  • The formation degree of sustain (ITO pattern) decides quality of PDP (Plasma Display Panel). For this reason, it makes efforts in searching defects more than 30 un as 100%. Now, the existing inspection is dependent upon naked eye or microscope in off-line PDP manufacturing process. In this study developed prototype inspection system of PDP 170 glass is based on line-scan mechanism. Developed system creates information that detects and sorts kinds of defect automatically. Designed inspection technology adopts multi-vision method by slip-beam formation for the minimum of inspection time and detection algorithm is embodied in detection ability of developed system. Designed algorithm had to make good use of kernel matrix that draws up an approach to geometry. A characteristic of defects, as pin hole, substance, protrusion, are extracted from blob analysis method. Defects, as open, short, spots and et al, are distinguished by line type inspection algorithm. In experiment, we could have ensured ability of inspection that can be detected with reliability of up to 95% in about 60 seconds.

  • Rails are subjected to damage from rolling contact fatigue, which leads to defects such as cracks. Rolling contact fatigue damages on the surface of rail such as head check, squats are one of growing problems. Another form of rail surface damage, known as "Ballast imprint" has become apparent. This form of damage is associated with ballast particles becoming trapped between the wheel and the surface of rail. These defects are still one of the key reasons for rail maintenance and replacement. In this study, we have investigated whether the ballast imprint is an initiator of head check type cracks and effect of defect size using Finite element analysis. The FE analysis were used to investigate stresses and strains in subsurface of defects according to variation of defect size. Based on loading cycles obtained from FE analysis, fatigue analysis for each point was carried out.

  • This study proposes th analysis and evaluation method of time series ultrasonic signal using the chaos feature extraction for ultrasonic pattern recognition. Features extracted from time series data using the chaos time series signal analyze quantitatively weld defects. For this purpose, analysis objective in this study is fractal dimension and Lyapunov exponent. Trajectory changes in the strange attractor indicated that even same type of defects carried substantial difference in chaosity resulting from distance shifts such as 0.5 and 1.0 skip distance. Such differences in chaosity enables the evaluation of unique features of defects in the weld zone. In quantitative chaos feature extraction, feature values of 4.511 and 0.091 in the case of side hole and 4.539 and 0.115 in the case of vertical hole were proposed on the basis of fractal dimension and Lyapunov exponent. Proposed chaos feature extraction in this study can enhances ultrasonic pattern recognition results from defect signals of weld zone such as side hole and vertical hole.

  • The thermal distributions near the growth interface of 150nm CZ crystals were measured by three thermocouples installed at the center, middle (half radius) and edge (10nm from surface) of the crystals. The results show that larger growth rates produced smaller thermal gradients. This contradicts the widely used heat flux balance equation. Using this fact, it is confirmed in CZ crystals that the type of point defects created is determined by the value of the thermal gradient(G) near the interface during growth, as already reported for FZ crystals. Although depending on the growth systems the effective length of the thermal gradient for defect generation are varied, we defined the effective length as 10n,\m from th interface in this experiment. If the G is roughly smaller than 20C/cm, vacancy rich CZ crystals are produced. If G is larger than 25C/cm, the species of point defects changes dramatically from vacancies to interstitials. The experimental results after detaching FZ and CZ crystals from the melt show that growth interfaces are filled with vacancies. We propose that large G produces shrunk lattice spacing and in order to relax such lattice excess interstitials are necessary. Such interstitials recombine with vacancies which were generated at the growth interface, nest occupy interstitial sites and residuals aggregate themselves to make stacking faults and dislocation loops during cooling. The shape of the growth interface is also determined by te distributions of G across the interface. That is, the small G and the large G in the center induce concave and convex interfaces to the melts, respectively.

