2개층 사질토지반에서 단일 강성말뚝의 수평거동에 대한 두부 구속영향 (Effect of Pile Head Constraint on Lateral Behavior of Single Rigid Pile in Two-Layered Sand Soil)

  • This Paper shows the results of a series of model tests on the behavior of single rigid Pile, which subjected to lateral load, in non-homogeneous Nak-Dong River sands, consisted of two layers, upper and lower layers. The purpose of the present paper is to investigate the effect of ratio of lower layer thickness to embedded pile length ratio of soil modules of upper to lower layer (E$\sub$h1//E$\sub$h2/) and pile head constraint condition on the characteristics of lateral behavior of single pile. These effects can be quantified only by the results of model tests. As a model test result, in non-homogeneous sand, it shows that the lateral behavior depends upon the ratio of soil modules of upper to lower layer more than other factors. And, in respect of deflection, it was found that the reduction ratio of deflection by pile head fixity is the value of 0.5 and 0.6 for E$\sub$h1//E$\sub$h2/=0.18 and E$\sub$h1//E$\sub$h2/=5.56, respectively. The critical thickness of lower layer on the change of deflection is about 25 - 50% of pile embedded length. Also, in respect of maximum bending moment it was found that the reduction ratio of maximum bending moment by pile head fixity is the value of 0.55 and 0.7 for E$\sub$h1//E$\sub$h2/=0.18 and E$\sub$h1//E$\sub$h2/=5.56, respectively.

비디오의 의미검색과 유사성검색을 위한 통합비디오정보시스템 (Hybrid Video Information System Supporting Content-based Retrieval and Similarity Retrieval)

  • 본 논문에서는 비정형, 대용량의 비디오데이터의 특징기반 검색과 주석기반 검색을 통합하여 다양한 사용자의 의미검색을 지원하고, 유사성 질의를 지원하는 통합비디오정보시스템(Hybrid Video Information System : HVIS)을 제안한다. HVIS는 메타데이터 모델링을 위해 한편의 비디오를 비디오 다큐먼트, 시퀸스, 장면, 객체로 나누고 물리적인 비디오스트림을 위한 원시데이터계층(raw_data layer)과 주석기반 검색, 특징기반 검색, 유사성 검색을 지원하기 위한 메타데이터계층(meta_data layer)의 두 개의 계층을 가진 통합 계층지향 메타데이터모델(Two layered Hybrid Object-oriented Metadata Model : THOMM)과 이 모델을 기반으로 주석기반 질의, 특징기반 질의, 유사질의가 가능한 비디오질의언어 (Video Query Language)와 질의를 처리하기 위한 비디오질의처리기 (Video Query Processor : VQP)와 질의처리알고리즘을 제안한다. 특히 유사한 장면, 객체를 찾는 유사질의시 사용자의 관심을 고려한 유사성 정도를 나타내는 식을 제시한다. 제안된 시스템은 Visual C++, ActiveX와 ORACLE를 이용하여 구현되었다.

Pavement condition assessment through jointly estimated road roughness and vehicle parameters

  • Performance assessment of pavements proves useful, in terms of handling the ride quality, controlling the travel time of vehicles and adequate maintenance of pavements. Roughness profiles provide a good measure of the deteriorating condition of the pavement. For the accurate estimates of pavement roughness from dynamic vehicle responses, vehicle parameters should be known accurately. Information on vehicle parameters is uncertain, due to the wear and tear over time. Hence, condition monitoring of pavement requires the identification of pavement roughness along with vehicle parameters. The present study proposes a scheme which estimates the roughness profile of the pavement with the use of accurate estimates of vehicle parameters computed in parallel. Pavement model used in this study is a two-layer Euler-Bernoulli beam resting on a nonlinear Pasternak foundation. The asphalt topping of the pavement in the top layer is modeled as viscoelastic, and the base course bottom layer is modeled as elastic. The viscoelastic response of the top layer is modeled with the help of the Burgers model. The vehicle model considered in this study is a half car model, fitted with accelerometers at specified points. The identification of the coupled system of vehicle-pavement interaction employs a coupled scheme of an unbiased minimum variance estimator and an optimization scheme. The partitioning of observed noisy quantities to be used in the two schemes is investigated in detail before the analysis. The unbiased minimum variance estimator (MVE) make use of a linear state-space formulation including roughness, to overcome the linearization difficulties as in conventional nonlinear filters. MVE gives estimates for the unknown input and fed into the optimization scheme to yield estimates of vehicle parameters. The issue of ill-posedness of the problem is dealt with by introducing a regularization equivalent term in the objective function, specifically where a large number of parameters are to be estimated. Effect of different objective functions is also studied. The outcome of this research is an overall measure of pavement condition.

