As emergence of the ubiquitous society, it is possible to access the network for services needed to us in anytime and anywhere. The phenomena has been accelerated by revitalization of the sensor network offering the sensing information and data. Currently, sensor network contributes the convenience for various services such as environment monitoring, health care and home automation. However, sensor network has a weak point compared to traditional network, which is easily exposed to attacker. For this reason, messages communicated over the sensor network, are encrypted with symmetric key and transmitted. A number of symmetric cryptography algorithms have been researched. Among of them HIGHT algorithm in hardware and software implementation are more efficient than tradition AES in terms of speed and chip size. Therefore, it is suitable to resource constrained devices including RFID tag, Sensor node and Smart card. In the paper, we present the optimized software implementation on the ultra-light symmetric cryptography algorithm, HIGHT.

This paper describes a design of area-efficient/low-power cryptographic processor for HIGHT block cipher algorithm, which was approved as standard of cryptographic algorithm by KATS(Korean Agency for Technology and Standards) and ISO/IEC. The HIGHT algorithm, which is suitable for ubiquitous computing devices such as a sensor in USN or a RFID tag, encrypts a 64-bit data block with a 128-bit cipher key to make a 64-bit cipher text, and vice versa. For area-efficient and low-power implementation, we optimize round transform block and key scheduler to share hardware resources for encryption and decryption. The HIGHT64 core synthesized using a 0.35-${\mu}m$ CMOS cell library consists of 3,226 gates, and the estimated throughput is 150-Mbps with 80-MHz@2.5-V clock.
The need of contents adaptation in ubiquitous environments is growing to support multiple target platforms for 3D graphics contents. Since 3D graphics deal with a large data set md a high performance, a service adaptation for context changing is required to manipulate graphics contents with a more complicated method in multiple devices such as desktops, laptops, PDAs, mobile phones, etc. In this paper, we suggest a new notion of service adaptation middleware based on service rendering algorithm, which provides a flexible and customized service for user-centric 3D graphics contents. The service adaptation middleware consists of Service Adaptation(SA) for analyzing environments and Service Rendering(SR) for reconfiguring customized services by processing customized data. These adaptation services are able to intelligently and dynamically support the same computer graphics contents with good quality, when user environments are changed.

Together with soaring interest on Big Data, now there are vigorous reports that unearth various social values lying underneath those data from a number of application areas. Among those reports many are using such data as Internet search histories from Google site, social relationships from Facebook, and transactional or locational traces collected from various ubiquitous devices. Many of those researches, however, are conducted based on the data sets that are accumulated over the North American and European areas, which means that direct interpretation and application of social values exhibited by those researches to the other areas like Korea can be a disturbing task. This research has started from a validation study against Korean environment of the former paper which says an investment strategy that exploits up and down of Google search volume on a carefully selected set of terms shows high market performance. A huge difference between North American and Korean environment can be eye witnessed via the distinction in profit rates that are exhibited by the corresponding set of search terms. Two sets of search terms actually presented low correlation in their profit rates over two financial markets. Even in an experiment which compares the profit rates with two different investment periods with the same set of search terms showed no such meaningful result that outperforms the market average. With all these results, we cautiously conclude that establishing an investment strategy that exploits Internet search volume over a specified word set needs more conscious approach.

For the mobile healthcare environment, it is important to measure the exact biomedical signals in real time, and another key point is to design mobile healthcare devices with low power consumption. In this paper, we propose a method in which the piezo film sensor(PFS), having a low power characteristic, is used to measure the pulse signal synchronized with the heart rate from the radial artery. The critical issue in the bio-signal processing is the existence of the motion artifacts. To dissolve this problem, we have applied the periodic moving average filter using the quasi-periodicity of the pulse signal in addition to the conventional method of the adaptive filtering using the reference signal. Results of simulation and experiments are presented to confirm that the quasi-periodicity of the PFS signal can be used to eliminate completely the motion artifacts which still appears after the adaptive filtering.
This paper proposes both a novel tactile human-computer interface method and an improved algorithm for the wearable PC. Under the condition of Ubiquitous computing, the next generation PC aims at effective representation and integration of colors, brightness of light. sound, odor, taste and feelings. Also, it aims at human being centered man-machine interface. In spite of various functions of the wearable PC, for the convenience of possessing, hardware platform for the wearable PC should be small-sized and light weighted one. The main problems of making small sized PC are user interfaces, like keyboard, monitor and so on. The traditional user interfaces have critical limitations for reducing their size. In this paper, we propose a novel user input method and improved algorithm to constructing small sized, light weighted and wearable PC. And, we verify the effectiveness of suggested method and algorithm compared to the traditional algorithm.