  • Intrinsic and proximity gettering are popular processes to get higher cumulative production yield and usually adopt multi-step annealing and high energy ion implantation, respectively. In order to test the combined processed of these, high energy \ulcornerAs\ulcorner ion implantation and 2-step annealing process were adopted. After the ion implantation followed by 2-step annealing, the wafers were cleaved and etched with Wright etchant. The morphology of cross section on samples was inspected by FESEM. The concentration profile of As was measured by SRP. The location and type of secondary defects inspected by HRTEM were dependent on the 1st annealing temperatures. That is, a line of dislocation located at $1.5mutextrm{m}$ apart from the surface at $600^{\circ}C$ lst annealing was changed to some dislocation lines or loops nearby the surface at 100$0^{\circ}C$. The density of dislocation line was reduced but the size of the defects was enlarged as the temperature increased.

  • The importance of soundness and safety evaluation in weld zone using by the ultrasonic wave has been recently increased rapidly because of the collapses of huge structures and safety accidents. Especially, the ultrasonic method that has been often used for a major non-destructive testing(NDT) technique in many engineering fields plays an important role as a volume test method. Hence, the defecting any defects of weld Bone in austenitic stainless steel type 304 using by ultrasonic wave and neural network is explored in this paper. In order to detect defects, a distance amplitude curve on standard scan sensitivity and preliminary scan sensitivity represented of the relation between ultrasonic probe, instrument, and materials was drawn based on a quantitative standard. Also, a total of 93% of defect types by testing 30 defect patterns after organizing neural network system, which is learned with an accuracy of 99%, based on ultrasonic evaluation is distinguished in order to classify defects such as holes or notches in experimental results. Thus, the proposed ultrasonic wave and neural network is useful for defect detection and Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Evaluation(UNDE) of weld zone in austenitic stainless steel 304.

  • The Mega-pixel camera phones become main trends in mobile phone market. The lens modules used in mesa-pixel camera phones need high resolution. One of the main factors of resolution drop is the defects of bare lens. Though there are many advantages in auto-inspection of defects of bare lens, high technical problems take the defect inspections to be done with manual process. In this paper, the type and the source of defects were described and bare lens defect auto-inspection system design was explained. The designed auto-inspection system is composed of illumination optics part, focusing optics part and auto-moving system. With the proposed auto-inspection system, fast and uniform inspection of bare lens can be achieved.

  • The non-destructive testing equipment using an eddy current was developed to check for defect in the vehicle transmission component. A defect master sample was made to test all types of defects that occur in the component and also an eddy current detector was manufactured and used to test and detect all kinds of defects. In addition, testing was held against the actual defective items to investigate the cause and type of defects, and a comparative study was conducted based on results from the examination. The software system of the eddy current detector was developed so that even a non-specialist can make assessment of detect in the component from the test results displayed on the monitor.

  • 3Y-TZP (3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals, 3Y-TZP) ceramics are emerging as dental implant materials due to their superior optical and mechanical properties as well as excellent biophysical properties, in spite of low bioactivity. In this study, we investigated to sintered properties and microstructural defects of dental zirconia implants fabricated by ceramic injection molding and post-HIP (Hot isostatic pressing) processing and analyzed the processing parameters related with the obtainment of its high sinterd density. Sintered and microstructural parameters, i.e, apparent density, grain size and phase composition of zirconia implants fabricated by injection molding were dependent on the fixtute size and implant type. Maximum sintered density of 99.2% and minimum grain size of 0.3-0.4 ㎛ were obtained from large-scaled 2-body sample. In 1-body ceramic implant, high sintered density of 99.5% was obtained, but it had a little monoclinic phase and wide grain size distribution.

  • Transient earth voltage (TEV) signals propagate on metal surfaces when partial discharge (PD) occurs due to the deterioration of insulation performance in the operation of gas-insulated switchgears (GIS). A TEV sensor has advantages of high sensitivity and convenient installation for detecting PD defects. However, the TEV sensor depends on imports in domestic and detailed studies have not been conducted. In this study, a sensor was designed and fabricated by the TEV principle and its response characteristics were evaluated for detecting PD defects, which were simulated as protrusion on conductor (POC), protrusion on enclosure (POE), and free moving particle (FMP) defects. Finally, the PD-induced TEV signals were measured and phase-resolved partial discharge (PRPD) patterns were analyzed to identify the type of defect.
