  • Ubiquitous computing is a vogue word, and its service is very popular in Korea. However, present ubiquitous service(u-Service) is thought to be more oriented to the provider's point of view, not the consumer's. To complement this problem, an online survey was performed for internet users, which consists of 24 single choice questions on six fields such as transportation, healthcare, environment/city-management, culture/education, administration, and industry. 2463 people joined the survey, who were grouped according to their age, resident region, level of education, and sex. Each group's demand for specific field of u-Service was examined. General level of demand was higher in case of the elderly and male than the younger and female for overall u-Service.

  • All u-Health system has security vulnerabilities. This vulnerability locally(local) or network(network) is on the potential risk. Smart environment of health information technology, Ad-hoc networking, wireless communication environments, u-health are major factor to increase the security vulnerability. u-health care information systems user terminal domain interval, interval public network infrastructure, networking section, the intranet are divided into sections. Health information systems by separating domain specific reason to assess vulnerability vulnerability countermeasure for each domain are different. u-Healthcare System 5 layers of security risk assessment system for domain-specific security vulnerability diagnosis system designed to take the security measures are needed. If you use this proposed model that has been conducted so far vaguely USN-based health information network security vulnerabilities diagnostic measures can be done more systematically provide a model.

  • This study is to suggest the proper standards of the pediatric facilities. We need to have the medical treatment standard focusing to the architectural concept because the living and medical treatment level and the demand of citizen is increasing. The way of research is mainly referring to USA's hospitals and the patients. This study is for the psychological stability of child. We found the form decisive elements and the basic form characteristic with analysing cases. This elements are emerging to the sociality, privacy, control, recognition and territoriality. We have to improve the satisfaction of the patient through this element. In the future, the role of the improved medical environment will have to be emphasized.

  • With ubiquitous computing aid, it can improve human being's life quality if all people have more convenient medical service under pervasive computing environment. In this paper, for a pervasive health care application for diabetes patient, we've implemented a health care system, which is composed of three parts. Various sensors monitor both outer and inner environment of human such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and glycemic index, etc. These sensors form zigbee-based sensor network. And as a backend, medical information server accumulates sensing data and performs back-end processing. To simply transfer these sensing values to a medical team may be a low level's medical service. So, we've designed a model with context awareness for more improved medical service which is based on ART(adaptive resonance theory) neural network. Our experiments show that a proposed healthcare system can provide improved medical service because it can recognize current context of patient more concretely.

  • Wireless access network section needs strong security which supports high data rate and mobility not to invade patient's privacy by exposing patient's sensitive biometric from automatic implantable device that is adapted to u-healthcare service. This paper builds test bed and performs assessment and measurement of security ability of WiMAX network to transmit and receive mobile patient's biometric by building WiMAX network in wireless access network not to expose paitne's biometirc at wireless access network section to the third person. Specially, this paper compares and assesses data security, MAC control message security, handover conection delay, and frame loss and bandwidth of ECDH at the layer of WiMAX security compliance, WiMAX MAC IPSec, and MAC.

  • u-Healthcare service is one of attractive applications in ubiquitous environment. In this paper, we propose a method to recognize exercises using a new accelerometer based body-attached platform for supporting u-Healthcare service. The platform consists of a device for measuring accelerometer data and a device for receiving the data. The former measures a user's motion data using a 3-axis accelerometer. The latter transmits the accelerometer data to a computer for recognizing the user's exercise. The algorithm for exercise recognition classifies the type of exercise using principle components analysis(PCA) from the accelerometer data transformed by discrete fourier transform(DFT), and estimates the repetition count of the recognized exercise using a peak detection algorithm. We evaluate the performance of the algorithm from the accuracy of the recognition of exercise type and the error rate of the estimation of repetition count. In our experimental result, the algorithm shows the accuracy about 98%.

  • The WBAN technology means a short distance wireless network which provides each device's interactive communication by connecting devices inside and outside of body located within 3 meters. Standardization on the physical layer, data link layer, network layer and application layer is in progress by IEEE 802.15.6 TG BAN. It is necessary to develop the WBAN core technology that sensor node device, WBAN middleware and WBAN application service for WBAN environment. In this paper we designed the medical message structure and implemented medical application for purpose of vital information reliability. The message structure was proposed for WBAN environment and application can be check biometric information from BN on smart device through WBAN gateway.

  • The present study is following a series of research investigations on design resources coming from collected data referring to users' awareness and preferences. The aim of this research is to test the Healthcare Environmental Color Index as a basis for practitioners in the field of healthcare design. An array of color samples selected from previous research, have been presented to the respondents via an online survey, in order to identify the preferences of the two groups on the relation between environmental color and health. As a result of the first experiment and through the comparison of processed data, the maximum percentage of respondents from each group is validating the relation between environmental color and health. For the second experiment we intend to highlight the patterns of color preferences for each group, and thus to test the color samples healing function. The compared data also showed a higher awareness of Koreans than Romanians on the potential of color applied to healing environment. Last but not least in the third experiment we show the top five color samples preferred by each group. It is significant that the comparison of the results validated once more some of our previous findings related to the healthcare environment, such as: the general preference for the green hue (associated to fatigue relax according to color psychology) and the blue hue (sedation release effect) but also the yellow hue - associated to bright energy. Three out of the top five preferred color samples have been identical to both groups while the other two samples have shown characteristic variations. These results show that similarities are strong and can be used in a glocal design strategy as an accessible tool for any practitioner. Based on the Healthcare Environmental Color Index and users' preferences analysis, a new design culture for healthcare can be established and developed.
