  • This paper proposes an audio event classification method using Deep Neural Networks (DNN). The proposed method applies Feed Forward Neural Network (FFNN) to generate event probabilities of ten audio events (dog barks, engine idling, and so on) for each frame. For each frame, mel scale filter bank features of its consecutive frames are used as the input vector of the FFNN. These event probabilities are accumulated for the events and the classification result is determined as the event with the highest accumulated probability. For the same dataset, the best accuracy of previous studies was reported as about 70% when the Support Vector Machine (SVM) was applied. The best accuracy of the proposed method achieves as 79.23% for the UrbanSound8K dataset when 80 mel scale filter bank features each from 7 consecutive frames (in total 560) were implemented as the input vector for the FFNN with two hidden layers and 2,000 neurons per hidden layer. In this configuration, the rectified linear unit was suggested as its activation function.

  • Recently, the land degradation and pasture erosion in Tuv, located around Ulaanbaatar of Mongolia, have been increasing sharply due to escalating developments of mining sectors, well as the density of populations. Because of that, we have chosen the urban and mining area of Tuv for our study target. During the study, the temporal changes of land cover in Tuv, Mongolia were observed by the Landsat TM/+ETM satellite images from 2001 to 2009 that provided the fundamental dataset to apply NDVI and K-Mean algorithm of Unsupervised Classification and Maximum likelihood classification(MLC) of Supervised Classification in order to conclude in land cover change analyzation. The result of our study implies that the growth of mining area, the climate change, and the density of population led the land degradation to desertification.

  • This study aims to estimate the cover classification and carbon respiration of halophytes based on the issues of utilising blue carbon in recent context of climate change. To address the aims, the study classified halophytes(Triglochin maritimum L and Phragmites australis), Intertidal(non-vegetated tidal flats) and Supratidal(sandy tidal flats) to measure carbon respiration and classify cover. The results are revealed that first, the carbon respiration in vegetated areas was less than that in non-vegetated areas. Second, the cover classification could be divided into halophyte communities(Triglochin maritimum L, Phragmites australis), Intertidal and Supratidal by NDWI(Moisture Index, Normalized Difference Water Index) Third, the total carbon respiration of blue carbon was calculated to be -0.0121 Ton km2 hr-1 with halophyte communities at -0.0011 Ton km2 hr-1, Intertidal respiration at -0.0113 Ton km2 hr-1 and Supratidal respiration at 0.0003 Ton km2 hr-1. As this challenge is a fundamental study that calculates the quantitative net carbon storage based on the blue carbon-based marine ecosystem, contributing to firstly, measuring the carbon respiration of cordgrass communities, reed communities, and non-vegetated tidal flats, which are potential blue carbon candidates in the study area, to establish representative values for carbon respiration, secondly, verifying the reliability of cover classification of native halophytes extracted through image classification technology, and thirdly, challenging to create a thematic map of carbon respiration, calculating the area and carbon respiration for each classification category.

  • The purpose of this study is focused on the development of compound classification process by mixing multitemporal data and annexing a specific image enhancement technique with a specific image classification algorithm, to gain more accurate land information from satellite imagery. That is, this study suggests the classification process using canonical correlation classification technique after principal component analysis for the mixed multitemporal data. The result of this proposed classification process is compared with the canonical correlation classification result of one date images, multitemporal imagery and a mixed image after principal component analysis for one date images. The satellite images which are used are the Landsat 5 TM images acquired on July 26, 1994 and September 1, 1996. Ground truth data for accuracy assessment is obtained from topographic map and aerial photograph, and all of the study area is used for accuracy assessment. The proposed compound classification process showed superior efficiency to appling canonical correlation classification technique for only one date image in classification accuracy by 8.2%. Especially, it was valid in classifying mixed urban area correctly. Conclusively, to improve the classification accuracy when extracting land cover information using Landsat TM image, appling canonical correlation classification technique after principal component analysis for multitemporal imagery is very useful.

  • Urban regeneration projects tingeing the shape of mixed-use development, due to the nature of the business, involve risk factors such as protracted business conflict among participations, subjects, complex approval and permission procedure, frequent policy changes, etc. Therefore, systematic risk management is needed to effectively manage the numerous risk factors that may occur during the process course of project. However, risk management of large and complex development projects such as urban regeneration projects is in the introduction stage yet and somewhat one time risk management plan has been established. Therefore, in this study, in order to systematic risk management of urban regeneration projects inhered numerous risk factors, risk factors for urban regeneration projects through preceding studies and case studies were presented. Also risk factors are classified in accordance with business propulsion phase, by estimating the importance for these, step by step emphasis on managed subjects of risk management was proposed.