  • Baroclinic hydraulic model experiments on the time-varying states of the flow pattern and water exchange in Sagami Bay were carried out based on quasi-steady state experiments on the flow pattern. For the model experiments, density changes as well as time changes in the volume transport of the upper layer were executed to investigate the flow response of the bay in the case of a sudden inflow of low density water and variable volume transport into the Sagami Bay. The results of the model experiments showed that when the volume transport was increased frontal eddies or frontal wave streamers from the Kuroshio Through Flow were transferred to the inner part of the bay along with cyclonic circulation in the bay. In addition, density boundary currents appeared and flowed along the eastern boundary of the bay. As the upper layer density decreased, frontal eddies, frontal streamers and coastal boundary density currents occurred and proceeded along the eastern boundary of the bay at a high speed.

  • A modified k-$\epsilon$ model is proposed for calculation of transitional boundary layer flows. In order to develop the eddy viscosity model for the problem, the flow is divided into three regions; namely, pre-transition region, transition region and fully turbulent region. The pre-transition eddy-viscosity is formulated by extending the mixing Length concept. In the transition region, the eddy-viscosity model employs two length scales, i.e., pre-transition length scale and turbulent length scale pertaining to the regions upstream and the downstream, respectively, and a university model of stream-wise intermittency variation is used as a function bridging the pre-transition region and the fully turbulent region. The proposed model is applied to calculate three benchmark cases of the transitional boundary layer flows with different free-stream turbulent intensity ( $1\%{\~}6\%$ ) under zero-pressure gradient. It was found that the profiles of mom velocity and turbulent intensity, local maximum of velocity fluctuations, their locations as well as the stream-wise variation of integral properties such as skin friction, shape factor and maximum velocity fluctuations are very satisfactorily Predicted throughout the flow regions.

균질 지반과 비균질 지반에서 강관 모형말뚝의 수평거동 특성에 관한 모형실험 (Model Tests on the Characteristics of Lateral Behavior of Steel Pipe Pile in Homogeneous and Nonhomogeneous Soil Conditions)

  • 본 논문은 균질 및 비균질 낙동강 사질토 지반에서 수평 및 경사하중을 받은 강관 말뚝의 수평거동에 대한 모형실험 결과들을 고찰하였다. 비균질 지반은 상부와 하부층의 2개층으로 이루졌다. 본 연구의 목적은 말뚝의 수평거동에 대한 경사하중$(Q_\beta)$, 말뚝 근입길이에 대한 하부지반의 높이비 (H/S), 그리고 상.하부지반의 지반반력계수비$(E_{h1}E_{h2})$의 영향에 관하여 실험적인 연구를 수행하고 이러한 영향들을 정량화 할 수 있는 실험결과를 얻었다. 모형실험 결과들에 의하면, 비균질 지반에서 수평거동은 다른 인자들보다 $E_{h1}E_{h2}$에 더 의존하는 것으로 나타났다. 균질지반에 대한 비균질 지반의 수평변위비$(y_{H/L}/y_{H/L=0}$)와 말뚝 근입길이에 대한 하부지반의 높이비(H/L)의 관계는 지수 함수식으로 회귀분석 되었다. 경사하중을 받는 경우의 휨 모멘트-깊이 관계는 수평하중을 받는 말뚝의 경우와 상이하게 나타났으며, 상대밀도 90%에서는 최대 휨모멘트 발생깊이는 수평하중을 받는 경우보다 약 70% 깊어졌다.

ELID 연삭에서 부도체 피막의 실시간 계측 (In-Process Measurement of Insulating Layer in ELID-Grinding)

  • In general, it is known that the wear rate of the abrasive and the removal rate of the metal bond of the grinding wheel should be balanced to maintain the depth of the insulating surface layer to an appropriate level. In order to accomplish, the high quality ELID grinding, therefore, it is necessary to measure the depth of the insulating layer in real-time and then to control the electrolytic conditions to keep the depth to a certain level. In this study, an in-process measurement system of the insulated layer using two gap sensors - a capacitor type and an eddy current type - developed and the change of the status of the insulated layer during ELID grinding is detected. And from the experimental data, we have chosen the best mathematical model to predict the depth of the insulating layer.