Wireless body area network (WBAN) is an emerging short-range wireless communication network with sensor nodes located on, in or around the human body for healthcare, entertainment and ubiquitous computing. In WBANs, energy is severely constrained which is the prime consideration in the medium access control (MAC) protocol design. In this paper, we propose a novel MAC protocol named Energy-efficient Relay MAC with dynamic Power Control (ERPC-MAC) to save energy consumption. Without relying on the additional devices, ERPC-MAC employs relaying nodes to provide relay service for nodes which consume energy fast. Accordingly the superframe adjustment is performed and then the network topology can be smoothly switched from single-hop to multi-hop. Moreover, for further energy saving and reliability improvement, the dynamic power control is introduced to adjust the power level whenever a node transmits its packets to the coordinator or the relaying node. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first effort to integrate relay, topology adjustment and power control to improve the network performance in a WBAN. Comprehensive simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance. The results show that the ERPC-MAC is more superior to the existing standard and significantly prolongs the network lifetime.
In the latest date, medical body area networks (MBANs) are emerging as a new technology for diagnosis the human body. MBANs in the health care fields are based on short-range and low-power (e.g. ubiquitous computing) among small-sized devices, and have been used by means of medical services. In this paper, we proposed an emergency message transmission protocol using carrier sense multiple access/time division multiple access in MBANs. This scheme focuses on dependability and power-efficiency. In order to increase the reliability of the transmission, this scheme modified a MCTA slot of IEEE 802.15.3 standard to a SR-MCTA slot. SR-MCTA slot is assigned by MBAN coordinator according to requesting terminal nodes. The method, having the priority of transmission, occurs a collision packet randomly. Results from this proposed solution revel that reservation-based TDMA medical body area network(MBAN) protocol for transmitting emergency message was improved in terms of transmission delay.
Services system which has been emerging as a new way of application development utilizes services as fundamental units for developing a system. Services system can offer services within web environment as well as the ubiquitous environment where mobile devices are connected to wired or wireless network. In order to provide the functionality that meets users' requirements, the most appropriate service should be selected among candidate services by taking requests and context information into account. Therefore, it is important that the service system should provide services to users by dynamically adapting to users' requirements and context information. Since different users request same functionality with different context information, one service can be differently offered to users so that variability can happen to the service systems. Most researches on context-aware systems have a tendency to solve dynamic adaptation by using more or less ad hoc manner In this paper, we consider various types of services which are performed according to context information as variability and propose adaptable architecture by applying concepts of product line architecture in order to deal with variabilities systematically.
The purpose of this research is to extend Ad-hoc network system lifetime with the proposed routing protocol which has considered hop lifetimes of the nodes while guaranteeing QoS in the establishment process of Ad-hoc network communication paths. Based on another power aware routing system that proposed in the advanced research [1], we are proposing an alternative power aware routing system in which nodes' hop lifetimes are compared in order to extend the lifetime of an Ad-hoc network system and delay factors have been considered for the assurance of QoS. The research of the routing protocol in this paper, which aims to maximize the system survival time considering power consumption status during the path searching in MANET and pursues the mechanism that controls hop delays for the same reason, can be applied to the study of WSN. The study concerning such phenomena is essential so that the proposed protocol has been simulated and verified with NS-2 in Linux system focusing on the lifetimes of the hops of the nodes. Commercialization of smart devices and arrival of the ubiquitous age has brought about the world where all the people and things are connected with networks. Since the proposed power aware method and the hop delay control mechanism used to find the adequate communication paths in MANET which mainly uses batteries or in WSN, they can largely contribute to the lifetime extension of the network system by reducing power consumptions when utilized for the communications attempts among soldiers during military operation, disaster areas, temporary events or exhibitions, mobile phone shadow areas, home networks, in-between vehicle communications and sense networks, etc. This paper presents the definitions and some advantages regarding the proposed outing protocol that sustain and extend the lifetime of the networks.
