  • As we approach the end of the twentieth century, it seems we need a new way to express the thoughts, needs, and values that are undergoing a drastic change and a new strategy to create diverse cultural forms that would reflect and incorporate such changes. In this study, I am introducing the chaos theory as a new way of thinking that would help counterbalancing the deter-ministic world-view and forging a harmonious unity of man and his environment. As a creative principle, the theory seems to offer an unlimited number of structural possibilities for art and design. In fine, this study discuss-es the reductive nature of modernist approach and offer instead the chaos theory that is more probabilistic and capable of greater diversity.

  • Currently the mobile augmented reality does not require supplemental hardware, such as markers like specific images or depth cameras, in order to acquire 3D environment information. This allows for increased accessibility and usability for the general user, and also broadened scope of development. The market research enterprise Counterpoint Research predicted that the growth of the augmented reality market will reach 70 trillion Korean Won by 2021. Application developments are also progressing. Wargaming, the developer of the global game World of Tanks, has launched an application that uses AR core at the GDC 2018. Thus, we must prepare for the impending augmented reality market and acquire top class augmented reality technology using 3D environment. This paper outlines the development of a game using AR CORE SDK to acquire 3D environment and Unity 3D game engine to combine camera images and 3D graphics, which all comes together to construct a natural augmented reality.

  • Alternate reality games (ARGs) are a game genre with characteristics that can lead to changes in current integrated media environments. While technical combinations are being pursued as diverse media are utilized based on formative aspects, the representative, narrative combination of the real and the virtual is a convergent factor in narrative structures. Through perspectives that perceive transmedia storytelling-which has brought convergence to communication among gamers-as having a structure and utility that can outclass previous game forms, this study focuses on ARGs, which have features that converge reality and virtual reality. Further, the study reveals the structure and utility of that system. This study sheds light convergent storytelling, which is in demand in the transmedia age, and which will serve as a significant investigation with regard to social perceptions of future games and changes in game form.

  • Lately the VR (Virtual Reality) game genre is becoming increasingly more popular and it has been cementing its place in the market as its own independent game genre. The key advantage of VR is that it lowers the barrier between player and the virtual world, thus creating an immersive experience. The suggested method develops a game that allows the player to experience what it is like to be visually impaired using the unique characteristics of VR. A distinctive feature of this game is that the character is provided only a limited range of sight, which is created using silhouette outlines. This restrictive visual field is then grafted onto VR and the player can indirectly experience blindness in a highly immersive manner. The silhouette outline along with the particle system is created using Oculus Rift, a headset highly used in VR game development, and Unity 3D game engine. We will also explain in detail regarding the removal of borders between the objects.
