  • The purpose of this study is twofold. First, it shows how to calculate the size of nonregular workers in Korea using the supplemental surveys to the Economically Active Population Surveys. Second, it decomposes the difference in the share of nonregular workers between 2005 and 2013 by a Oaxaca-type method.. The obtained results indicate that the differences in coefficients rather than the differences in characteristics are mainly responsible for the decline in the share of nonregular workers. This implies that a worker with the same characteristics is more likely to be a regular worker in 2013 than in 2005. This tendency may come from the changes in workers's as well as firms' employment practices. Also, it is suspected that the Nonregular Worker Act enacted in 2007 may have contributed to the decrease in the share of nonregular workers.

However, now that the implication was drawn from a single company, further studies covering case study and application plan according to scale and type of diverse company groups should be continued.

  • The aim of this study was to empirically investigate the difference in life satisfaction between people with disabilities who utilize the Internet and those who do not. The study also found out through an interaction term analysis if there were differences in their life satisfaction and digital utilization by gender, age, education level, employment status, household income, as well as personal characteristics such as disability type and degree. While the existing studies have been mainly focused on the digital divide between the non-disabled and the disabled, this study attempts to further apply the advanced concept of digital divide - digital utilization divide - within the group of people with disabilities. Based on these research findings, this study shows that the digital utilization by people with disabilities has a statistically significant effect on their quality of life, and that life satisfaction of the people with disabilities who use the Internet is affected by their education level, residence, and disability degree. Consequently, these findings indicate implications that suggest an expanded form of digital divide policies for people with disabilities through broadening perspectives on policies for closing such divide.

The imputation methods and efficiency of imputation for simulation was adapted differently from type of data. For continuous data, we imputed the nonresponses with mean imputation, regression imputation, adjusted grey-based k-NN imputation(DU, DW, WU, WW) and compared the results with RMSE. For categorical data, we imputed the nonresponses with mode method, probability imputation, conditional mode method, conditional probability method, hot-deck imputation, and compared the results with Accuracy. By the results, regression imputation and adjusted grey-based k-NN imputation appropriated for continuous data and hot-deck imputation appropriated for categorical data.

  • Recently, with the development of mobile devices and social media services, contents recommendation schemes have been studied. They are typically applied to the job curation systems. Most existing university education content recommendation schemes only recommend the most frequently taken subjects based on the student's school and major. Therefore, they do not consider the type or field of employment that each student wants. In this paper, we propose a university educational contents recommendation scheme for job curation services. The proposed scheme extracts companies that a user is interested in by analyzing his/her activities in the job curation system. The proposed scheme selects graduates or mentors based on the reliability and similarity of graduates who have been employed at the companies of interest. The proposed scheme recommends customized subjects, comparative subjects, and autonomous activity lists to users through collaborative filtering.

  • The purpose of this paper is to better understand the socio-economic differentials of Internet access and use. Data from '2008 Korean Internet usage behavior' were used to conduct logistic regression analysis. The findings show that there are significant socio-economic(age, gender, educational attainment, employment situation, and Internet access type) disparity in Internet access(Internet access at home, broadband Internet access). Also socio-economic variables enter in as statistically significant in most specifications for Internet use intensity (Intensive internet use, frequent internet use, less frequent internet use). The gender, household income and education attainment explanations for large differential in Internet use intensity are generally very similar. It is shown that age, education attainment and household income level cause a large digital divide on Internet service use(information use, communication and community use, e-commerce use, Internet banking use).
