  • The firmware upgrade, which is remotely performed, is an essential function in smart metering or AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure). In other words, the AMI software and firmware can be switched for maintaining and improvement without replacement of H/W devices in AMI environment. Also, if number and type of devices are increase, the demand of remote update service will be increased. Through the firmware upgrade service remotely, the electric power corporation may be able to benefit various fields. For example, there are to adapt more easily in many environments, real-time service and to cut maintenance costs. In this paper, we proposed to design an international level FUMS(Firmware Upgrade Management System) which includes requirement function, architecture and protocol related with DCU, Smart Meter.

  • Micro jetting drop inspection system is essential to measuring micro drop volume. Measuring pico-liter drop volume is useful for new LCD color filter product process that is based on inkjet printing technology. To upgrade the reliability in drop measurement system, we use the auto focusing & multi drop reiteration & blurring average algorism. First of all we used standard mark for gage R&R in the vision system. Finding the most suitable threshold for multi blurring drop, is the main key of this research. Sensitivity of vision system is a standard in measuring the upgrade system level. So, suitable threshold can upgrade the performance of jetting drop inspection system.

School-Community Cooperation - A Case Study of Facility Share between the Middle School and the Community in Seong Dong Gu - (학교와 지역사회의 시설 공동 활용 - 성동구의 중학교와 지역사회의 시설 교차 이용을 중심으로 -)

  • This paper is to survey the cooperation between the school and the community with respect to the degree of share of their facilities. The hypothesis of this paper is that the share of facilities between the school and the community is helpful for the two. That is, the community, using the school facilities, can educate to upgrade its people to higher social level. The school, using the community facilities, can compensate insufficient school facilities and facilitate student learnings. This paper employed both a literature survey and a case study approach explained by the case of Seong Dong Gu and its schools. This paper argued that the share of the facilities between the school and the community is needed to facilitate student learnings and to upgrade community people to higher level. Thus, government should encourage the cooperation between the two. This paper found that the school can use other schools' facilities, camping facilities, various types of private institute, community libraries, social welfare centers, athlentic facilities, and park facilities in the community. Most of the facilities are rested during school hours and are vacant more or less after school hours, so that there are still room for share the facilities with the students. This paper found that the community can easily use school facilities for life-long education programs, house-wife classes, athlentic programs for daily life, recreation classes for community people because the school is located in the center of the community. These programs using school facilities can encourage to upgrade community persons' social levels. However, this paper found that the degree of community use is insufficient to fulfil the school facilities. Only a few percent of the school class rooms and other facilities are used by the community. Therefore this paper asserted that community education programs using school facilities should be expanded. This paper recommended, based on the findings, that governments should encourage the cooperation between the school and the community to facilitate student's learnings and to upgrade community people to higher level. Also it recommended that the school should share more community facilities and that the community should share more school facilities.

The Evaluation of Technology Level on Korea‘s Mid & Long-term Strategic Technologies (우리나라 중장기 전략기술의 수준평가에 관한 연구)

  • It is important to identify the mid and long-term strategic technologies and evaluate technology level for the establishment of national R&D policy to upgrade technology level in Korea. This paper summarizes the result of technology level evaluation for 99 key technologies of 'National Technology Road Map', which consists of 5 visions, of Korea. The technology level, the technological gap between Korea and world-top country, the role of government to upgrade technology level, etc. were investigated by the survey (total 1,067 respondents) and the interview with experts related to key technologies. The average technology level of Korea was $65.1\%$ of that of world-top country and average technological gap was 5.8 years. The technology level of vision I 'Building an Information-Knowledge-Intelligence Society' was $71.6\%$ and highest among 5 visions. The highest technology level among 99 key technologies was $85.6\%$ for 'Digital Broadcasting Technology' and the lowest was $20\%$ for 'weather Control Technology'. The major reasons of technological gap were investigated as the lack of R&D personnel ($23.8\%$), the shortage of R&D funds ($17.8\%$), and the insufficiency of basic research ($15.4\%$), in sequence. The average technology level of USA was evaluated to highest in the world. It was presented that the technological power of China increased rapidly in the expert interview. The result of technology level evaluation would be primary information for various national S&T planning, such as S&T basic plan, S&T foresight, technology road map, etc.

