and the number of children were variables to influence on dealing with task immediately. Third, human oriented decision marking style was a variable to influence on dealing with task in delegation with task in delegation to others, in the next session, and in suspending/ in neglecting. Task oriented decision making style was a variable to influence on dealing with task immediately. Fourth, The urgency of task & income were variables to have direct influence on dealing with task in delegation with task in next session, and the urgency of the task, age & education of homemaker and family life cycle were varia les to direct influence on dealing with the task immediately. • Purpose: The present study was to done ascertain variables related to health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and their related factors in elders from urban or rural areas. Methods: Data were collected from raw material of the 2009 community health survey. Participants were 2,140 elders. Health related quality of life (HRQOL) was measured using EQ-5D. Data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0. Results: Mean EQ index score for urban elders was $0.78{\pm}0.23$, Mean EQ index score for rural elders was $0.82{\pm}0.16$. Rural elders had significantly higher EQ-5D index value compared to urban elders. The urban elder HRQOL model accounted for 33.6% of the variance due to depression, age, stress perception. The rural elder HRQOL model accounted for 23.5% of the variance due to exercising walking, skipping breakfast, depression in that order. In comparison, depression, skipping breakfast, livelihood, arthritis, stress perception, hours of sleep and age are strongly associated with HRQOL in both groups. Conclusion: Results indicate that significant differences in HRQOL between elders from the two areas and thus, confirm claims that welfare services for elders should be provided with consideration of the different needs of elders in the two areas, and in particular for addressing depression in elders.
