Push-out test is performed on perfobond shear connectors applying ultra high performance concretes with compressive strength higher than 80 MPa to evaluate their shear resistance. The test variables are chosen to be the diameter and number of dowel holes and, the change in the shear strength of the perfobond rib connector is examined with respect to the strength of two types of UHPC: steel fiber-reinforced concrete with compressive strength of 180 MPa and concrete without steel fiber with compressive strength of 80 MPa. The test results reveal that higher concrete strength and larger number of holes increased the shear strength, and that higher increase rate in the shear strength was achieved by the dowel action.

The proposed techniques to strengthen concrete members such as steel plates, polymers or concrete have important deficiencies in adherence and durability. The use of UHPFC plates can overtake effectively these problems. In this paper, the possibility of using UHPFC to strengthen RC beams under torsion is investigated. Four specimens of concrete beams reinforced with longitudinal bars only were tested under pure torsion. One of the beams was considered as the baseline specimen, while the others were strengthened by ultra-high-performance fiber concrete (UHPFC) on two, three, and four sides. Finite element analysis was conducted in tandem with experimental work. Results showed that UHPFC enhances the strength, ductility, and toughness of concrete beams under torsional load, and that finite element analysis is in good agreement with the experimental data.
The analytical model was constituted to evaluate the flexural strength of UHPFRC(ultra high performance fiber reinforced concrete) member. The analytical approach was attemped to study the effect of the joint and the result compared with the experimental study to verify the analytical model. The calculated value tends to underestimate about 23%~25% in comparison with the experimental result of the jointed test member because the bond stress between precast UHPFRC and cast-in-place UHPFRC surface is not considered in the analytical model. But in the case of the continuous test member, the analytical model provides reasonable results for the flexural strength of UHPFRC member.
The flexural behavior test of UHPC segmental box girder which has 160 MPa compressive strength and 15.4 m length was carried out. The effect of steel fibers in combination with reinforcing bars on improving the ductile performance of UHPC box girder was evaluated by comparing the flexural behavior of the UHPC segmental box girders made by the two kinds of mixing portion. The test variables are volume fraction of steel fibers and the arrangement of reinforcing bars. The behavior of UHPC box girder BF2 composed of 1% volume fraction of steel fibers and longitudinal reinforcing bars in web and upper flange with stirrup showed the similar ductile behavior with the girder BF1 composed of 2% volume fraction without stirrup in elastic stress region. But BF1 had the better stiffness and showed the more ductile behavior in inelastic stress region. Segmental interfaces of UHPC box girder have not any crack and slide until the final flexural collapse load.
Experimental investigation on the structural behavior of steel fiber-reinforced ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) beams subjected to torsion are presented. Six tests carried out on square beams under torsional moment are presented. The experimental parameters were the volume fraction of the fibers and closed-stirrup ratio. The volume fraction of the fibers was 1.0% and 2.0%. The closed-stirrup ratio was 0, 0.35%, and 0.70%. The test results indicated that ultimate torsional strength increased with increasing fiber volume, and that ultimate torsional strength also increased with increasing the closed-stirrup ratio. In addition, predictive equations for evaluating the ultimate torsional strength of UHPC beams were proposed. The comparison between computed values and the experimentally observed values was shown to validate the proposed analytical equations. It was found that predictions by using proposed equation provides good agreement with test results of UHPC beams.

This study investigated the electromechanical response of smart ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concretes (S-UHPFRCs) under flexural loading to evaluate the self-sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs in both tension and compression region. The electrical resistivity of S-UHPFRCs under flexural continuously changed even after first cracking due to the deflection-hardening behavior of S-UHPFRCs with the appearance of multiple microcracks. As the equivalent bending stress increased, the electrical resistivity of S-UHPFRCs decreased from 976.57 to 514.05 kΩ(47.0%) as the equivalent bending stress increased in compression region, and that did from 979.61 to 682.28 kΩ(30.4%) in tension region. The stress sensitivity coefficient of S-UHPFRCs in compression and tension region was 1.709 and 1.098 %/MPa, respectively. And, the deflection sensitivity coefficient of S-UHPFRCs in compression region(30.06 %/mm) was higher than that in tension region(19.72 %/mm). The initial deflection sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs was almost 50% of each deflection sensitivity coefficient, and it was confirmed that it has an excellent sensing capacity for the initial deflection. Although both stress- and deflection-sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs under flexural were higher in compression region than in tension region, S-UHPFRCs are sufficient as a self-sensing material to be applied to the construction field.

This experimental study presents the fatigue evaluation of a precast deck connected using Ultra-High Performance, Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC). Four types of two identical large-scale specimens were fabricated with simplified splice rebar details which had a short splice length of ten times rebar diameter. The flexural behavior of each type of specimens until failure was investigated and fatigue behavior of the same type of specimens was then evaluated using two-million cyclic loading. In the flexural tests, tensile rebars exhibited the deformation exceeding yielding strain but failure mode related to the splice details was not observed in spite of such a short splice length. In the fatigue tests, damage was not appreciably accumulated by the cyclic loading except initial flexural cracks and the stress variations in tensile rebars was less than the allowable stress range. These experimental results demonstrate that all types of specimens exhibited acceptable fatigue performance and indicate that enhanced mechanical properties of ultra-high performance material permits to use a simplified splice details along with short joint width.
Filling materials poured into precast member joint are subjected to restraint stress by the precast member and joint reinforcement. The induced stress will likely cause cracks at early ages and performance degradation of the entire structure. To prevent these issues and design reasonable joints, it is very important to analyze and evaluate the restrained shrinkage cracks of filling materials at various restraint conditions. In this study, a new time zero-that defines the shrinkage development time of a filling material-is proposed to calculate the accurate amount of shrinkage. The tensile stresses and strengths at different ages were compared through the ring test (AASHTO PP34) to evaluate the crack potential of the restrained filling materials at various restraint conditions. The mixture which contained an expansive additive and a shrinkage reducing agent exhibited high resistance to shrinkage cracking owing to the high-drying shrinkage compensation effect. The high-performance, fiber-reinforced cement composite, and ultra-high-performance, fiber-reinforced cement composite yielded very high resistance to shrinkage and cracking owing to the pull-out property of steel fibers. To this end, multiple nonlinear regression analyses were conducted based on the test results. Accordingly, a modified tensile stress equation that considered both the geometric shape of the specimen and the intrinsic properties of the material is proposed.

The 53-meter tall Albizzia Tower is a white, mineral building with a mixed concrete and wood structure. It harmoniously interacts with the high rises of La Confluence. Its base is largely open, in direct relation to the public space. The spaces are mutable, reversible, moldable thanks to a streamlined structure: posts, beams in glued laminated wood, with posts pushed back on the facade to facilitate the layout of office and housing floors, CLT floors with a span of 7 meters.

When UHSFRC is applied to structures, it can be expected that it shows excellent performance in a point of constructability and load capacity. However, its rich mix can cause some problems concerning the long-term behavior such as shrinkage and creep. Therefore it is inevitably needed to investigate its long-term behavior in order to apply it to structures safely. This study is dealing with the drying shrinkage of UHSFRC. UHSFRC shows relatively fast drying shrinkage in the early exposed ages and slow moisture diffusion caused by compact microstructure of the material. It was found that The KCI model to predict the drying shrinkage did not properly represent these properties of UHSFRC. therefore a modified drying shrinkage model applicable to UHSFRC, which has different shrinkage properties from that of normal concrete, was proposed