  • Landuse information is base data being applied as common database in the process of executing urban project service and is very available. But, the progress of business on landuse information building is deficient yet. In this study, we'd like to deal with landuse information projet that is the base of urban project, many landuse information building and the method of extraction of efficient second-information. Also, we built system to apply actively landuse information for urban projectors. And, we'd like to present the model on urban landuse classification system that wouldn't be standard yet by studying the method of urban landuse pattern using landuse in-formation being built. Also, we can evaluate if the model of urban landuse pattern comes up to present landuse. We can expect it is a base data by extracting unsuitable area from present landuse efficiently when we construct landuse project.

  • This study attempted to suggest the factors that facilities that aim to exchange urban-rural coexistence base spaces with urban-rural areas should have. In order to derive factors, 15 literatures preceded by similar studies were investigated, and systematic classification was attempted. Finally, the factors for activating urban and rural base facilities were organized into 3 categories, 9 sectors, and 30 activation factors. The three major categories consisted of resources and facilities, content and programs, operational status. As a result of the AHP survey, in the survey area, which is a categories, resources and facilities composed of hardware factors originally possessed by the facility showed the highest score of 48.9. In the sectors, the convenience of facility use was 25.7 points, and the rich state of tangible and intangible resources was 13.3 points in order. In the sectors, income from paid experience programs at facilities was 8.3 points, physical accessibility to facilities was 8.2 points, and the type of areas where the facilities were located was 7.7 points in order. It showed high importance in the order of resources and facilities composed of hardware factors, content and programs composed of software factors, and manpower and operation composed of humanware factors. In general, it was shown that the physical factors of the place when using urban and rural base facilities were judged as the main factors.

  • The historical value of the official documents of the Government General of Choson preserved as permanent archived documents has long been recognized. However, the fact that only parts of the overall documents were preserved and that the contents of the existing documents is not uniform, results in many problems regarding the evaluation and usage of such documents as archives. This study attempts to appraise a series of archival documents related to urban district planning compiled during the colonial era. Although limited in terms of its applicability to the development of an evaluation method for the official documents of the Government General of Choson as a whole, by evaluating the value of these documents based on the background of the documents produced during the Government General of Choson's implementation of its colonial policy, this study provides an important indicator of how such documents should be used in the future. On the other hand, the assessment of historical records such as the official documents of the Government General of Choson which have already been designated and preserved as permanent archived documents should not be perceived as an attempt to dispose of the relevant documents. With regard to the appraisal of historical archives, it is necessary to consider measures to link such documents with existing databases or information contents in order to heighten access to and usage of the relevant documents in the future.

  • Fractional values resulted from the spectral mixture analysis could be used to classify not only urban area with various materials but also forest area in more detailed spatial scale. Especially South Korea is largely consist of mixed forest, so the spectral mixture analysis is suitable as a classification method. For the successful classification using spectral mixture analysis, extraction of optimal endmembers is prerequisite process. Though geometric endmember selection has been widely used, it is barely suitable for forest area. Therefore, in this study, we modified Iterative Error Analysis (IEA), one of the most famous algorithms of image endmember selection which extracts pure pixel directly from the image. The endmembers which represent deciduous and coniferous trees are automatically extracted. The experiments were implemented on two sites of Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager (CASI) and classified forest area into two types. Accuracies of each classification results were 86% and 90%, which mean proposed algorithm effectively extracted proper endmembers. For the more accurate classification, another substances like forest gap should be considered.

  • The digital map expresses natural topography and artificial things with 3D position coordinates in the computer such as the road, railway, building, river, mountain, paddy and dryland. Therefore, those should contribute to the information-oriented society by maintaining information and providing it to users quickly. However it is difficult to maintain the most recent topographic information all the time because of restricted budget and time. The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the updating area of the digital map using remotely sensed data, and to furnish the useful information reducing cost and time. To predict updating area of the digital map, we applied the urban changes analysis method to Landsat TM images from produced date of the digital map to up-to-date. Classification method for urban change analysis applied single band process algorithm. This study presents that updating area of the digital map is predicted by only the rate of 40% on total research area.