  • Recently, the Korea Enhanced Power system Simulator (KEPS) was upgraded with new processor cards and various peripheral devices. The purpose of the upgrade is for the large-scale AC/DC simulation studies for different purposes such as FACTS, PMU applications, and SPS. The need for such study is now growing in KEPCO network. Frequently, traditional ways of performing the necessary study had been found to be less adequate for guiding the key decisions in the company. Therefore, the growing needs, as well as the revealed inadequacy of the traditional system studies, had been attributing to the momentum for the upgrade project. This paper explains the details of the upgrade project. As an example of presenting the effectiveness of the upgraded RTDS system in KEPRI-KEPCO, a large-scale AC/DC real time simulation case which includes the entire Korean network and a planned MMC-HVDC system is introduced.

  • This study was carried out to propose some useful advices for the improvement policy of the minor rural roads. From the case study on 5 country areas of Chonnam Province, it was ascertained that above a third of minor rural roads did not meet the statutory minimum level of their width, which means the necessity of substantial upgrade of road improvement works in rural areas.

  • The concepts of static seat allocation model has been used widely in the air transportation industry, and proven as a good concepts for managing perishable assets. The paper analyzed, in realistic environment, the volume of Accept Demand and Reject Demand through several times' simulation experiments at each fare level by using C-Program analyzing process applied to upward and downward models of demand, to analyze the change of fare level when upward and downward shifts of fare levels' demand happen at once. As a consequence, I concluded that the revenue of the case to consider the both shifts of demand at each fare level is bigger than that of the case to consider the single shift of demand at each fare level, except the case to downsize the seat allotment at very low price when supply is bigger than demand, with developing a general model concerned with plural fare levels.

Optimization of Improvement Level for Second-Hand Product with Periodic Maintenance Schedule (주기적인 유지보수 계획에 따른 중고제품에 대한 최적 향상수준)

  • Due to a growing demand for the second-hand product, especially for the expensive one, the warranty and maintenance policies for such products have been studied to improve the product reliability of late. In this paper we study a periodic maintenance model for the second-hand product which is purchased by the customer at the age of $x$. When purchased, the dealer provides a warranty of a fixed length during which the product is maintained periodically to reduce the failure rate of the product and thus, to improve the reliability after each maintenance is served. If a failure occurs between two successive maintenances, only minimal repair is conducted. As for the warranty policy, we adopt free non-renewing repair action on each failure, in addition to the periodic maintenance service during the warranty period. Thus, under the given warranty policy, all the maintenance and repair costs incurred during the warranty period are charged to the dealer. For the proposed periodic maintenance scheme, we formulate a cost model to evaluate the expected total cost charged to the dealer during the warranty period and derive an optimal upgrade level of the failure rate at each maintenance to minimize the expected total warranty cost from the perspective of the dealer. We also present numerical results for an optimal upgrade level based on the proposed methods.

  • Currently, the library system using the method of the software on the client / server and ASP by providing services in a manner of hardware and software, and cross-referencing, installation and deployment, Customization, Upgrade, risk management, and software licenses across the high-cost management of difficult and costly There is a problem. To solve these problems, SaaS based Integrated Management System for Digital Library, multi-tenant environments(SaaS Maturity Level 3 and above) as a key element in the implementation were developed. Therefore, almost no initial investment cost, easy, simple, low-cost IT services available on SaaS based software on-demand service model of how the system is implemented.

  • IEC 60300 series, the international standards on reliability management system are newly developed and introduced rapidly worldwide. In order to meet this fast-changing situation, it is necessary to apply them to the Korean industries effectively. It includes the establishment of the infrastructure such as documentation of Korean Standards, introduction of test equipments and test manuals, accreditation of the certification bodies and training of the specialists etc. IEC 60300 is upgraded management system of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000. In this regard, the Korean companies which were certified with the ISO 9000 or 14000 should endeavor to find new strategies and methods to be certified with IEC 60300. This paper introduces a Quantitative method of estimating the level of the reliability management system by applying the MIR(Maturity Index on Reliability) technique. This enables the estimation of the operation level of the system and can upgrade the maturity level of it.