환기가 있는 터널에서의 화재유동 해석의 정확성에 대한 고찰 (THE EXAMINATION OF ACCURACY OF FIRE-DRIVEN FLOW SIMULATION IN TUNNEL EQUIPPED WITH VENTILATION)

  • Numerical methods are applied to simulate the smoke behavior in a ventilated tunnel using large eddy simulation (LES) which is incorporated in FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) with proper combustion and radiation model. In this study, present numerical results are compared with data obtained from experiments on pool fires in a ventilated tunnel. The model tunnel is $182m(L){\times}5.4m(W){\times}2.4m(H)$. Two fire scenarios with different ventilation rates are considered with two different fire strengths. The present results are analyzed with those from LES without combustion and radiation model and from RANS ($\kappa-\epsilon$) model as well. Temperature distributions caused by fire in tunnel are compared with each other. It is found that thermal stratification and smoke back-layer can be predicted by FDS and the temperature predictions by FDS show better results than LES without combustion and radiation model. The FDS solver, however, failed to predict correct flow pattern when the high ventilation rate is considered in tunnel because of the defects in the tunnel-inlet turbulence and the near-wall turbulence.

Application of artificial neural network model in regional frequency analysis: Comparison between quantile regression and parameter regression techniques.

  • Due to the development of technologies, complex computation of huge data set is possible with a prevalent personal computer. Therefore, machine learning methods have been widely applied in the hydrologic field such as regression-based regional frequency analysis (RFA). The main purpose of this study is to compare two frameworks of RFA based on the artificial neural network (ANN) models: quantile regression technique (QRT-ANN) and parameter regression technique (PRT-ANN). As an output layer of the ANN model, the QRT-ANN predicts quantiles for various return periods whereas the PRT-ANN provides prediction of three parameters for the generalized extreme value distribution. Rainfall gauging sites where record length is more than 20 years were selected and their annual maximum rainfalls and various hydro-meteorological variables were used as an input layer of the ANN model. While employing the ANN model, 70% and 30% of gauging sites were used as training set and testing set, respectively. For each technique, ANN model structure such as number of hidden layers and nodes was determined by a leave-one-out validation with calculating root mean square error (RMSE). To assess the performances of two frameworks, RMSEs of quantile predicted by the QRT-ANN are compared to those of the PRT-ANN.

λ/4 모드 PVDF 초음파 트랜스듀서에 있어서 전극 사이의 접합층이 성능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of a Bonding Layer between Electrodes on the Performance of a λ/4-Mode PVDF Ultrasound Transducer)

  • 양 전극 사이에 압전층 외에 비압전성의 접합층이 존재하는 ${\lambda}/4$ 모드 PVDF 초음파 트랜스듀서에 있어서 그 접합층이 트랜스듀서의 성능에 미치는 영향을 등가회로에 의해 해석하였다. 등가회로로서는 Kikuchi 등이 제안한 전송선로 모델[Sound of IEICE, 55-A, 331-338 (1981)]을 도입하였는데, 먼저 그 모델에 의한 해석의 타당성을 $80{\mu}m$ 두께의 PVDF 압전막이 동(Cu) 후면체에 부착되는 세 가지 경우를 가정한 KLM 모델과의 비교를 통해 검증하였다. 다음으로, 그 압전막과 더불어 $5{\mu}m{\sim}20{\mu}m$ 두께의 에폭시 접합층을 갖는 다섯 개의 트랜스듀서를 제작하여 펄스 에코 응답을 측정한 후 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교하였다. 두 결과는 서로 잘 일치하였는바, 도입한 Kikuchi 모델에 의해 접합층이 트랜스듀서의 성능에 미치는 영향을 파악할 수 있음을 알았는데, 접합층이 $20{\mu}m$일 때는 그 접합층이 없을 때에 비해 중심주파수와 대역폭은 각각 약 19.7 %, 25.0 % 감소하고, 삽입손실은 57.2 % 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.
