The wave-cutoff tool is a new diagnostic method to measure electron density and electron temperature. Most of the plasma diagnostic tools have the disadvantage that their application to processing plasma where toxic and reactive gases are used gives rise to many problems such as contamination, perturbation, precision of measurement, and so on. We can minimize these problems by using the wave-cutoff method. Here, we will present the results obtained through the development of the wave-cutoff diagnostic method. The frequency spectrum characteristics of the wave-cutoff probe will be obtained experimentally and analyzed through the microwave field simulation by using the CST-MW studio simulator. The plasma parameters are measured with the wave-cutoff method in various discharge conditions and its results will be compared with the results of Langmuir probe. Another disadvantage is that other diagnostic methods spend a long time (~ a few seconds) to measure plasma parameters. In this presentation, a fast measurement method will be also introduced. The wave-cutoff probe system consists of two antennas and a network analyzer. The network analyzer provides the transmission spectrum and the reflection spectrum by frequency sweeping. The plasma parameters such as electron density and electron temperature are obtained through these spectra. The frequency sweeping time, the time resolution of the wave-cutoff method, is about 1 second. A short pulse with a broad band spectrum of a few GHz is used with an oscilloscope to acquire the spectra data in a short time. The data acquisition time can be reduced with this method. Here, the plasma parameter measurement methods, Langmuir probe, pulsed wave-cutoff method and frequency sweeping wave-cutoff method, are compared. The measurement results are well matched. The real time resolution is less than 1 ?sec. The pulsed wave-cutoff technique is found to be very useful in the transient plasmas such as pulsed plasma and tokamak edge plasma.
In the information storage development, the trend of the storage device is to increase the recording density. Among such an effort, near-field probe recording is spotlighted as a method of high increasing recording density. For the successfully embodiment of storage device, the actuating mechanism of near-field probe is essentially designed. In this paper, we suggest the slider similar with conventional HDDs and design the slider using near- field probe for the purpose of applying the slider in order to control gap between probe and media. The most important object of slider design is to guarantee the flying ability and stability. For achievement of these design objects, we perform two step of optimal design process. The media is mod! eled as random displacement, which is only considered roughness of disk surface. The design slider is analyzed with dynamic state in assumed media. At this process, the optimal model is confirmed to stable flying stability.

For better evaluation of material thickness by using the reflection type pulsed eddy current method, various probe models are designed and their response signals, characteristics, and sensitivities to thickness variation are investigated by a numerical analysis method. Since the sensor needs to detect magnetic fields from eddy currents induced in a test material, not from the exciter coil, two types of models that are shielded by the combination of copper and ferrite and only by ferrite are considered. By studying response signals from these shielded probe models, the peak value and the zero crossing time are selected as useful signal features for the evaluation of material thickness. Investigation of sensitivities of these two features shows that the sensitivity of peak value is more useful than that of zero crossing time and that the probe shielded only by ferrite gives much better sensitivity to thickness variation.
Polygraph examination, statement validity analysis and P300-based concealed information test are major three examination tools, which are use to determine a person's truthfulness and credibility in criminal procedure. Although polygraph examination is most common in criminal procedure, but it has little admissibility of evidence due to the weakness of scientific basis. In 1990s to support the weakness of scientific basis about polygraph, Farwell and Donchin proposed the P300-based concealed information test technique. The P300-based concealed information test has two strong points. First, the P300-based concealed information test is easy to conduct with polygraph. Second, the P300-based concealed information test has plentiful scientific basis. Nevertheless, the utilization of P300-based concealed information test is infrequent, because of the quantity of probe stimulus. The probe stimulus contains closed information that is relevant to the crime or other investigated situation. In tradition P300-based concealed information test protocol, three or more probe stimuli are necessarily needed. But it is hard to acquire three or more probe stimuli, because most of the crime relevant information is opened in investigative situation. In addition, P300-based concealed information test uses oddball paradigm, and oddball paradigm makes imbalance between the number of probe and irrelevant stimulus. Thus, there is a possibility that the unbalanced number of probe and irrelevant stimulus caused systematic underestimation of P300 amplitude of irrelevant stimuli. To overcome the these two limitation of P300-based concealed information test, one-probe P300-based concealed information test protocol is explored with various machine learning algorithms. According to this study, parameters of the modified one-probe protocol are as follows. In the condition of female and male face stimuli, the duration of stimuli are encouraged 400ms, the repetition of stimuli are encouraged 60 times, the analysis method of P300 amplitude is encouraged peak to peak method, the cut-off of guilty condition is encouraged 90% and the cut-off of innocent condition is encouraged 30%. In the condition of two-syllable word stimulus, the duration of stimulus is encouraged 300ms, the repetition of stimulus is encouraged 60 times, the analysis method of P300 amplitude is encouraged peak to peak method, the cut-off of guilty condition is encouraged 90% and the cut-off of innocent condition is encouraged 30%. It was also conformed that the logistic regression (LR), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), K Neighbors (KNN) algorithms were probable methods for analysis of P300 amplitude. The one-probe P300-based concealed information test with machine learning protocol is helpful to increase utilization of P300-based concealed information test, and supports to determine a person's truthfulness and credibility with the polygraph examination in criminal procedure.

