  • This Study was to examine whether high school students' autonomy support and beliefs of intelligence ability influence their self-regulated strategies. Of the 600 high school students surveyed from 3 high schools in two metropolitan cities, Korea, 478 completed and returned the questionnaires yielding a total response rate of 79.7%. Among the final sample consisted of 109 gifted students (22.8%), 190 high-achieving non-gifted students (39.7%), and low-achieving non-gifted students (37.4%). Measures of students' perceived autonomy support (i.e. from parents, teacher, peer), beliefs of intelligence ability (i.e. incremental, entity) and self-regulated strategies (i.e. managing environment and behavior, seeking and learning information, maladaptive regulatory behavior). Spearman's rho(${\rho}$) indicated that students' achieving level was positively associated with autonomy support (i.e. parents, teacher), beliefs of intelligence ability (i.e. incremental) and self-regulated strategies (i.e. managing environment and behavior, seeking and learning information). However, students' achieving level was negatively associated with beliefs of intelligence ability (i.e. entity) and self-regulated strategies (i.e. maladaptive regulatory behavior). Hierarchical multiple regression analyses showed that students' perceived autonomy support (i.e. from teacher) and beliefs of intelligence ability (i.e. incremental) were the crucial contributors for enhancing students' self-regulated strategies. Results are discussed in relation to theoretical implications and school settings.

  • Purpose: Medication adherence in older adults with multimorbidity is critical for self-care. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to identify the factors that influence medication adherence in older adults with multimorbidity. Methods: The patients were 116 adults 65 or older with three or more chronic diseases. The data were collected from December 2020 to April 2022 in outpatient clinics at a hospital in Daejeon. Results: The mean scores of depression, social support, and medication adherence were 16.18± 6.74 (of 30), 41.06± 6.56 (of 60), and 4.69± 1.85 (of 8) points, respectively. Patients with low adherence comprised the most with 75 patients (64.7%). Influencing factors on medication adherence were depression (β= -.35, p= .007) and family support among social support (β= .29, p= .006). Conclusion: Among older adults with multimorbidity, lower depression as well as higher family support, results in higher medication adherence. It is necessary to develop a practical strategy toward improving medication adherence, by sensitively managing the degree of depression, as well as strengthening family support.

  • Purpose: A descriptive correlational study was designed to examine the relationship of trait anger and anger expression to blood pressure, cholesterol, and depression in middle-aged Korean men. In addition, this study investigated the mediating effect of social support in relation to anger and other variables. Methods: Two hundred and ninety nine men aged 40 to 64 years were recruited from a health center at K University Hospital located in Ansan City, Kyungki province, Korea. The instruments used were Spielberger's state trait anger expression inventory-the Korean version for trait anger and anger expression, Beck's depression inventory for depression, and a Personal resource questionnaire for perceived social support. Results: Men with high trait anger showed significantly higher systolic blood pressure(BP) and diastolic BP The level of cholesterol did not have a significant relationship with trait anger and anger expression. The severity of depression was significantly higher in men with high trait anger or more frequent uses of anger-in or anger-out. The perceived social support had a significant mediating effect in relation to trait anger and depression. Conclusions: Various nursing interventions for managing anger or improving social support need to be developed in a future study.

  • RFID applications are mostly associated with the timestamp when the events occur. For managing RFID data we need to design data modeling for RFID data to support monitoring and temporal queries. In this paper, we propose a temporal RFID data modeling to maintain the history of events and state changes and to monitor the states of RFID objects. This data modeling involves essential basic operations for RFID data to monitor the information of RFID objects and to support temporal queries. Filter operations can achieve better query performance and obtain efficient storage space usage. It is possible to adapt into different temporal business applications.

  • World Wide Web is a total solution for multi-media data transmission on Internet. Because of its characteristics like ease of use, support for multi-media data and smart graphic user interface, WWW has extended to cover all kinds of applications. The Secure Information Center(SIC) is a data transmission system using conventional cryptography between client and server on WWW. It's main function is to support the encryption of sending data. For encryption of data IDEA(International Data Encryption Algorithm) is used and for authentication mechanism MD5 hash function is used. Since Secure Information Center is used by many users, conventional cryptosystem is efficient in managing their secure interactions. However, there are some restrictions on sharing of same key and data transmission between client and server, for example the risk of key exposure and the difficulty of key sharing mechanisms. To solve these problems, the Secure Information Center provides encryption mechanisms and key management policies.

  • This study aims to contribute to managing the human resource of dental hygienists and qualitatively enhancing dental medical services by examining factors that affect their turnover intention. Therefore, it attempted to examine their degrees of emotional labor, job satisfaction, and social support and the effects of each variable on turnover intention. This study administered self-reporting questionnaires to dental hygienists working in dental hospitals, dental clinics, and general or university hospitals in Seoul Metropolis and Gyeonggi-do by conducting convenience sampling, from May 18, 2017 to August 4, 2017. Among a total of 224 copies that were distributed, a total of 223 copies, excluding 1 copy with poor responses, were used in the data analysis. The research tools comprised 12 questions on general characteristics, 24 questions on emotional labor (4-point Likert scale), 16 questions on job satisfaction (5-point Likert scale), 8 questions on social support (4-point Likert scale), and 4 questions on turnover (5-point Likert scale). The scores of dental hygienists were as follows: emotional labor, 2.49 out of 4; job satisfaction, 3.14 out of 5; social support, 3.04 out of 4; and turnover intention, 3.07 out of 5. Their turnover intention has a positive correlation with emotional labor, but a negative correlation with job satisfaction and social support. It was found that some factors that significantly influence turnover intention included the amount of overtime work and job satisfaction. Thus, dental medical institutes should search for measures, including improvement of the working environment, to reduce the amount of overtime work and enhance job satisfaction.

  • This study aims to classify parents by considering important factors in the management of foodservice for children. An offline survey was conducted by enrolling 583 Korean parents whose children attended public or private kindergartens in Seoul. The important factors required for managing foodservice for children are meal service resources, menu management, and food allergy. Considering these factors, parents were grouped into 3 clusters: the allergy important group, environment important group, and high concern group. Evaluation of the demographic characteristics revealed a significant difference between clusters with respect to type of kindergarten. Parents perceived that a private kitchen is more required than a private dining room, and perceptions about the need for a private kitchen and dining room were significantly different among the clusters. Furthermore, the results reveal significant differences between clusters, when considering the need to support meal service. Therefore, the government needs to consider characteristics of the parent cluster if they plan to support the kindergarten foodservice. We believe that this study can be used as supportive data to establish a working policy.
