  • Researchers nowadays are trying to implement u-Healthcare (ubiquitous Healthcare) systems for real-time monitoring and analysis of patients' status through a low-cost and low-power wireless sensor network. u-Healthcare system has an aim to provide reliable and fast medical services for patients regardless of time and space by transmitting to doctors a large quantity of vital signs collected from sensor networks. Existing u-Healthcare systems can merely monitor patients' health status. However, it is not easy to derive physiologically meaningful results by analyzing rapidly vital signs through the existing u-Healthcare systems. We introduce a Grid computing technology for deriving the results by analyzing rapidly the vital signs collected from the sensor network. Since both sensor network and Grid computing use different protocols, a gateway is needed. In addition, we also need to construct a gateway which includes the functions such as an efficient management and control of the sensor network, real-time monitoring of the vital signs and communication services related to the Grid network for providing u-Healthcare services effectively. In this paper, to build an advanced u-Healthcare system by using these two technologies most efficiently, we design and present the results to implement a SensorGrid gateway which connects transparently the sensor network and the grid network.

  • Modernization of the medical healthcare system, through the use of technology, has become an important field of study today. The healthcare system is intended to efficiently deliver care and services to consumers. It is such that the healthcare system is defined as an industry which provides health services (health activities) so as to meet the health needs and demands of individuals, the family and the community. In this study, transforming healthcare so as to better meet the needs of patients will require changes in the strength of delivering care for patients who already have good access to services, while also improving the care for patients who find it harder to get the care they need.

  • Although u-healthcare service is emerged as an alternative method for effective chronic disease management services, the service has not yet been applied for real healthcare setting. The objective of this study is to explore the doctors' perception and influential factors on intention to use u-healthcare service. We conducted survey for physicians about u-healthcare service provision to compare characteristics by different groups. In addition, logistic regression analysis is conducted to find out factors affecting the usage intention. As a result, doctors responded only 16.0% of total respondents had experience of u-healthcare services, but also showed that as high as 70.1% had intention to use service. Also, respondents answered that u-healthcare services is appropriate to apply for chronic disease prevention and diabetes and hypertension are suggested as the most appropriate diseases in order. The intention to use the u-healthcare service by non-university hospital doctors was 3.7 times higher than university hospital doctor. This study shows that identifying the differences of doctors' awareness and also the intention to use about the u-healthcare services will contribute to develop more effective business model.

  • In this paper, we propose the active model based on the distributed object group framework which provides adaptive information sharing service to support it to various Healthcare home service. And we applied it to Healthcare home service. This proposed model provides information that collected from physical environment of the home network and sensors for healthcare service according to situation of the user. We uses information of the healthcare information database which was constructed previously, and we uses TMO scheme for to solve each other different periodic qualify. We uses information of the healthcare information database which was constructed previously, and we uses TMO scheme for to solve each other different periodic quality. Specialty, We wrote about interaction of various Healthcare Home services for adaptive information services, and wrote about u-healthcare framework based on DOGF. Finally, we apply active model to healthcare monitoring service, and we showed its result and performance evaluation.

  • By using the U-Healthcare environment, it is possible to receive the health care services anywhere anytime. However, since the user's personal information can be easily exposed in the U-Healthcare environment, it is necessary to strengthen the security system. This thesis proposes the technique which can be used to protect the personal medical records at hospital safely, in order to avoid the exposure of the user's personal information which can occur due to the frequent usage of the electronic chart according to the computerization process of medical records. In the proposed system, the following two strategies are used: i) In order to reduce the amount of the system load, it is necessary to apply the partial encryption process for electronic charts. ii) Regarding the user's authentication process for each patient, the authentication number for each electronic chart, which is in the encrypted form, is transmitted through the patient's mobile device by the National Health Insurance Corporation, when the patient register his or her application at hospital. Regarding the modern health care services, it is important to protect the user's personal information. The proposed technique will be an important method of protecting the user's information.

Existing u-healthcare systems can merely monitoring patients' health status. In this paper, we describe the implementation and validation of a prototype of a u-health monitoring system based on a wireless sensor network. This system is easy to derive physiologically meaningful results by analyzing rapidly vital signs. The monitoring system sends only the abnormal data of examinee to the service provider. This technique can reduces the wireless data packet overload between a monitoring part and service provider. The real-time bio-signal monitoring system makes possible to implement u-health services and improving efficiency of medical services.

  • Recently, U-Healthcare is receiving attentions as a research for reducing the manpower, time in treatment, and etc. Although fundamental technologies, such as sensing, measuring, and etc. are sufficiently investigated. However, Technologies of IT/Medical convergence, which graft IT technologies to medical area, are still in germ. For this, we present a novel healthcare system, which can be applied to the middle sized medical environment, such as private hospital, home, or etc., by means of pre-verified technologies and the expert system. There exist IT element technologies are sufficiently developed in the fields, such as network, database or etc. due to the remarkable developments in IT technologies, and the healthcare is a mission-critical environment. Therefore, it is important not only to investigate novel approaches but also to utilize verified technologies for the U-Healthcare solution. Presented solution provisions automated medical services based on expert system by utilizing the measured data, such as body fat, blood pressure, blood glucose, and etc., in order to provide convenient treatment environment to doctors and nurses. In addition, since people, who do not have medical knowledge, can self-diagnose themselves, it is expected to cut medical costs in various areas. Especially, since each devices communicate with each other through standardized Bluetooth technology, Presented healthcare system is an extensible solution which can easily accept various medical devices. As a result of this, we can safely say that the self measurement and diagnosis services in U-Healthcare are now enhanced by reducing medical cost through our healthcare system.