This paper presented a new measuring system to improve circular motion accuracy by using two-dimensonal probe and master ring for NC machine tools. This measuring system reduced the circular motion error conspicuously by eliminating the influence of the acceleration/deceleration range and compensating the friction force whose influences were significant while measuring the motion. Experimental results show that this system had enough accuracy to measure a circular motion for NC machine tools, compared with the circular test method and the r .theta. method.

Storage and transfer heat in soils is governed by the soil thermal properties and these properties are therefore needed in many engineering applications, including horizontal ground heat exchanger for ground-coupled heat pumps. This paper presents the evaluation results of the thermal diffusivity of soils (silica, quartzite, limestone, sandstone, granite, and two masonry soils used for the trench backfilling materials of the horizontal ground heat exchanger. To assess this thermal property, we (i) measure the soil thermal conductivities using single-probe method and (ii) use the de Vries method of summing the heat capacities of the soil constituents. The results show that the thermal diffusivity tends to increase as dry soil begins to wet, but it approaches a constant value or even decreases as the soil continues to wet. Combined algorithm with and improved model for the thermal conductivity of soils and the constituent equation provides accurate estimates of the soil thermal diffusivity.
This paper presents a method of controlling the stiffness of a tungsten probe for an atomic force microscope (AFM) in order to provide high-quality phase contrast images in accordance with sample characteristics. While inducing sufficient deformation on sample surfaces with commercial Si or $Si_3N_4$ probes is difficult because of their low stiffness, a tungsten probe fabricated by electrochemical etching with appropriately high stiffness can generate relatively large elastic deformation without damaging sample surfaces. The fabrication of the tungsten probe involves two separate procedures. The first procedure involves immersing a tungsten wire with both ends bent parallel to the surface of an electrolyte and controlling the stiffness of the tungsten cantilever by decreasing its diameter using electrochemical etching in the direction of the central axis. The second procedure involves immersing the end of the etched tungsten cantilever in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the electrolyte and fabricating a tungsten tip with a tip radius of 20-50 nm via the necking phenomenon. The latter etching process applies pulse waves every 0.25 seconds to the manufactured tip to improve its yield. Finite element analysis (FEA) of the stiffness of the tungsten probe as a function of its diameter showed that the stiffness of the tungsten probes greatly varies from 56 N/m to 3501 N/m according to the cantilever diameters from $30{\mu}m$ to $100{\mu}m$, respectively. Thus, the proposed etching method is effective for producing a tungsten probe having specific stiffness for optimal use with an AFM and certain samples.

Estimation of the presence of people in real time is extremely useful for businesses in providing better services. Many companies and researchers have attempted various researches in order to count the number of floating population in a specific space. Recently, as part of smart cities and digital twins, commercialization of measuring floating populations using Wi-Fi signals has become active in the public and private sectors. In this paper we present a method of estimating the floating population based on MAC-address values collected from smartphones. By distinguishing Real MAC-address and Random MAC-address values, we compare the estimated number of smartphone devices and the actual number of people caught on CCTV screens to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed method. And it appeared to have a similar correlation between the two datas. As a result, we present a method of estimating the floating population based on analyzing Wi-Fi Probe Requests.

Recently, as part of smart cities and digital twins, commercialization of measuring floating populations using Wi-Fi signals has become active in the public and private sectors. This paper explains the floating population measuring system from the perspective of general consumers(non-experts) who uses current population data. Specifically, it presents a method of estimating the floating population based on MAC-address values collected from smartphones. By distinguishing Real MAC-address and Random MAC-address values, we compare the estimated number of smartphone devices and the actual number of people caught on CCTV screens to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed method. And it appeared to have a similar correlation between the two datas. As a result, we present a method of estimating the floating population based on analyzing Wi-Fi Probe Requests
